How is everyone's Christmas prep looking one month out?

I've almost finished present shopping, just a couple of bits for DH and one nephew that we're still trying to find something for. No wrapping yet though, that's a December job!

New decorations for the tree have been bought. Tree will go up in 2 weeks time.

Cards bought, I'm off work this week so will get them written then they go in the post at the start of December.

Need to arrange seeing mine and DH's siblings at some point in the next few weeks as we still do gifts for the kids and prefer to exchange them in person following the great missing parcel drama of 2015!

No set plans for food but expect that we'll have roast chicken instead of turkey as we usually do.

Haven't even started to think about New Year yet! Usually end up staying home or spending a fairly quiet night with a few good friends.

I'm not,I wish I was,I want to be and I do feel like I've done nothing but make lists for Christmas and shop for Christmas for the last 2 weeks and I have bought a lot of stuff(presents)but I still have so much to buy.

I still haven't bought any cards yet so that's one thing I need to do next,I will still be buying Christmas presents for the next 2 weeks I think and I also have new bits I'm buying for the house and bits of decorating that still needs doing before Christmas.

So for me the next week will be spent buying cards, writeing cards, wrapping what presents I can wrap, planning the Christmas food and getting some of the decorating around the house done out of the way.

NoWordForFluffy · 25/11/2018 17:14

All presents now bought and the last ones collected from various shops after doing free click and collect on them.

Have only wrapped the ones I've taken / sent to my family 170 miles' away who we won't now see until afterwards.

We need to do a present audit to balance the kids' presents (we will save some for birthdays if they're unequal). Then we can get wrapping.

DH is sorted (birthday - 23 Dec - and Christmas) and I'll wrap those when I can get rid of him for a while! Xmas Grin

Food all here or ordered. The last of my baking ingredients are in this week's delivery on Thursday. I've done some baking / cooking already and these are in the freezer.

All decorations are sorted. I bought a few more bits here and there, but they're all here ready to go next weekend.

Big clean is 21 Dec as I don't work on Fridays and we're painting the hall / stairs / landing woodwork on 14 Dec as we are away that night so the kids will be in the house only a very short amount of time while it's drying! Xmas Grin

So, all in all we are nigh on ready. 🎄🎄🎄

PickAChew · 25/11/2018 17:17

I bought a pudding, last week.

That's about it, apart from ordering some stuff from markses.

BarbedBloom · 25/11/2018 17:21

I just need one small present for my mum and MIL now. Cards need to be written and posted. I have ordered meat from M&S and will do a full food shop just before Xmas. Tired of having it delivered as half the stuff doesn’t come. Wrapped almost everything. Will put tree up next weekend. We have a lot on in December so had to be prepared

DramaAlpaca · 25/11/2018 17:23

I ordered a couple of things online today & I've bought a few bits. I went shopping yesterday & wasn't at all inspired so didn't get much done. Tbh I never do much before December. It's easier now the DC are grown up, and this year we've made a rule of no plastic tat. I'll sort food the week before Christmas & the tree won't go up until around the 21st, so no panic yet.

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 25/11/2018 17:23

Kids presents: researched and planned. Some bought.
Sort of know what I'm getting my Mum, Dad and sister.
DH has made absurd quantities of home brew.
We bought a massive Serrano Ham

Waiting on my November pay before I can sort the rest.

Whyohwhy65 · 25/11/2018 18:43

Bought and wrapped all presents. Done the christmas food list. Decorations go up on Tuesday. Booked to see santa. Just need to buy cards and write them

MinecraftHolmes · 25/11/2018 19:04

Mostly finished shopping - need one more thing for DD, something for my friend's boys, and DH's playstation game.
Christmas cakes have had their first feed.
Need to buy wrapping paper, wrapping will be done when DH is on his Christmas night out on the 15th (so all shopping will be completed by then).
Tree will probably go up in two weeks or so.
Will get cards at some point but we don't do many of those.
Need to get the kids something to wear for their Christmas parties/festive things we're going to.

notpushyinterested · 25/11/2018 19:04

i have bought one gift for my nephew
i have put some pigs in blankets in the freezer

that's it

i don't have a single free weekend between now and christmas.
i work full time.
my dh works away during the week.
i am the full on mum taxi for my teenagers and three nights a week do part time job drop off and pick up.

i am fucked basically.

OutPinked · 25/11/2018 19:07

Gift buying is 95% done, I just have the big main presents to buy the eldest three which I’m waiting until December to tackle. I always leave wrapping until the last minute because I hate it Grin. I’ve bought Christmas Day dessert (Aldi’s chocolate carousel- it’s amazing!) and I’ve bought the kids Christmas cards for school as well as advent calendars. We’re getting the tree on Saturday and decorating then- excited!

Had more time on my hands to be mega organised this year because I’m on mat leave, not usually this organised.

Ffsnosexallowed · 25/11/2018 19:09

Most presents bought, but we're getting a new kitchen fitted between now and Christmas, so I've been worrying about that instead....

dementedma · 25/11/2018 19:10

all presents bought and wrapped bar one DIY gadget thingy for DH
Stockings pretty much done
Cards written
Cake made
Red cabbage made and frozen
Turkey crown ordered.

Tree will go up next weekend.
I'm pretty on it for once.

Kemer2018 · 25/11/2018 19:19

We've booked a slot for the food delivery.
We're using a different shop as aldi n lidl don't deliver food atm.
Shocked that the best we could get was friday 21st though!

Not exchanging presents with dad, brother and step sister so less to worry about.

Want to get helicopter flight, or something adrenaline gift for partner.

Make up brushes, driving lesson, clock for 12 y.o DD.

Concert tickets or afternoon tea gift for mum and dad.

Soft play voucher for step sisters 3 kids.

We've got a new tree, due up on Saturday.

MrsPear · 25/11/2018 19:49

I have a mental list. I have made the cake, cards and tags. Doing snowflakes whilst watching tv tonight.
Next week -
Go through shed and sort out Christmas decorations and find ds2 a Christmas jumper - hand me down from ds1 so i need to go though the bags.
complete shopping. I need to get dads present, collect h’s, look for goal keeper gloves and buy a Christmas jumper for ds1. That will be a day out as I have to go to town.
End the week starting decorations.
Following week
More decorations up and start wrapping.

I have an end date of the 19th December Wink

And so on. I’m where i usually am at this point so no worries.

Lonely200144 · 26/11/2018 02:04

Presents done minus 1
Xmas eve pyjamas, book etc done
Go to family and don’t host
1st is December will do Xmas might switch on that DD is dancing at .. followed by Xmas tree shopping. Then out tree up and wrap all presents after she goes to bed.
So I’m about 80 percent there

shiveringtimber · 26/11/2018 02:12

Mental list stage. No money for gift-buying this month and since we always get a real tree, it won't go up before mid-December at the earliest.

Mokepon · 26/11/2018 02:27

Oh I'm coming over all festive 🎄🎆🎄!
Most gifts are bought and wrapped but tbf I don't buy a lot.
Turkey is in the freezer. Will shop for fresh stuff on a day off nearer the time.
Decs and tree will go up weekend of 15th. Need to extract them from the garage.
Cards for posting are written.

But....
We are going away for the first time ever so I have a pop up Christmas tree which I am disproportionately excited about. It is a surprise for the children, we are packing the car while the sleep the night before then off we go!

It's been a funny year with crappy family stuff/work stress so I can't wait!

Fantail · 26/11/2018 03:05

DD’s presents sorted. Have also bought for nephews and my parents. Know what I’m getting DSis and DBIL. Still have to buy for DBF but his birthday in 10 days is he first priority.

Tree and decorations this weekend.

Meal planning the weekend after. Will only be me and my parents for dinner so am planning on cooking something lovely for them.

Christmas outings planned. Have to buy tickets to one.

Baking will start this weekend (cookie dough made and frozen).

I’m actually feeling pretty sorted really.

Blacktoffeecat · 26/11/2018 06:31

Doing well Grin
Most presents bought and wrapped, the few cards I’m sending written.
Going to finish wrapping today. Cake made and being fed alcohol.
Just food to sort and tree to go up but we have an artificial one so it’s all in the loft.
I like to have it all done by 1st December except food and decorations so we can enjoy December, not rush around shopping.

Ohshitwhatnext · 26/11/2018 06:34

it's not. the house is a chaotic mess and I don't have any enthusiasm for xmas.Normally I love xmas so need to kick my ass into gear and get on with it.

BiddyPop · 26/11/2018 09:49

3 online grocery shops booked in December (Christmas week is either not yet released or already completely full - I’ll check this week).

Cards all bought - none yet written though which is late for me.

Gifts, we’ll, dd and dh are sorted, and some others dc’s but I need to do 1 big toy store trip, and I have a few lore adult ones to get yet. And some crafting to finish urgently!!!!

Going well on making freeze space and emptying out food cupboards is making some limited progress.

Christmas dinner wine is bought - but I need a bit more beer and wine for entertaining people over the season.

The house is a mix of chaos patches and some areas organized/decluttered. But I am more in control than many years despite the frenetic life we have this year.

No decorating done yet, nor will there be for a while. But I have my plans made and a few new things bought and I think DH has agreed to the plans- I just need to figure out a new wreath (the old one was fresh from a florist 8 years ago and is still ok, amazingly, but could do with replacing and dh pojnted put a nice one in a shop display that, if half the size, would be perfect also as I am winning on 2 trees, I’d like to listen to him on that).

Christmas carol concerts booked for me and some extended family members. No need for santa visits, but a nice family outing is being planned. And a Christmas Eve swim too (dh will hold towels while dd and I swim).

All in all, not there yet but I’m happy with progress.

SilkenTofu · 26/11/2018 11:58

I don't feel organised but in truth I have done quite a lot of preparation already (baking, cards written, presents bought and decorations ready to go). I just need to consolidate what I have got and then wrap and pick up any last minute things. I don't want to be running round in Dec like a headless chicken. I want to enjoy it for a change.

SeaViewBliss · 26/11/2018 12:08

I have done nothing! I never do until 1st december as DD has an end of November Birthday so I like to get that sorted first.

I can ‘do’ Christmas prep in a week I reckon. Only have my DPs, MIL, best Friend and 2 god children to buy for outside of our household.

DH and I are not buying for each other this year as we are going on a big holiday at Easter.

DS is having one biggish present so only a stocking to do for him. Waiting for DDs list.

We only feed 7 on the day so no drama. DH and I will food shop a few days before late in the evening. DPs order the turkey and collect it.

Boxing Day at DPs tonrelax and recover then DH and I are back to work.

We are planning a day in London at some point. Trying to make this year about doing rather than buying now that the DCs are older.

MysweetAudrina · 26/11/2018 12:14

For the past 5 years I have had exams around 6 Dec so normally start after that date which means a stressful lead up to the day.

This year, no exams so I have a lot of my present buying done and hope to have the remainder done in the next week.

I have ordered some food for collection on M&S xmas eve and I have been adding a few bits like sauces, crisps, drinks, sweets and biscuits to my weekly shopping and will continue to do so up until xams week.

Still have dh to buy for and a few awkward presents. I have 3 boxes to send abroad to ds, db and dsd so will have those ready by the end of the week to post.

Mumof3needswine · 26/11/2018 12:34

Christmas presents are all brought bar one for my husband and I realised this morning I'll need another set of controllers for my son's games console . I managed to get a food delivery slot for the 18th not the best but it will have to do . Presents are all wrapped I wrap as I buy . Decorations and tree are already up . I don't do Christmas cards. I've still got to sort the kids christmas eve boxes and put all the Christmas activities in the Christmas event advent calendar. I'm actually starting to get excited now !!🎄🎅
