What to buy DM

Hi guys,

I'm really not sure I'll get any ideas I haven't already thought of but here goes...

DM is really difficult to buy for.

Wouldn't be suitable -
Subscription mags etc
Jewellery
Makeup
Perfume
Clothes/shoes
Food
Alcohol

She doesn't have any hobbies.

What the hell can I buy her 😫😫😫😫 every year this stresses me out and I feel I get her random gifts that she doesn't need/want. I really don't want to buy her the typical pjs/slippers etc that I buy every year for the sake of it.

Heated throw/blanket

Bird feeding table/station & selection of bird food

CupCupGoose · 28/09/2019 08:04

Afternoon tea voucher?
Kindle?
Candles/wax melts?
Plants or garden stuff?
Blanket or nice throw?
Cookbooks or any kitchenware?
If you have kids, a photo calendar or soemthing similar?

HariboStarmix · 28/09/2019 08:07

Something for her house? Maybe a framed print for the wall or something kitchen-y like nice mugs or table settings (placemats / coasters / tablecloth or runner?)

Whitecandle · 28/09/2019 08:07

@CupCupGoose did think afternoon tea voucher but she's recently separated so did feel guilty buying somethings for two 😕

Photo calendar sounds a good idea!

@CherryPlum she isn't really the gardening type and I actually bought her a blanket last Xmas - thank you though!

Bloody parents hey!

My in laws now prefer vouchers they can use for theatre tickets, or for garden centre, or an experience as they either have everything they need or get it themselves! Depending on budget, would something like that work? Then try get a book and a treat like chocs to open as well.

Whitecandle · 28/09/2019 08:10

@HariboStarmix yeah I'm thinking along that line. My DS is 8 months so I'm thinking maybe a framed photo of him or something.

Bought her a lovely china mug last year too but my brothers girlfriend has now claimed it as hers (my mum is fuming) so could get another... feels a shit present knowing I bought one last year, kind of a recycled idea but maybe she would appreciate it!

@Topbird29 she's not really a garden centre type. She is in her 40s but a young 40. Think tattoos and 'trendy' clothes. More like late 20s lol. Hope that doesn't come across as mutton hahahaha🤣🤣

It's so hard isn't it, buying for the same people for years on end!

Topbird29 · 28/09/2019 08:17

Photo cd lender also was a hit last year - mixed up photos with drawings that kids had done. Saw update about things for 2 - she may have a friend she can take somewhere. And garden vouchers can be used in their cafes too (I think)

myrtleberry · 28/09/2019 08:17

A photo mug

Pinkyyy · 28/09/2019 08:20

Does she like cooking?

Whitecandle · 28/09/2019 08:36

@Pinkyyy nope 😔

Spa day
Afternoon tea but with you?
Theatre tickets

Topbird29 · 28/09/2019 09:38

Calendar - wtf is a cd lender??
My dm loved a trip to see a show in London. So did train then priscilla. Loved it! Or maybe gig tickets??

Topbird29 · 28/09/2019 09:42

Guess I'm so used to seeing dm on here being older! Surprised no has suggested a candle or spa day yet!!! I'm forties, and I've asked for a pair of boots and baileys ! Find a lot if chocolate comes my way too! !

Cornishmum00 · 28/09/2019 09:44

Im doing afternoon tea voucher but with suggestion we go together and photo calender

sashh · 28/09/2019 09:46

A flying lesson?

A tattoo voucher.

A photo shoot with her grandson?

newreality1 · 28/09/2019 09:54

A voucher for her preferred clothes shop.
Some hairdressers do gift vouchers-would this be something she would like?
A framed photo of your son would be a lovely idea and something I'm sure she would love.
Cinema voucher-(put a little note in with the voucher offering to go with her)

TipseyTorvey · 28/09/2019 12:03

Another one here who's surprised she's so young 😊. What about looking at something in her house she uses a lot and getting her the swish version of it? Eg bottle opener or salad hands. Or something that's looking a bit tired? At least then you know it'll get some use.

CherryPlum · 28/09/2019 12:28

Would she like a fountain pen, nice journal, notepad/diary

A designer keyring, or a purse

Does she travel? If so, how about a leather passport holder, or luggage tags

Trumpton · 28/09/2019 14:26

Turtledove cashmere wrist warmers. . So lovely .

tentative3 · 28/09/2019 15:20

Kindle?
Workshop to do together?
Turtledoves cashmere wrist warmers is a good shout

MulberryPeony · 28/09/2019 16:51

Neom or aromatherapy associates bath oil?
Hair voucher and an accessory like a hairband or a decent hairbrush?
Fossil purse (you can get monogramming on a lot of items)?
Cashmere socks?
Posh candle or diffuser?
Tea cup or coffee mug with some posh tea or coffee?
High end skincare?

SaveMeBarry · 28/09/2019 17:00

Purse/handbag
Bath bomb gift set
Tickets for a show (possibly with you?)

lots33 · 28/09/2019 20:17

I’m in my forties and I’d like:

Books
Posh lounge wear
Chocolate
Wine

Because I am fat, lazy and like wine! 😂
