If you filled your own stocking...

I'm seriously considering getting my own little bits for my stocking and a few bits for dh. Stockings were my most treasured aspect of Christmas as a child but dh gets very stressed about present giving so I'm thinking of just doing it for both of us and not saying until Christmas eve. The dc are asking about mummy and daddy's stockings (FC brings stockings and one present here) so I'd like to do them.

So far I'm thinking for mine:
Nice dark chocolate
Nice body moisturiser
Fluffy socks
Nice pants
Book
Snow globe

What would you put in your own stocking as little treats/luxuries you wouldn't normally buy?

So relieved it's not just my mother who does this! DH is rather better than my DF in that he will venture to the shops and buy random things, but is not a natural exchanger of gifts (4 years of toothpicks, WHY?!) so this year I have told him to stick to new wellies and decided to join her.
So far I have; mini lipstick, red velvety underwear, Christmas socks, "bad elf" t shirt from primark (ok I already wore that but will put in stocking anyway), hair clip, mini chocolate wreath from hotel chocolat, snow bears dvd, dog whistle, dog lead, horrifyingly expensive waterproof gloves and a small jelly cat reindeer to look out the top.
I'd like to add a bath bomb, mini prosecco or some Aldi champagne, and a 2018 bauble.
I am trying to resist several books, a tie and a new hat and scarf but if the ones I want are reduced before Christmas I probably won't though!

I would love DH to do me a surprise stocking.

I literally know 95% of the presents in our house at Christmas as I have shopped for them all!

I buy all,our presents to family and friends, my DF Gifts to family plus organise flowers for his neighbours, my MIL gifys to everyone inc m DH and myself, my DS gifts to me and DH and to Grandparents and Uncle,. It would be lovely to have lots of little surprises that I had not bought or wrapped !

So if he were doing the stocking I would love any of thebelow-

Andreas Bocelli latest CD
Something from Jo Malone - he knows the fragrances I like
Posh hand cream
Bling freixenet bottle- rose
Twisbi ink well
Diamine shimmer ink
Pencil sharpener - like the one on Katie Leamon website
Maple Brazil's
Red bottle limited Chanel No 5
Penguin cloth hardback of Anne of Green Gables
EOS lip balm
L'Occitane hand wipes
Cashmere socks
A lovely handwritten something

We are doing stockings for me and DH each this year for the first time. We have set a price limit each. I want in mine a new pretty travel mug, some colouring pencils (maybe watercolour ), a new pencil case and don't really mind what else. Not sure whether I will get those but I can hope! DH is getting in his gin chocolates, smelly stuff (he doesn't get obligatory socks for Christmas but obligatory fcuk smellies every year! ), hand warmers, some nice thick walking socks not yet sure what other stuff.

I'd put in my stocking:

Tube of Fortnum & Masons chocolate & macadamia nut biscuits bloody lovely they are as well as £££

Mini articulate or logo game
Pack of cards
can of Fever tree tonic
Shower gel
Body cream
Gloves
Posh lipstick

TheBaltictriangle · 11/12/2018 03:43

Book from the folio society

My dh makes my stocking. I usually get a new bone china mug, Thornton toffee, malteasers, nice knickers, Dove shower gel and body lotion, gloves, DVD, book and last year a foot pedi because i had been moaning about hard skin on feet.

onedsrightnow · 11/12/2018 03:52

I do my own stocking and this year I got a 2 for €5 subscription box, which means 10 mini beauty items for me to try!

dirtyprettything · 11/12/2018 12:23

Cashmere socks
All of the booker shortlist
Salted caramels
Miniature gins
A luxury blanket or throw
Chanel hand cream
Clarins Bath/shower gel

I love this thread! Dh excellently present buyer lately, after initial promise then a few random less effort years ( prob from both of us, actually).
I would like:
Some kind of chocolate truffle - Thornton’s Continental
Dior rose lip balm and & abricot nail balm - would never buy usually
Posh tights/ holdups - Falke or Wolford - ditto
Multi-tool
Fingerless cashmere gloves
Fluffy bed socks
Nice garden seeds pref sweet peas
Garden twine in a bright colour - Nutscene
Mini prosecco or champagne
Old-school Parker ballpoint pen
Post it notes in deep colours
L’Occitane almond shower oil
Lush Dream Cream

Am trying to think up similarly fab things for dh...

Inthetropics · 12/12/2018 11:41

I always do my own stocking. I usually have

  • Chocolate
  • Small Pringles
  • Crosswords
  • Fancy body lotion
  • A toothbrush
  • A nice pen
  • A small moleskine
  • A small jar of olives
Taffeta · 12/12/2018 11:52

This is a lovely thread and has made me think I’m going to do one for my mum who is staying with us this year. My Dad died a couple of months ago and he always did the most fabulous stockings for us, right into our 20’s.

Thanks! Flowers

I’m thinking of filling it with her favourites:
Chocolate marzipan
Satsuma
Almond hand cream
Notepad
Fluffy bed socks
And maybe a scratch card for a laugh

Misty9 · 12/12/2018 13:29

It's making me feel all warm and fuzzy that my thread has inspired some bits of loveliness amidst all the chaos currently going on in the UK.

I've bought slipper socks for my stocking so far... Xmas Smile

Ooh my ideal stocking would have a book, a kindle voucher, a luxury face moisturiser, ceridwens cauldron bath melt from lush, some hotel chocolat dark chocolate, a collagen face mask and some nice socks.

BlackeyedGruesome · 14/12/2018 17:24

warm gloves, hand cream, chocolate, satsuma or two, pens, staedler pencils, a double holed pencil sharpener, (they always disappear) glue spatulas, (also disappear and fed up of looking for them for the children) more chocolate, reading glasses, leather driving gloves, a car chamois for the windscreen.
