As ever I am struggling for ideas. So far I have got him:
Socks (Yes, I know)
A biography "The Lost Soul of Eamon Magee"
And a small gift set box of three mini ports with a glass

What are you getting for your dh /dp?

We celebrate both Hannukah and Christmas so we exchange a lot of gifts, mostly small ones. So far I've hot him:

A soundbar for the tv (as he complains that a lot of actors mumble)
A small whiteboard and markers (as he's gone back to college for a career change)
Knitted fleece socks
A butter dish (don't ask 😂)
A chillys bottle
A thing that cuts chips (as for some reason he struggles to cut them by hand but always cooks them in the actifry)
Some hot chocolate and fair trade sweets from oxfam
A fleece jumper and a polo shirt
Some books

His birthday is in January and for that he's getting an iPad.

lovesugarfreejelly63 · 30/11/2018 18:05

We don't buy each other gifts instead we donate food to the Foodbank, suits both of us.

rosablue · 30/11/2018 18:18

@SatsukiKusakabe You might get some odd looks from your dh to start with (I did Grin) just because the concept of putting on dedicated warm trousers seemed such an alien concept, it was as if it was wasteful to buy a pair of trousers just to wear to play rugby or football... but given it's twice a week each for rugby and football - during the winter, standing still so tricky to keep warm, they have actually had so much use. Plus they’ve been great for going to the odd real rugby or football match, going out in the snow when it snowed lots last winter, wearing when he went to a music group that had rehearsals in a freezing old church and so on. I still don’t understand why so many of the others that go every week stand and shiver for so long!

This year DH is getting a set of stainless steel wine glasses and plates for camping. A retro camping light. A leatherman tool, some espresso cups, some bike lights and a very expensive bottle of 18 year old whisky.

SatsukiKusakabe · 30/11/2018 18:29

To be honest, his confusion would just add to my enjoyment of giving him them Grin He has just gone out tonight saying how rubbish he feels after standing in the cold. The kids stay warm running about but standing still in it just creeps into you.

jelliebelly · 30/11/2018 18:45

From me and other family members for birthday and Christmas in the same week:
Creed aftershave
Wireless phone charger
Gin
Sausage hamper
Nando's gift card
Barbour jumper
Tickets to see Brian Blessed
England RFU hold-all

ifiwasabutterfly · 30/11/2018 18:57

@jelliebelly a sausage hamper? Is this something you have bought or are putting together?

jelliebelly · 30/11/2018 18:57

Sausage hamper from brorough box - quite easy to do your own though I guess (if not lazy like me!)

jelliebelly · 30/11/2018 18:59

Or direct from Mountain's Boston sausage

EvaHarknessRose · 30/11/2018 19:14

His list is
Cycle helmet
Rucksack
Belt
Golf umbrella
Various hiking kit
‘An experience’ which was daunting me as I am on a tight budget but I have found a doozy of an experience which he will love for £35 each and we can make it a weekend away too
I’ve also made him a photobook of something we did this year which is important to him
And dd is getting him a hoodie

Gentlygently · 30/11/2018 19:38

Link to the lock picking kit please?

junebirthdaygirl · 30/11/2018 19:53

Does elverybody buy their dh lots of presents? We just buy one each.
Also waiting for lock picking link. My dh would be in heaven with that.. recently he was studying it on utube. ( not a robber,, but odd interests)

butterflymum · 30/11/2018 20:04

@rosablue I posted this the other week on the main Christmas thread, but in case you missed:

Blues Box Guitar .

I bought this or similar as a Christmas present a couple of years ago and it seemed to go down well. Needs to be constructed, which adds to its interest. Quiet a pleasing sound too.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/11/2018 20:06

Will a soundbar stop the tv mumbling issue?

MsAwesomeDragon · 30/11/2018 20:07

I've bought mine a George foreman grill, because ours is broken. And a hair clipper because again ours is broken.

He will also get beer, socks, pants, "manly" smellies.

BeaLola · 30/11/2018 20:12

mine is incredibly hard to buy for - his family don't really do presents so he thinks he is easy as it doesn't matter if I don't buy him anything but I would mind terribly.

So far...

good socks
walnut whips
Chanel bleu aftershave
Next funny Christmas tshirt
Silicone bread maker from Lakeland with some flour & yeast
Michael Caine's Autobiography
Bendicks bittermints as he adores them (I hate them !)
Google speaker thing

MrsAird · 30/11/2018 20:13

books off his book list.
DVDs off his DVD list.
CDs off ..you guessed it.

My efforts to find something unusual and original are never very successful. He just wants to get Christmas over with, does not want for anything, and I have to kick him not to start with the 'excessive consumerism' speech just when everyone in the family is opening gifts around the tree.

I did buy him a Sigg flask for footie matches, so hopefully that will be appreciated, and a soap dish for the bathroom which we need.

I tend to indulge my creative gift giving on everyone else. Bah humbug.

Chewbecca · 30/11/2018 20:18

Mine had asked for a set of ladders Hmm
He is also getting a digital photo frame and a book (about Erasmus).
Used to get him lots of chocolate too but he has given it up for good (& lost 2 stones).

MnerXX · 30/11/2018 20:22

I have so far bought him:
Xmas jumper from his football club (he’s getting this tomorrow so he can make the most of it). It is so cheesy!

Slippers
Underwear
Chocs
Chilli hot choc from hotel chocolat

DS is getting him a rubber chicken

Normally I get him some comedy gig tickets but I want to get us some tickets for a band instead. I am struggling at the mo to find something. He’s much more in the know than I am.

rosablue · 30/11/2018 20:26

@butterflymum thanks for that - I had missed that on the main threads. Will definitely check it out Grin

BehemothPullsThePeasantsPlough · 30/11/2018 20:43

Placemarking for inspiration. I think I might get him a cooking course - maybe for the both of us - or maybe family.

Lozz22 · 30/11/2018 20:49

So far he's got a big tub of liquorice allsorts in a Bertie Bassett shaped tub and a camper van shaped tin with chocolate chip cookies inside it and that's it. He hates Christmas as much as i do!! I'll probably also get him a new beanie hat for work, a new book and some smellies given he loves spending hours in the shower

Whatsnewwithyou · 30/11/2018 21:01

I think the soundbar will make a difference to the tv sound quality and should therefore improve the mumbling, @OhYouBadBadKitten. I researched the matter and found several articles about how tv sound quality is almost always really poor without a soundbar. I can't be totally sure though as we haven't tried it yet.

winterisstillcoming · 30/11/2018 21:02

Mine is getting a wireless charging dock, bamboo socks and some chocolate. I'm also considering buying him a heated seat pad for his car.

Acopyofacopy · 30/11/2018 21:15

We only do one gift each, too.
Dh is getting a fancy desk lamp for his hobby.
