Which toys are still being played with?

I've found similar posts really helpful in the past..... which toys did you buy last year which are still being played with? The age of children might be helpful to guide others with their shopping too....

My DD(3) (but 4 at Xmas) has grown into the Barbies I bought her last year which she was disinterested in at that point. Also, her plastic glasses and handbag are also still proving to be hits...

My DS(6) is still playing with his Lego and playmobil but it really is the vehicles which are more of a hit than the police station...

DS 8 still playing with the Lego we got him. He also plays with the TMNT and ben 10 figures.

6yo is still playing with her elf snap cards from Poundland, Vtech sing-star, JD Bug scooter and pie face knock-off.

13yo is still playing his Xbox one.

winewolfhowls · 12/09/2019 22:20

Marble run played with consistently from age 4

sideorderofchips · 12/09/2019 22:27

Baby chips is still mad on his cars and garage. And his ride on. And Hetty the Hoover. He’s now four

Middle one is all about her arts and crafts but nothing really from Christmas

Eldest is still in love with her light up headphones

My 3 year old DD (about to turn 4) is still playing with her Melissa and Doug ice cream set. She loves it!

NeitherNowtNorSummat01 · 12/09/2019 22:38

My 3 year old ds still plays with the V Tech ice cream cart. In fact, it is played with daily.

bluechameleon · 12/09/2019 22:43

Wooden castle still played with by 4 and 1 year old. Pikler triangle doesn't get as much love as we'd hoped given how expensive it was.

FireflyGirl · 13/09/2019 05:58

DS (4.6) still plays with his Lego and magnatiles. They are his most played with toys.

OhioOhioOhio · 13/09/2019 06:06

For a family with 3 children of similar ages are there generally enough pieces in one marble run to make it worth it?

OhioOhioOhio · 13/09/2019 06:14

Lego
Magnets
Teddies

sheshootssheimplores · 13/09/2019 06:19

Fatted · 13/09/2019 06:25

My 4YO is still playing with the train set I bought for his older brother when I was actually pregnant with the 4YO!!

Other than that it's playmobil, lego and pokémon all the way.

1AngelicFruitCake · 13/09/2019 06:25

5 year old still playing with Barbies.

3 year old plays with market stall (as does everyone who comes to play)

EugenesAxe · 13/09/2019 06:32

I know Frozen is anathema to most... but I was a bit: ‘Frozen Duplo! Wow...’ when I saw it in a shop the other day.

Saying that, my children liked the police station and shop/house themed kits they got and tended to build huge ‘worlds’ with it.

Equimum · 13/09/2019 07:59

As others have said, the wooden train set bought for Christmas 2014 is still played with daily (although now, mostly by the child I was pregnant with at the time).

From last christmas, the tepee, Hotwire set, Bugs in the Kitchen game & Lego have proven to be the biggest hits.

The biggest flops have been hotwheels sets and Hexbugs/ Hexbugs robot Wars sets!

Equimum · 13/09/2019 08:00

Sorry, just to clarify, by children were 3 and just 6 lasting christmas.

DelurkingAJ · 13/09/2019 08:03

Wooden trains (DS2, who is 3). Lego all the Lego (DS1 who is 6 and DS2). Board games (Junior Monopoly and Cluedo, Monopoly Deal, Orchard Games). A click-in electronics kit (Snap Circuits) (DS1).

Magnatiles have not been a success here.

Stompythedinosaur · 13/09/2019 08:19

TeaAndToastx2 · 13/09/2019 12:46

Just turned 2 yr old last Christmas, still plays with all his presents now. Toy kitchen and accessories, chad valley keyboard and sylvanian house and characters. Pleased they all get good use and hopefully will for a while to come

MyIncapableOne · 13/09/2019 13:59

@Stompythedinosaur please tell me more about the rock tumbler. My Dd is obsessed with collecting stones & this might be right up her street!

timeforawine · 13/09/2019 14:02

Toy kitchen
Leapfrog leapstart 3d book
Dolls (babies)

Just starting on Barbie now (age 3)

banskuwansku · 13/09/2019 14:08

Ds9 plays everyday with his Star Wars Lego. We gave him quite a few packs last Xmas so he could have battles and mini figures etc. We gave him gravitrax and he has played with it twice. He also got cheap arcade handhold game thing and it has been used a lot.

Dd7 plays a lot with her num nom, hatchimal and Pikmi pop collectibles. Also secret safe diary has been a hit. She got Lego as well but plays with them now and then.
