His birthday is December too.

He likes gaming so for his birthday have got him a gaming chair, headphones, 2 games he wants (gonna look crap wrapped up but they were 50 quid each Shock ) and some small bits.

Now for Christmas he won't tell me a thing.

He says he doesn't want anything as he has everything he needs

Which is lovely and sweet and unexpected from a teenager but also incredibly frustrating as a present buyer.

He used to read but he just cares about gaming now Sad

He isn't into clothes.
Not into music

He says he doesn't want money as that's sad at Christmas.

I'm pulling my hair out.

I need suggestions please

My children never told me what they wanted. The fun is the surprise! Also, lots of teenagers aren't very materialistic at all- it is just a stereotype. Your son sounds absolutely lovely.

What about a young driver lesson? My son loved his at that age- a real car and real driving instructor.

Something for his room- a poster, new lamp, or new rug

A popcorn popper or sandwich toaster

Tickets to an event or show

Costa or Starbucks card

dementedpixie · 08/12/2018 09:31

My kids are both the same. No point giving them money as they have plenty and don't spend what they have. Dd (15) isn't into clothes or make up or much else. Ds is 12 and doesn't really want or need anything either. It was easier when they were younger and would choose everything out the Argos catalogue!

darkriver198868 · 08/12/2018 09:42

What about a gift card for his console ?

Oblomov18 · 08/12/2018 09:46

Similar here. Totally understand.

Mamabearx4 · 08/12/2018 09:55

Mini fridge
Ninja coat hooks
Yearly subscribtion for online console, or related gaming magizine
Dvds/giftcard for films on console
Wallet themed on favorite game
A nice belt with fancy buckle
Torch
Posters

Allthepinkunicorns · 08/12/2018 09:56

Cinema gift card, chocolate, another game? Stuff for his room, trainers. Stuff for hobby if he has one. Stationary for school. A family day out to a theme park. Themed stuff of his favourite computer game.

PipGoesPop · 08/12/2018 10:53

Drink cup with lid that he can use when he's gaming?

Cinema tickets?

Onesie/pjs.

Chocolate.

PoutySprout · 08/12/2018 10:55

Why get anything if he doesn’t want anything?

Wait until there is something he wants and buy it for him then.

Pondering1 · 08/12/2018 11:11

How about an experience type gift? Race car driving, zoo animal keeper days etc? Our local deep sea world aquarium has junior shark diving experiences.
Or teenage suitable board games that the family can play? We got 'what's that smell' that is lots of disguising scratch and sniff challenges

SimplyPut · 08/12/2018 11:23

I second a young driver lesson or tickets for a concert/show.

Aftershave
Clothes
Trainers
Board game - something more grown up
Lego
Another computer game

InflagranteDelicto · 08/12/2018 11:25

Costa voucher
Funky lamp
Stationery
Baking kit- you know, the 'add egg to pack' cupcakes
Cushion for his bed
Bike lights

I have a 14yo who's only request is a video camera to take videos of trains. Am equally stumped.

kalefire · 08/12/2018 11:26

Same age as my DS. Mine's Xmas list looks like this for inspo

Nike trainers - airforce 1 and vapormax

Nike hoody and bottoms

Fred Perry t shirt

Anime posters (going to put in frames so they look a bit better)

Monitor for his gaming
Speakers to go in monitor

"Nice" watch (then he hyper linked to a Tommy Hilfiger one) 🙄

Silly socks from Topman
(Attached à pic)

Aftershave (lol, like he needs to shave)

DS. Almost 14 won't tell me a single thing he wants for Christmas. Help me
explodingkittensexpansion · 08/12/2018 11:33

Open a bank account if he doesn’t have one or a deposit account if he does. Start a car fund.

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 08/12/2018 11:33

Xbox live gift card
Led light strips for behind his tv/monitor
Echo Dot and smart plug to turn lights on/off, set timer, for you to call him for tea, play music
Sweet hamper
Blanket to go over his knees

explodingkittensexpansion · 08/12/2018 11:35

Don’t buy loads of crap they will go in the bin. I learned this with mine, he wants what he wants which isn’t much and is mostly specialist animee stuff. Anything else is just left, we found all the opened presents unused in his stocking the following year.

explodingkittensexpansion · 08/12/2018 11:38

The Vietnamese noodle socks are quite specific and not sure they would be mass audience.

Danglingmod · 08/12/2018 11:39

You've bought loads for his birthday - can't you save some of it back?

If he doesn't want anything, don't buy for the sake of it. I'd share the gifts you've got across both events and add some money to his saving account if you want to spend more.

cleanhousewastedlife · 08/12/2018 11:40

I second the idea of waiting until there is something he wants. Why not give him a "token" you make which is good for a present later in the year when there is something he really wants? You could always stick that on a huge box of his favourite snack! That's the problem with a winter birthday - it's all at once - whereas by spring/ summer there might be something he wants or needs. It sounds like he is already getting loads for his birthday so he will still have parcels to open. Perhaps split those over birthday and Christmas?

Ceecee18 · 08/12/2018 11:42

Board games to play on Christmas Day? I've got my brother (a little bit older) monopoly but the deadpool version so we can play it Christmas Day as there's nothing he wants.

NoLeslie · 08/12/2018 11:43

My teen asked for a dog, not sure that helps!!!

Sethis · 08/12/2018 11:45

PC gamer or Console gamer?

If nothing else, a card with "IOU one birthday treat, whatever it might be" inside has always suited me fine.

A flight in a helicopter or small plane is always fun.

FortyFacedFuckers · 08/12/2018 11:46

My son is 13 at Christmas and like your son hadn’t said a single thing he wants, he likes clothes so I have got him some of them.
He has got tickets to a football match
Trainers
I got him headphones/mic for gaming
And headphones to listen to music
Docking station/alarm clock

WishfulSprouts · 08/12/2018 11:48

An experience? Does he like football - tour around his teams stadium
I’ve seen some nostalgic video console machines being sold I looked into for Dh some bit pricey but could be of a ‘different’ present for your ds
New trainers
Also going to say am Echo too

cowfacemonkey · 08/12/2018 11:49

I agree about not buying a load of tat so he has something to open. Mines getting Xbox voucher, tickets for something he enjoys doing, some clothes (a bit more branded than I’d normally get) and I’m doing a food hamper of all his favourite sweets, snacks and drinks and things like a particular brand of sauce he likes and fancy eye watering oh my priced nuts!)

cowfacemonkey · 08/12/2018 11:49

Over priced
