Mine is so hopeless at telling me what she'd like.
I like anything you get me.....
Shiny, sparkly things but not expensive...

Gah. Have you had any brainwaves for yours?

GaryBaldbiscuit · 29/11/2018 06:19

I think also some family photos as she gave a hint she wanted some

FishesThatFly · 29/11/2018 06:28

Over the years - Sleepwear, gift vouchers, photo calender, heated pad as suffers neck pain, cinema tickets, mum collects fairies so fairy ornaments for the garden, hand embroidered diary.

MaverickSnoopy · 29/11/2018 07:17

This year and areopress and some coffee along with a couple of books.

GoldenCurls · 29/11/2018 08:04

My mum is getting a new dressing gown, some Body Shop stuff that she likes and her favourite chocolates.

I’ve also bought her and my stepdad a bottle of Isle if Harris gin (following a really helpful thread on here).

BriocheBriocheBrioche · 29/11/2018 08:07

I bought her a really lovely sleep/eye mask. She mentioned she wanted one a while ago and I knew she’d never buy herself a decent one.

I am making little hampers of local (to me in France) products so will probably do one of those for my parents too.

DelurkingAJ · 29/11/2018 08:11

Membership of the local botanical gardens and a photo calendar (first is as requested, second is expected). Previously I’ve bought her books, a Kindle (sadly not a great hit), a memory bank for her PC.

DPIL...I want to see if we can buy them National Trust membership, but need DH to ask them. We usually spend more on them as we have more disposable cash than they do whereas DM has more than we do. For many years we bought them practical things they couldn’t quite run to...now that my youngest BIL has left home we don’t feel we need to as much but they appreciate it and I know things are still tighter than they are for DM.

Chewbecca · 29/11/2018 08:48

I almost always buy my mum clothes, jewellery or perfume. This year it is a sparkly top from Coast.

DaanSaaf · 29/11/2018 08:50

A keyring engraved with her dad's handwriting. The company does jewellery as well.

TimeWoundsAllHeals · 29/11/2018 08:55

Sleep journal. Not sure she’ll like it. Honestly most presents she just leaves lying around, one year we rewrapped her presents from the year before as a joke and she didn’t notice.

But she is always worried about her sleep so if she did use it it might help.

IForgotThisEvening · 29/11/2018 09:03

My mum loves a label so I’ve got her a DKNY dressing gown and pyjamas. Also got her a flower subscription but changed it from once a week to once a month.

@worriedmum42 I used Freddie’s flowers, if you want to you can use my code and get your first bunch free!

Daansaaf - have you got a website for that please

TrickyD · 29/11/2018 09:53

Does she like baking? DS1 and DP gave me a stand mixer a couple of years ago. Not a posh Kitchenaid, an Andrew James one, they cost about £79. It is absolutely invaluable for my purposes, mainly cake, pastry etc.

Otherwise perfume she would not buy for herself.

Doje · 29/11/2018 09:58

This year she's requested a photobox canvas with pictures of the kids on.

My mum likes a brooch and chunky jewelery so that is always easy enough to buy.

I heard about a book called Cactus yesterday that I think I might get my MIL.

JudgeRindersMinder · 29/11/2018 10:01

I don’t have my mum now unfortunately, but was in John Lewis yesterday and saw beautiful cashmere jumpers I know she’d have loved -one in coral and one in sky blue-both colours she loved and looked good in

MadameJosephine · 29/11/2018 10:17

She’s forever asking me to give her hard copies of photos of the kids rather than send them electronically so I’m making her a photo book and putting a couple of pics in nice frames
