How is everyone's Christmas prep looking one month out?

I've almost finished present shopping, just a couple of bits for DH and one nephew that we're still trying to find something for. No wrapping yet though, that's a December job!

New decorations for the tree have been bought. Tree will go up in 2 weeks time.

Cards bought, I'm off work this week so will get them written then they go in the post at the start of December.

Need to arrange seeing mine and DH's siblings at some point in the next few weeks as we still do gifts for the kids and prefer to exchange them in person following the great missing parcel drama of 2015!

No set plans for food but expect that we'll have roast chicken instead of turkey as we usually do.

Haven't even started to think about New Year yet! Usually end up staying home or spending a fairly quiet night with a few good friends.

Getting there. Most presents bought (or at least planned). Have wrapped some too Blush
Gifts for family in Aus wrapped and posted.
Need to book my Tesco deliver slot tomorrow when they launch.

Hellohah · 25/11/2018 09:44

I thought I was pretty prepared, but I'm starting to panic now haha.
I don't do dinner (we go to family), I reuse my Christmas decorations so have all that.
I got presents way back in September and wrapped as I go, but I still have the awkward people to buy for. And I have ideas of the perfect gift and then can never bloody find it 😡

Carpetglasssofa · 25/11/2018 09:49

I'm not.

Actually, I've made the cake. And I'm not hosting this year, so it's just presents, really. It will all be fine. It will all be fine.

CakeNinja · 25/11/2018 09:50

I’m not at all.
Going shopping next Saturday so will write a list of who I need to buy for this week and what I’m going to get them. That’s always the hardest bit for me.
I have a huge list of people to buy for and the earlier I start, the more I buy so hopefully this will make it easier.
Dp is in charge of food and the butchers order although thankfully I have booked my supermarket slot.
I don’t do cards.
We have decorations so nothing needed there, and we go on holiday for new year so nothing to think about there.
So really, just ALL THE PRESENTS to buy Grin

yesmelord · 25/11/2018 09:56

I've finished Christmas shopping, wrapped half and I'm ordering the Christmas food shop (apart from the butchers meats like turkey and gammon) on the 26th November. Never done a Christmas food shop online before! I keep re checking my shopping bag, I'm sure I'm going to forget something!

My DH is away most of December all year, including the actual Christmas days and I'm 6 months pregnant so I've tried to make everything as organised and as simple as possible!

DD is 2 on the 4th and mum and dads birthdays are in December too so it's a tough month!

Curious2468 · 25/11/2018 09:56

Kids presents are done, husbands are started, still need bits for a few more people. Yule meat is ordered but we still need something for xmas day. I feel as prepared as I ever do at this stage but will start to panic in a couple of weeks lol

ClashCityRocker · 25/11/2018 09:56

I'm about 75% there with the presents - no wrapping done yet, but have an evening set aside for that.

We're not hosting, so just a few extra bits for a buffet tea on Christmas eve/ham boxing day to sort.

I need to get some new Christmas tree lights and will do that this week.

So getting there I think!

BearSoFair · 25/11/2018 09:57

We usually have decorations but thanks to a clumsy teenage son and an unfortunate tripping accident last year we had quite a few bauble casualties that needed replacements Grin It was an excuse to change the colours up a bit I suppose!

Atalune · 25/11/2018 10:07

Kids- bought for
Dh- done
Nephews etc- nope!
Secret Santa’s - bane of my life, nope!

LuxuryWoman2018 · 25/11/2018 10:11

Not at all prepared, it’s been a very difficult year and I don’t really know where to start for Christmas. Also have several birthdays to buy for.

I expect it will all come together at some point. I’m usually done by now.

whiskeysourpuss · 25/11/2018 10:18

Almost done all gift shopping - one aunt to find nice pjs for (not Christmas/winter themed & she's short so ideally cropped bottoms) & the big soap & glory set for DD1 when it goes to half price.

No wrapping done but will do DS's this week as I have his paper & will pick up the rest next weekend - other than my kids the rest are going in gift bags.

Going to choose our Christmas Tree next Saturday & there's a Christmas market on in the town where the farm is then shopping with SIL on the Sunday for the last few bits & bobs, wrapping paper etc things I don't know I want to get them yet so will wrap DD's during the week once I've got that in.

Birthday weekend away the 7-10th so Christmas will be put on hold.

Will collect tree on the 15th then have a mad dash to decorate as going out that night to my aunts annual Christmas girls night & off to Edinburgh the following day for food, cocktails & a second attempt at the big wheel.

Christmas clean the weekend before Christmas... beds changed in the morning & final sweep through then out to movies & lunch on Christmas Eve then home for hot choc & a Christmas movie before bed.

Going to friends for Christmas dinner so no food shop other than nice nibbles, wine etc for me & the kids.

Writing all that down makes me feel much more prepared than I thought I was!

MrsChollySawcutt · 25/11/2018 10:19

Most of the Christmas shopping is done. Last few bits for DS to order from Amazon. Christmas morning outfits for DC (family tradition that they wake up to a fully laid out festive outfit) bought. Ocado slot booked for majority of the Christmas food and drink. Will order turkey and chipolatas from local butcher soon.

Christmas tree is always last minute as we don't put ours up until Christmas Eve when we all decorate it together as a family. This has sparked another family tradition where we bargain hunt for the cheapest nice tree we can find. Our record is 2p for 2 large 8ft trees, we had one indoor and one outdoor tree that year!

Don't think I've ever been this organised before!

starrynight19 · 25/11/2018 10:20

Am 3/4 done on the present front and know what else I need to get so pretty sorted with that. Wrapping them will happen in Dec.

Need to get the meat order done though and arrange to meet people to exchange gifts to.

Asj0405 · 25/11/2018 10:49

Nearly all presents bought and stockings sorted. Just
1 for DD
1 for DH
1 for DN left to get.
Wrapping will be done first week in December.

All special chocs nuts and biscuits bought
Alcohol bought
Christmas outfits for parties and Xmas day etc sorted.
Christmas eve box sorted
Cards bought but will be written sometime this week
Tree will be put up and Xmas bedding put on next weekend but all sorted ready.
Christmas outing booked

So just the 3 presents left to buy, some Christmas arts and crafts to buy, hopefully these will be sorted by end of week.
Then the food shop which I won't do until a few days before.

Then relax and enjoy the run up to the big day Smile

wendz86 · 25/11/2018 11:42

About half way through Christmas shopping.
I am going to get tree , decoration, christmas books etc out on Thursday and then decorate on Saturday with the children.
I won't be hosting so don't really need to worry about food although will get some stuff to contribute.
Cards have been ordered from school (ones kids designed).
Need to check what wrapping paper I have when I get stuff out the loft.

GreyGardens88 · 25/11/2018 11:55

I'm waiting until I get paid next week to buy most of the presents, then I'm going on a shopping spree

Tree going up next weekend, all decs bought. I want to buy a candle arch though next week as well.

FadedRed · 25/11/2018 12:02

Just to make you all feel better, i’ve done nothing yet, not even thought about presents, food shopping or cards.
I don’t have many to buy for, though, and there’s a couple of supermarkets close by. Not entertaining many, so it will all come together with minimal effort. And am retired, so time is no problem.
Bit sad really.

Alanamackree · 25/11/2018 13:00

Present shopping done.
Cards ready to go.
Now I’m concentrating on getting the house in shape as we’ll be hosting so there’ll be no corners to shove stuff.
The living room in particular needs a deep clean.
I need to get out all the table linen and iron it.
Then start cooking and filling the freezer.
That’s all that can be done in advance really.

Oneinthegrave · 25/11/2018 15:14

I’ve only got 2 presents left to buy, wrapped around half (hate it with a passion so have to break it up). I’ve done my christmas food shop online and booked it to be delivered on the evening of the 23rd so i can get anything missed off it! Putting the tree up the weekend after next, and will be finished by then. Last year i was still shopping on the 23rd!!

Charlottejade89 · 25/11/2018 15:45

about 75% way through getting presents. Going to a tree farm early Saturday morning to pick one and do the decorating that day. Cards written and ready to be posted next week. Got enough wrapping paper and cellotape. written a list of all presents left to buy and a food shop list. We have 4 dc between us and I am on maternity leave this year so money is tighter, but starting day has been a god send for both my purse and my stress levels lol

CantSleepClownsWillEatMe · 25/11/2018 16:18

Gift buying is 80% done and what's left won't be difficult. That's the main 'effort' out of the way tbh. The Christmas grocery and alcohol shop isn't a big deal as I have multiple supermarkets near both home and work so we'll pick things up through December easily enough.

I'm not a baker so I don't do the baking and freezing thing. It's just me, DH and our two dc for Christmas dinner, we don't eat meat so no ordering turkey, goose or whatever. We'll have friends over at some point but we tend to keep that casual so party food from Marks, tesco etc or something easy like fajitas.

Our tree goes up mid December so we'll get the wrapping out of the way beforehand and then we're pretty much done Smile.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 25/11/2018 16:22

All presents bought in September, wrapped last week.Put tree up yesterday. Nothing else left to organise really

HermioneWeasley · 25/11/2018 16:22

Present shopping mostly done, house will be decorated next weekend

CaseStudyResearch · 25/11/2018 16:27

Tree going up in two weeks. Just waiting on a few more decorations to arrive from recent orders.

Presents wrapped and posted for family abroad. Have got a number of birthdays between now and a Christmas, so all are wrapped and ready to give.

About 90% there with presents, just a couple more to go. DH has bought absolutely none Grin however I do need to wrap them all.

Don’t really do cards, just have a couple in case people send us one.

No need to get food as we are at family on the day. I have £45 in M&S vouchers awarded from work so that will go towards treats and food from 27th to the 1st. Need to do a mini online delivery for snacks for DH’s stocking and also drinks.

I’ll probably do a big clean on 21/22nd and then drive home on 23rd.

Looking for a couple of Christmas markets/events/shows/cinema trips to get us in the festive spirit, so probably have a look this week.

veiledsentiments · 25/11/2018 16:51

Done nothing. And first day off will be Christmas Eve. However, one child is 20, and the other 17, so they won't be getting too much. Tree is ordered. Know what OH wants, and all other family live away from me in the UK, so will be ordered online. Only M&D and two sisters to buy for. Send cards to Inlaws, my family, uncles and aunts on both sides and that's it. Not too bothered about it all yet.
