Christmas tree lights: white or multicoloured??

I’ve been looking to buy a Christmas tree from a certain brand I’ve fallen in love with. I’d really like one with built in lights because for some reason putting the lights on the tree is the one job that fills me with rage and is bound to cause one of those pointless bickery arguments between me and Mr BoM.

However the ones with coloured lights are a lot more expensive in what is already an expensive tree! I have always have coloured lights though and don’t think white are as pretty or festive.

Convince me why white lights are a good thing!

I like the coloured lights more for the children & my tree is disney dec & ones the kids have made so not matching
If u have a tree thats just 2 colours then i would go white lights.

White lights are much more tasteful. Colourful are for children.

I personally prefer a warm white - something about the combination of little white lights peeping out of the dark fir is SO festive to me. I think coloured lights can be pretty, but are also a bit garish.

@Gregoire warm white is beautiful. I go for just white but got to admit I have started liking warm white much better. I only brought my lights last year so don't think my partner will be too happy if decide to buy more. He already thinks I have too much Christmas stuff!

I have got that tree, mine is lit as my advice to you is don’t bother with a lot one. My other tree is a BH Fraser fir which is unlit. The FF would take bring lit (and the wires that brings) much better than the alpine - the alpine isn’t full enough to hide the wires.

Dear me spell check was not my friend there!

I have looked at the prices OP, don't buy atm. My alpine tree is the 4ft one for my snug and I paid £89 for it in October 2018. The same tree is listed as £179 which is ridiculous.

Wait for a better sale, it will happen.

Multi coloured and the more the better 😂

I've got a pre-lit Balsam Hill tree. The lights are a lovely warm white-not icy like some you see. However, I also have strings of coloured micro lights which I add.

buttertoasty · 06/08/2019 11:02

I had a prelit warm white one last year, but would love multicoloured.

No space for more than one tree unfortunately!

Ooh that’s a lovely tree. We always went white lights with red trimmings and it looked very classy, if I say so myself!
We do go multicoloured lights now, and I have an old set with pink in it, which you don’t seem to be able to get very easily now.

White look beautiful, so much 'nicer' and really warm a room on a winter night.
Multi-coloured remind me of my childhood and family Christmases with loved ones so I love them too.
Confused

IAintWroteNoPoetry · 06/08/2019 16:44

White is cosy, but multi-coloured reminds me of being little. I'd go with multi-coloured.

Hadenoughofitall441 · 06/08/2019 22:46

Multi, always had the woolies ones, they broke and had to quickly replace the, ended up getting blue. Looks very Christmassy 😊
