Our son's lovely partner is a very strict Vegan . So no wool, silk, leather as well as the obvious food no-nos. I am trying to think of something around the £20 - 30 region, as their main present will be the family ski trip.

She has plenty of vegan cook books, I have previously given her vegan bath stuff etc, so want to ring the changes, her main hobby is climbing but she seems well equipped for that and she has plenty of ski gear.

There must be something!

Hard to say without knowing her interests. There are loads of vegan companies out there providing Everything from bags to chocolate.

Vouchers for a vegan restaurant for her and your son? Jewellery?

Veterinari · 26/11/2018 18:56

If she’s into climbing then clothing for that - check out banana fingers or Tiso for nice climbing apparel

MoanaofMotunui · 26/11/2018 19:03

Booja booja 'chocolates' and a bottle of Besos (vegan baileys) 😁

SatsukiKusakabe · 26/11/2018 21:48

I would get her something that is nothing to do with her being vegan - I mean obviously taking it into an account regarding brands or cruelty free companies etc - but what about a book, or iTunes voucher, make up, a photobook or frame, a coffee press, Bluetooth headphones etc. Matt and Nat do vegan bags purses etc, might have something within budget.

Verbena87 · 26/11/2018 22:10

There are some great climbing books around - I enjoyed Gwen Moffat’s ‘space beneath my feet’.

And booja booja truffles are blooming glorious (I’m an enthusiastic omnivore but would choose them over most other chocolates as they’re so good. Ditto their vegan chocolate icecream.)

hurrythefuckupgeorge · 26/11/2018 22:15

Could I ask where the vegan wraps are from please ajw88?

Sorry to hijack OP!

Ideas from me are a chillys bottle or rapanui t shirt assuming she is into eco friendly stuff as a vegan.

Pai skincare which is gorgeous- vegan and in biodegradable packaging etc

Lucylugs · 26/11/2018 22:15

My vegan friend gave me a lovely reversible bag with matching purse from M&S. It's so handy for shopping, kids stuff, swimming etc.

newyeardelurker · 26/11/2018 22:17

Thinking of this for a vegan friend this year:

www.souschef.co.uk/products/the-big-vegan-cheese-making-kit?variant=16907947507770

There's a vegan almond milk Bailey's.

Or a book, game, nice bath stuff, whatever her hobbies are.

Good luck.

CrispbuttyNo1 · 26/11/2018 22:18

Voucher for go-outdoors?

Racheyg · 26/11/2018 22:20

Vegan toiletries?

MrsSquiggler · 26/11/2018 22:30

I always ask for the fancy 'nut' cheeses for Christmas - they're too expensive to buy for every day so are definitely a luxury but are just so much nicer than the vegan cheese from the supermarket. You have to order early though, they do sell out.

Vegan candles

Staringcoat · 26/11/2018 22:36

A chilli gift box or flavours of Middle East gift box from Spice Mountain here.

Stumpted88 · 26/11/2018 22:44

I would get her something around her interests not her diet preferences.

Perhaps a voucher for an outdoors shop (Blacks etc) A book about climbing? A subscription to a climbers magazine (I can imagine there are more than a few!)

or even just some primark pyjamas and a bottle of gin!

TrickyD · 26/11/2018 22:46

Thank you everyone!
I checked out Tiso, great suggestion, Vetinerari, but a quick call to DS revealed she is well supplied with the gloves which I had thought Ideal.
She is not much of a drinker, so Almond Bailey's, which I rather fancy, not really appropriate, but a climbing book is a brainwave, thanks Verbena!
I really appreciate all these suggestions, and will check out the nut cheese. They will be with us for Christmas and, Mrs Squiggler, you are so right about the supermarket cheeses, some of which we have bought for her on previous visits.
Thanks again Xmas Smile

I'd go for a book.

[Why is wool bad??]

Leeds2 · 26/11/2018 22:48

I don't know where it came from, but my DD got a purse last year which was made out of recycled fire hoses. She loved it!
This year, I have bought her some vegan vanilla marshmallows, which I hope will taste nice.

Craftycorvid · 26/11/2018 22:49

Lush goodies are generally appreciated and many are vegan.

Annandale, I assume shearing is potentially painful or distressing for the sheep. Honey is banned too, exploiting the bees.

I am a veggie so have no problems with that variety of cooking, but I do find it hard to find nice things to make for our (unofficial) DIL, particularly cakes and puddings. Butter can easily be replaced but so many recipes involve eggs, and the egg substitute powder is not brilliant.

Confused

But sheep that aren't properly cared for including shearing get diseases don't they?

Oh I'm no expert.

BambooWhoosh · 27/11/2018 17:51

I stumbled upon this website yesterday while on folksy

www.susiefaulks.co.uk She sells vegan approved bags and accessories.
