Am I a horrible parent for not buying the pooing unicorn?

5yo DD has asked Santa for (amongst other things but not loads) a rainbow poopsie. It's fifty quid. We could afford it but it's a huge amount of money for tatt.

I'm 99% sure I'm holding my ground but 1% of me is wobbling as we get closer to Xmas.

She's got everything else on her list and will get loads of other stuff on Xmas day from me and DH and her grandparents
(including some poopsie slime that I bought on impulse in Smyths tonight!)

Tell me I'm right not to buy it please....

Why the fuck would anyone spend £50 on a shitting unicorn? I’m genuinely gobsmacked. Of all the hideousness....

Womantheonlykind · 19/12/2018 08:27

Agreed, jobbies aren't toys, pooh is not for playing with. Eurgh!

BobDobbs · 19/12/2018 08:37

There's no way I'm getting one of those horrible things! It will be played with for five minutes, ruin my carpet, and then join the mountain of plastic which is killing the planet.

Plus Dc2 is potty training and the last thing I want to teach him is that poo is a toy...

adviceonthepox · 19/12/2018 09:35

I've refused to get it for my DDs they both want one and I can't believe how much it is for plastic tat.

BlueOooChristmas · 19/12/2018 09:50

Shall I play devil's advocate? It's Christmas. I know deep down we'd all love our kids for ask for useful and hard wearing toys but if you can't ask for a shitting unicorn at Christmas, when can you? Grin

Seriously though, my father-in-law bought one of these for our DD's 6th Birthday last month. We'd seen all the horrible reviews and I told the husband he could do it with her. My daughter had a lot of fun with it (even though it doesn't work perfectly). It's been cleaned and both kids like playing with the unicorn toy without the slime now. If you can get it reduced (£36 is what FIL got it for) then I'd say go for it. At RRP it's very overpriced.

I know a lot of the kids in my daughter's class have it on their Christmas lists, which added to the pressure of us getting one I think. If you do end up getting one and it's the rainbow one she really wants one of the school mums told me she slipped her phone under the plastic top and took a picture to see which one she had. It doesn't damage the box apparently.

'Shitting music ' 😂😂😂😂😂😁😁😁🤣🤣

Angelinthenight · 19/12/2018 19:40

I think she will forget she has asked for it once she see's other toys. They do look rubbish and are not cute either. Dont worry about not getting it x

Lovemusic33 · 19/12/2018 21:15

Apparently it’s not that great, reviews are poor. I have gone for the smaller poopsie slim things and not the unicorn.

Apparently toys like slime and squishies have high levels of toxins in them.

Fairylightfurore · 19/12/2018 21:25

Absolutely no way. Even if it cost £5 I wouldn't get it. The kids know, no slime no poo no tat. They also know they don't get most of what's on their lists so I wouldn't feel guilty on the slightest.
