Hit me with all your Christmas breakfast traditions....

We've been having eggs benedict for the last few years. Me with bacon and DP with salmon.

Might try something different this year

Pigs in blanket rolls for me and DH with tomato sauce as we're normally driving from 5am to go and see my family so it's a mini Xmas just the two of us in the car....

We'd always have our Christmas dinner quite early so breakfast was always ginger marmalade on toast, usually a sourdough or something. And fresh coffee or Earl Grey tea. When I moved in with my partner I tried to keep that tradition, but we also have pain au chocolat too. This is our little ones first ever Christmas so hoping to start some new family traditions!

Kids have cereal and chocolate. I’ll have toast, coffee and later on bucks fizz with older 2.

Sooverthemill · 31/08/2019 21:16

Normal breakfast ( but the kids just eat the chocolate in their stockings) but lunch is smoked salmon, blinis and sour cream. My DHs family tradition and then turkey etc at 6pm. i confess I have granola do yoghurt 365 days a year it's my favourite food

I’ve heard very good things about Nigella’s Christmas muffins, but I’ve never tried them. I think she suggests you do the dry mix in the evening and then just mix it up in the morning and bake, which sounds great.

I make these most years, they are gorgeous. Going to try the spiced loaf a PP posted this year

SequinnedSlippers · 02/09/2019 01:37

Smoked salmon and rosti

@Sooverthemill that's my breakfast at the moment with horseradish cream. You are the first to mention blinis. Kids have chocolate porridge. Oh has whatever he decides that year.

CherryPavlova · 02/09/2019 07:07

A mug of tea. If people want to grab some toast, that’s fine but it’s usually a few chocolate coins before church.

Ofitck · 02/09/2019 07:25

Nobody else has toasted pannetone? It's divine!!! And bucks fizz of course..

spongemumnudiepants · 02/09/2019 07:40

GrinGrin same as usual for us-toast or cereal

spongemumnudiepants · 02/09/2019 07:42

Sorry!

whitebowls · 02/09/2019 07:59

Croissant, carrot cake (dd asked for it when young and it's traditional now), terry's chocolate orange segments, coffee, orange juice and champagne.
Every year since 1990.....

LellyM · 02/09/2019 12:07

Hi Nikanius, spongemum,

The Bucks Fizz is excellent apart from the year (when I was much younger) when we were all invited to our local pub for a BF Christmas breakfast. I have to confess we had so much we forgot the turkey was in the oven and got back to my grandmother commenting on how it was smelling a bit burned....... Surface of the breast meat was rock hard, we had to crack it off the rest of the bird and try to salvage what we could! This is still a story told every year at breakfast!!!

Freshly squeezed OJ.

Bowl of chopped fruit.

Large cafetiere of coffee.

Pastries - croissants or pain au raisin or cinnamon rolls - Jus-rol or M&S frozen versions are both good

Sometimes some rashers, or even a small fry, depending on what time we're up at and where we are (at home or a cottage near both extended families) as, while we will always have mass in the morning, we'll have 2 turkey dinners away from the cottage on those years, or 1 dinner quite late in the day when at home.

DD usually fills up on chocolate.

Alcohol comes much later in the day as there is always driving to be done (mass and visiting family) regardless of whether at home or a cottage.
