What are you buying for boyfriend/husband?

Helppppp what are you buying for your boyfriends/husbands. My boyfriend has asked for absolutely nothing and told me to just buy the kids more instead. Obv I'm not listening to that but he has everything already so I'm stuck on ideas. I did loads of handmade cutesy things last year so used those ideas up. We have photos everywhere so photo ideas are out. He's really into his cars but I know nothing about cars so just got him a few winter car accessories as stocking fillers. He doesn't drink but does smoke those vape things so that's maybe an idea?! But again I know nothing about them haha. So I'm stuck with boring ideas like clothes but he's boring with clothes and only likes wearing black tracksuits etc. Help me make it more special for an impossible to buy for man haha

ohfourfoxache · 09/11/2018 10:40

What’s your budget? How about a driving experience?

SGIB14 · 09/11/2018 11:13

Men are just impossible creatures all year round ain't they hahaha. I haven't got a budget in mind but I spoke to him about one of those driving experiences a few months back to test the water and he was just not interested. Although I may look and see if there are any car shows on anywhereHmm that maybe an idea. He works so hard for us all so I just wanted to give something back instead of the old boxers, socks and lynxs gift set ideas haha x

We don't need anything, but last year DH said it was a bit crap not having any gifts at xmas, so I am suggesting a £20 limit. I will be getting him cool towel for the gym and replacing his lost mini screwdriver set. Maybe a little sweet treat too.

WildFlower2018 · 09/11/2018 12:22

Nothing! We haven't bought each other anything for the 9 years we've been together. Easier that way! 😊

missyB1 · 09/11/2018 12:22

We don’t buy each other lots of presents, usually just 2 or 3. I’m getting dh
A Bluetooth speaker
New work shirts (boring but he wants them)
His favourite beers.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 09/11/2018 12:23

I'm struggling to think of anything. We have been together for nearly 20 years and if we need something, we are fortunate enough to be able to just go out and buy it, so there isn't much scope there. Also DH is terminally ill, so a lot of things he would like to do he can't because of his illness. So I am thinking a weekend away, or theatre tickets, would be the best option.

JanetLovesJason · 09/11/2018 12:32

Big fluffy bear face slippers
2 cosy flannel shirts (there was a discount for spending over a certain amount, two worked out like £6 more than one)
Bottle of rum
iPhone case
Contribution to his new iPhone, he’s had old one since before we were married (which was 6 years ago)
Hand cream and nice soap
Good Place t-shirt
Dairy free chocolate truffles
Vegan cheese

Will also bake him various stuff in run-up to Xmas, as he is gluten, dairy and egg free so is can’t get a lot of stuff. Already planning salted caramel mince pies and a modern take on Xmas cake that has cashew nut buttercream on the outside not marzipan/icing. Maybe some marzipan danish too. Or a stollen.

MinecraftHolmes · 09/11/2018 12:40

A mini hamper of his favourite foods/drinks (glass bottles of Coke, his favourite chocolates, cheese that he likes etc)
Red Dead Redemption 2 for his PS4
Posh face cream/hand cream (he works outdoors so his hands get particularly wrecked)

That's pretty much it unless I see any knick knacks that I think he'll like. We try not to go overboard with useless shit.

Asj0405 · 09/11/2018 13:45

What about cleaning things for his car a decent wax that will make it shine or a voucher to have it valleted if he doesn't usually wash it himself.
Seat covers and mats for his car??
Book on cars?
I'm doing mine a chocolate hamper with all his favourite chocs in but you could do sweet hampers/favourite foods etc.

JanetLovesJason · 09/11/2018 13:47

What he really wants in. Golden Retreiver puppy though.

Asj0405 · 09/11/2018 13:49

Has he got a sound bar for tv?

muchprefersummer · 09/11/2018 17:10

I know it's a boring present, but I got OH some bike cleaning stuff from Lidl today. He wants for nothing really so he's happy with practical presents.

duckling84 · 09/11/2018 17:14

Nespresso machine.
He usually asks for cash but I hate giving cash at Christmas, I want to get him something just for him (I don't drink coffee so it will be of no use to me)

Bluearsedfly36 · 09/11/2018 17:22

Asked my dp what he wanted and he said new boiler suits for work 🙄🙄🙄 that's what he's getting.

SGIB14 · 09/11/2018 17:32

I love the idea of a little hamper of his fav things so I'll probably steal that idea and I think car cleaning is a good idea too I've had a look for tickets for different places today too so I'm thinking a kid free day trip might be on the cards.

Feeling a bit inspired by xmassy baking too. Hmmm some brill ideas

mimibunz · 09/11/2018 17:36

My DH is useless for giving me ideas until about the 20th of December, at which point I’m like, “No, sorry, I’Ve already bought you a bunch of stuff you won’t like!” 😁 So far it’s:
Jeans
Shirt
Hot sauce
A spy novel

okeydokeygirl · 09/11/2018 17:49

He has said he does not want anything so why waste money especially if you don't actually know what to buy him. And he might be thinking of not buying you one either. I dont get buying stuff for the sake of it. If you are going to insist on getting something then food and drink or some kind of experience rather than more stuff that he does not want or need. There are masses of things on offer these days to suit all budgets and tastes. In answer to your question. I will not be buying DH anything. Been together 16 years and have never bought each other a Christmas present. We do however splash out on experiences for each others birthdays. Often ones we can do with each other. We can justify more expensive birthday gifts as we don't do Christmas gifts and it is not a big wodge of money all at the same time as our birthdays are 6 months apart.

JanetLovesJason · 09/11/2018 17:49

Ooh, hot sauce. That’s a good idea mimi

JudyDenchsBloomers · 09/11/2018 17:51

I have bought my DH a half whiskey barrel from Etsy to display his best whiskeys. He really does have everything, so I'm pleased to have found this. Although I think they've sold out now..

redexpat · 09/11/2018 17:59

Got Michael Mcintyre tickets today!

bookmum08 · 09/11/2018 18:00

What does he do in his spare time? Mine makes Airfix models so that is what he will get. Plus a book I know he wants to read and probably some cider. If yours doesn't do much (hobby wise) and "doesn't want anything" then get him a choc Santa.

Strawberrylaceaddict · 09/11/2018 18:02

If he is into cars then I definitely think a good quality car cleaning kit would be a good one. My dp is always great full as individual items can cost a fair amount for some good stuff. I wouldn’t suggest places like Halford, buy online. I’ve bought things like lower spoilers, second hand alloys, booked his car in for window tints and also covered a professional valet (he is also a big car enthusiast) there are lots of shows but most are from around April onwards but you can probably get tickets for some of the bigger ones now. Theres also a big car museum in Beaulieu, new forest, which my partner loved. We made a weekend of it as it is quite far from us. Failing that can’t go wrong with a driving experience, something like drifting rather than a Ferrari experience is something else to think about.
