Hit me with all your Christmas breakfast traditions....

We've been having eggs benedict for the last few years. Me with bacon and DP with salmon.

Might try something different this year

Our one time extravagant Christmas breakfast was based loosely on this

www.foodnetwork.ca/recipe/french-toast-with-caramel-and-creme-fraiche/11168/

I used caramel from a sticky toffee pudding (just made extra sauce keeps great in a jar in the fridge), and a dollop of fresh cream just ru save also buying creme fraiche. I'm sure I put strawberries on the side. Must make it again it was delicious 😋 I wonder how crispy smoked streaky bacon might go with it 🤔

Jamhandprints · 20/08/2019 17:03

I'm with katy80. Cup of tea and a chocolate bar from my stocking.
Champagne with breakfast? I don't think I could do it.
We do have croissants later, after the present rush.

CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt · 20/08/2019 17:05

Pig in blanket sandwiches.. trust me, you can never have too many pigs in blankets on Christmas Day!!

Brightsparx03 · 20/08/2019 17:07

Glass of bucks fizz with cheese and ham croissants (30 seconds in the microwave so the cheese is melted) and voila a yummy breakfast that DM still mentions 5 years on and minimal effort!

Spanglyprincess1 · 20/08/2019 17:10

Made in advance and the loaf is kept in the freezer until xmas eve. Toasted with good butter. Lush.

Kissmyaxe · 20/08/2019 18:30

@detectivebird That’s my Christmas breakfast dilemma sorted! Thanks 😋

Ted27 · 20/08/2019 18:35

Pain au chocolat and home made raspberry smoothies made from berries grown on our allotment

Gingerkittykat · 20/08/2019 18:36

Half a tin of quality street and some strong coffee.

ExpletiveDelighted · 20/08/2019 18:38

Cinnamon buns here but if your family don't like cinnamon they are very nice made with mincemeat instead.

detectivebird · 20/08/2019 18:55

@Kissmyaxe my favourite is from aldi, with marzipan in the middle. drool!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/08/2019 19:02

If it's just us -
DH has scrambled eggs and toast
DS DD And I have croissants or pancakes

orange juice and coffee

Christmas Eve will be Cinnamon Swirls (the Jus Roll ones)

Boxing Day is full on breakfast - vegetaian sausages, mushrooms, vegetarian bacon, hash browns, beans, eggs (fried) toast , coffee ....and a good sit down.

We eat dinner after dark so loads of time to digest Xmas Grin

claireymrsd · 20/08/2019 19:08

A cup of tea and m&s chocolate biscuits !

MsSquiz · 20/08/2019 19:09

Growing up it was always a bacon sandwich with the bacon from on top of the turkey or croissants with chocolate spread.

As I got older the food stayed the same but we added a glass or 2 of Buck's Fizz into the mix.

For the past couple of years, DH and I have had pastries (pain au raisin and cinnamon rolls) with a glass of champagne

This year, anything could happen as my due date is 19th December but I'm convinced she'll be a Christmas Day baby!

ILoveGroot · 20/08/2019 19:11

We've done Nigellas muffin recipe before, with added marzipan balls in the middle, prepping the dry ingredients the night before makes it easier.

DH likes homemade pancakes with bacon, egg and maple syrup, or English muffins, with home made chilli jam, ham and poached egg.

I tend to have croissants and jam, with a gingerbread latte, as I think that's a nice treat!

NoWordForFluffy · 20/08/2019 19:23

The Nigella muffins freeze well if you want to make them ahead of time. They're bloody lovely!

didireallysaythat · 20/08/2019 19:27

@Whitecandle - your pancake idea sounds great. What kind of flour???

Whitecandle · 20/08/2019 19:43

@didireallysaythat I've used both plain and self raising... both have had the same results somehow!!

They are so easy and amazing!!

Crumpets, smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and bucks fizz for the adults and chocolate spread Christmas tree for the children. The Christmas tree has become a tradition so I now have to make it every year which I wasn't counting on!

DelphiniumBlue · 20/08/2019 19:49

We have brioche and croissants with a mix of sweet and savoury things to go with them, last year was cream cheese, lemon and orange curd, smoked salmon, and jam. I think DS3 had Nutella with his. Nothing too difficult/ time consuming as lunch is always at ours.

MitziK · 20/08/2019 19:55

A caffeine bomb.

It's a giant mug of black coffee made with double the usual amount of ground coffee, there's about a tablespoon of brown sugar in the bottom and a bloody good wallop of whiskey/scotch/bourbon.

It's too sweet and too strong, but at Christmas, I need a caffeine bomb.

The eating commences at 11 with a fry up including black pudding and fried bread.

tanqueray10 · 20/08/2019 20:05

@Candlesonthetable what’s the chocolate spread Christmas tree? Sounds amazing Smile

ChippyMinton · 20/08/2019 20:05

Two breakfasts here Xmas Grin . French or Danish pasties with the stockings. Bacon rolls when we get back from the open air pool.

Fantababy · 20/08/2019 20:10

Croissants / pain au chocolat with nice coffee and Buck's Fizz. Can't be bothered cooking (beyond putting frozen croissants in oven!)
DDs will have porridge.
