Anyone got any crazy ones for their christmas food delivery? I saw the thread from the lady with the appalling Asda delivery..........

Just had my receipt through and heaved a sigh of relief when they have only subbed a couple of bags of kettle chips with Pringles. Good job I like pringles!

Not quite the same but we ordered meat from the butcher including a beef joint and a massive pork joint because we have 20 people coming on Boxing Day. I was going to cook both of them today and then serve cold on Boxing Day buffet style with bubble & squeak, cheese, salads blah. I was raging this morning when DH came home with it all to find the pork (which is massive) frozen solid like a gigantic effing bullet. The excuse? Ran out of space. WtaF?! If I wanted a frozen one I would just have got it from the supermarket a few weeks ago!! They could have bloody well asked! Grrrrr.

*Mistletoe for cranberries

Xmas ShockXmas Confused that's hilarious! Maybe a good snog is the answer to not having an essential Xmas ingredient! Haha!

BrokenWing · 24/12/2018 16:40

I got mistletoe instead of cranberries

Dare you to phone Tesco as a pissed of customer receiving poisonous berries instead of edible ones and how an unsuspecting or elderly customer with the same substitution might actually eat them. Must be worth a voucher!

RavenLG · 24/12/2018 16:44

Not a Christmas substitute but once a friend ordered a pack of 100 tea lights and had a can of tomato soup as a substitute

haba · 24/12/2018 16:49

Ocado today:
Ritter Dark chocolate Peppermint substituted with aero bubbles FFS! We don't buy nestle, and other items in the delivery are clearly indicating dairy free (DD has CMP allergy)

haba · 24/12/2018 16:53

Ritter Dark chocolate Marzipan substituted with Niederegger Milk chocolate Marzipan Hmm at least Niederegger is nice, but still...could have sent Niederegger dark .

Waitrose tortillas substituted with Doritos yuck!

Lacto-free soft cheese substituted with vegan soft cheese (don't think that will go down well with PIL!)

And they missed off DH's crickets altogether Angry

haba · 24/12/2018 16:55

Also, the smoked salmon I put on the order in October was "out of stock" ... but they think I'll still need a dozen plain bagels FFS!

This is the first time in ten years ocado have fucked up for me though, TBF.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/12/2018 17:03

oooh, I should have phoned the company and accused them of trying to poison me with the mistletoe. Xmas Wink

I've decided that I'll email them next week when things are a bit calmer for them. It's a small veg box company and they are normally much more sane. They must have been on the sherry.

I've attempted to make cranberry sauce using cherries from the supermarket. It's not worked terrible well, but at least we won't die.

haba Are they crickets wot hop about the place? I didn't know Ocado did those.

PutDownThatLaptop · 24/12/2018 17:03

When I arrived at Morrisons today to collect the order that I had placed since the year dot, my prepared red cabbage in spice was substituted with a raw cabbage. My sprouts in chestnuts and sage butter was substituted for a bag of sprouts.

NoWordForFluffy · 24/12/2018 17:10

@OhYouBadBadKitten, if you were anywhere near me you could have the bag of frozen cranberries I have and don't need now. But - from memory based on weather threads - I don't think you are!

Scifi101 · 24/12/2018 17:11

@Efferlunt

I was going to ask what happens to rejected substitutions. So they just bin them? I guess the delivery driver is not allowed to take them home because of concerns regarding stealing?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/12/2018 17:42

Xmas Shock I forgot you can get them frozen. bugger.

That's really kind of you NoWord. I don't really actually mind, I'm pretty amused. My Christmas card to dh has got mistletoe on it. I've relabeled it cranberries.
I've got some spare chestnuts if anyone wants them Xmas Grin

haba · 24/12/2018 18:56

OYBBK yes, the jumping kind (but hopefully not still jumping as they're BBQ flavour! DH is trying to do his bit for the planet...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/12/2018 19:18

hmmmm. I think I'd try those.

MummySharkDoDo · 24/12/2018 19:51

All the fancy veg that we’ll pre-prepared on my Morrison’s shop we’re missed out

Bluelonerose · 24/12/2018 20:01

Only sub I had was Tesco custard for Tesco finest custard so I'm happy

haba · 24/12/2018 20:04

Gosh blue that's actually a sensible substitution!
Must be real Christmas elves at Tesco! Smile

Bumbumtaloo · 24/12/2018 20:26

Mine wasn’t too bad 4 cans of Guinness (for our ham) was replaced with 15, we rejected them as we have no need for 15 cans. Thai was Morrison’s, second year we’ve used them and they’ve been fab.

DrDiva · 24/12/2018 20:27

Well not a substitution, but an extra (and not food, but never mind!)

I just opened the package I collected from m&s with my 6yo’s requested black t-shirt, and out it fell - along with a pair of black lacy knickers in size 24. Shock

I ordered nothing but a t-shirt.
I am a size 12.

I am bemused...

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 24/12/2018 21:10

Ordered horseradish sauce, got tartare Hmm also got a boring pretzel snack selection instead of the bacon flavoured Christmas tree shaped pretzels I ordered but oh well! Meat and sprouts came so that’s what really matters

IceniSky · 24/12/2018 21:19

Asda. Instead of pickled eggs we had pickled onions. No cheese! DH had to go out at 0650 this morning to get some. We tried yesterday but couldn't bear the queues.

viccat · 24/12/2018 21:35

This year with Ocado was the best ever, usually there's always several out of stock items or subs and they've often been things that are not even available elsewhere locally. This time the only sub was a different brand of wood cat litter subbed for the one I ordered, everything else was there. Very happy with that!

Fresh veg and mince pies arrived from Abel & Cole this morning and all look great.
