What to buy DM

Hi guys,

I'm really not sure I'll get any ideas I haven't already thought of but here goes...

DM is really difficult to buy for.

Wouldn't be suitable -
Subscription mags etc
Jewellery
Makeup
Perfume
Clothes/shoes
Food
Alcohol

She doesn't have any hobbies.

What the hell can I buy her 😫😫😫😫 every year this stresses me out and I feel I get her random gifts that she doesn't need/want. I really don't want to buy her the typical pjs/slippers etc that I buy every year for the sake of it.

A ticket to see a band

Howmanysleepsnow · 28/09/2019 22:46

Book club subscription? (Willoughby are good)
Electronic photo frame?

whitecandle Slightly missing the point, but I’m curious as to how your brother’s girlfriend claimed your mum’s china mug for her own??? Shock

Christmas hamper. Google that and there are loads with different sorts of foods. Or make your own one with things she likes.

Whitecandle · 30/09/2019 08:30

@daisydalrymple just uses it for her 100 cups of tea a day and keeps it in my brothers room 🤣 my mum is furious lol!

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Really helpful!! X

Well, I'm in my 40s and things I've liked in recent years...

Cashmere socks for when lounging around at home
Small chilly bottle for handbag (to avoid buying water bottles when out)
Small coin/card purse for using in smaller handbags when going out/on holiday etc.
Make up brushes
Jewellery (got a nice necklace from hush last year)
New strap for Apple Watch or case for phone.
Something to wear from a favourite shop.
Perfume? Or a body cream, soap etc. to match favourite perfume?
Voucher for Bobbi brown or MAC to go for make up.
Champagne. Always goes down well!

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo amazing. Thank you!!!

No problem. And you know, tattoos and trendy clothes don't make someone a 'young' 40-something, just a fairly normally one Wink

Whitecandle · 30/09/2019 10:33

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo maybe you're a young 40 too 😉

What about a voucher for a jewellery workshop so she could make herself something? Or a photography/creative writing course (there are some online ones).
An experience voucher to learn a new skill - horseriding or glider piloting or surfing or something>

Whitecandle · 30/09/2019 20:23

@Zaphodsotherhead amazing idea for a workshop!! I'm going to look into that.

I used to have horses growing up and she HATED having to drive me there daily so think she'd have a fit if I gave her something horse related lol x

@Whitecandle - okay, maybe let's forget the horse riding then...

But I bought DD3 and her boyfriend a 'make your own silver ring' workshop last year for Christmas and they loved it. Went to a local silversmiths and made themselves matching fidget rings.
