Mine is so hopeless at telling me what she'd like.
I like anything you get me.....
Shiny, sparkly things but not expensive...

Gah. Have you had any brainwaves for yours?

A neck massager, an LED candle, a book I saw recommended on here, a framed photo of herself she loves cuddling a chicken.

PJs
Slippers
Socks (everyone gets socks)
Skincare stuff
A nice top
Bottle of gin
A pair of winter boots
A department store gift voucher

My mum is on her own, on a low income and me, DH & DC are her only family, so she’ll only get gifts from us. Hence, we tend to go a bit OTT.

My Mum's no longer with us but when she was
I'd buy her a large bottle of her favourite perfume.
Nice bath stuff,so more expensive than she'd buy for her self but that she really loved.
Decent hand cream.
A large bottle of baileys, she hardly ever drank but she did love a drop of baileys now and again.
Costume jewellery.
A nice scarf and a broach.
Sometimes I'd buy her some clothes as well or I'd give her gift vouchers for a shop/shops she liked so she could buy some new clothes.
Once she became Coeliac me and my DH would make her up a huge hamper of tons of different food and treats,I'd stick in different types of biscuits, cakes, crackers, mini packets of flavoured crackers, pasta, cereal, crumpets, pitta breads, wraps, pancakes, pizza bases. The hamper was on top of the other gifts.
I know that last one most probably sounds strange but my parents were both disabled when they got older so didn't have lots of money and the hamper was always one of my Mum's most favourite presents.
It ment my Mum got lots of lovely food that she enjoyed and it saved my parents about £60-£70 of they're shopping bill for the next 3-4 weeks.

This year for my MIL were buying her some nice gloves(probably about £30)a nice scarf,a broach and some decent hand cream we've already bought her a nice Cat cup in a box and a selfie cat calendar from our 5DC were also going to get her some nice bath stuff from the DC and I'm thinking of getting a nice plant sent to her as well.

A Radley purse. Fancy chocs and face cream, she always asks for face cream 😂

I find mums easiest to buy for always stuck with the men! Mine usually gets along the lines of perfume, bath sets, chocolates, a nice mug, personalised things with photos of grandchildren on, photo frames and ornaments for the house, puzzles and knitting accessories (altogether not just from me). If she’s into jewellery/fashion could you organise a day just two you, go for lunch and treat her to some nice bits?

I've got my mum a lovely freestanding full-length mirror, the front of it opens and inside is lots of spaces to hang all sorts of jewellery! I know she'll love it. Also got her a beauty box and a lovely photo frame (I will put a photo in it) and she'll get one of my chocolate biscuit christmas puddings too Xmas Smile

I got mine a fitbit

Greaterthanthesumoftheparts · 29/11/2018 12:01

Two ears ago I started buying DM (and myself) the annual Swarovski Christmas ornament. That’s Christmas presents sorted for ever. Plus a calendar of pictures of the kids. This year as a bonus I got a photo frame in the sale so she got that too.

Girlicorne · 29/11/2018 12:45

I ve got my mum a tin and in it I ve put ten envelopes with a note in each one for a day out/experience with me and the kids for 2019. Some of them are free others I ll book and pay for through the year. She can keep tickets and other memories from our adventures in the tin and I ve bought her a scrap book for photos etc from our year. It didn't cost much but its a whole year of memories and shared experiences I hope she's going to love it!

A luxury pillow - people rarely change their pillows and my mother would never spend decent money on a pillow but loved the one I bought her.

Does it have to be something g different every year. I think a magazine subscription can be doubled up, so can nice skincare.

DaanSaaf · 29/11/2018 18:39

Fishes sorry, only just got back to this. They're called inscripture.

mycatplotsdeath · 29/11/2018 19:28

Mines getting a Fitbit

balalalala · 29/11/2018 20:22

We're renewing the RHS membership we bought her last year - it was a hit apparently!
