Really don't want to have to do elf on the shelf. Can anyone help with and explanation for why we don't have one that DD would believe??

An alternative would be The Kindness Elves. There's a website. Ours only arrive for the 12 days of Christmas.

DD (8yo) told me today, "mum, please don't get those creepy elves I hate them." I had no intention of getting them but I am so pleased. Smile

Whatever it is stop making arguments about elf and santa. The important is we celebrate Christmas with love and joy.Wink

A good alternative to the elf is letters from the elves in the actual North Pole.

My kids have had these a couple of years and they are much more magical than some glass eyed freak lying around the house.

You get to hear all about what they’re up to in the North Pole.

Don't moan at other people's traditions because you don't agree with them.

I agree with this - it’s anout having respect for the way other people choose to live. But it works both ways - don’t moan if other people don’t facilitate/play along with your chosen way of doing things and start shouting about how Christmas is “ruined” because some child at school told your child that her mum said that elves aren’t real.
