What are you buying for boyfriend/husband?

Helppppp what are you buying for your boyfriends/husbands. My boyfriend has asked for absolutely nothing and told me to just buy the kids more instead. Obv I'm not listening to that but he has everything already so I'm stuck on ideas. I did loads of handmade cutesy things last year so used those ideas up. We have photos everywhere so photo ideas are out. He's really into his cars but I know nothing about cars so just got him a few winter car accessories as stocking fillers. He doesn't drink but does smoke those vape things so that's maybe an idea?! But again I know nothing about them haha. So I'm stuck with boring ideas like clothes but he's boring with clothes and only likes wearing black tracksuits etc. Help me make it more special for an impossible to buy for man haha

Sorry to answer your question, my dp is also into gaming so I’m getting him a new monitor for his pc and a new router, they were much more than I was expecting so only a few other bits like a new hoody, aftershave and some chocolates

AnarchyKitty · 09/11/2018 18:07

I've got mine tickets to see Paul Weller . Plus tickets to two more of his favourite bands.
A pair of trainers he's been lusting after and a stripey pure wool scarf as he lost his last one.
Plus a couple of books by one of his favourite musicians and a signed CD to go with the books.

mycatplotsdeath · 09/11/2018 18:17

Wireless headphones
Gin
Wagamama gift vouchers

Parsley65 · 09/11/2018 18:31

How about an 'Experience' instead of a gift?
There are some great ones about - depends where you live, but if too far for a day you could do a w/e. Either just you two or whole family.
I'm looking at Escape Rooms, Rage rooms, Virtual Reality experiences.
Also theatre/concert trip or something like a segway session or spa day...
Mostly men in my family and we have resorted to exchanging lists, which is practical but very tedious...

anitagreen · 09/11/2018 19:16

All mine has hinted at is a new Gucci belt, a pair of trainers and some sweets. But he doesn't usually mention anything until the week before which is irritating. I've asked for a tea pot, slippers and new pjs. I'm 25

@andnone. My thoughts are with you.

Unicornandbows · 09/11/2018 21:33

So far I have decided instead of buying him tat from the numerous websites

I've gone for
A vr gaming experience for both of us and
Champneyes overnight stay Spa break basically

So a bit of an adventure and a relaxing day/night.

I don't know whether this is going to be taken happily or with grudge

Howmanysleepstilchristmas · 09/11/2018 21:48

What vape kit does he have? Dh has vape shops, so can advise on what he’d like as a step up, also on juice flavours etc.

MumGoneCrazy · 09/11/2018 21:55

DH always says he doesn't want or need anything as well it's annoying. This year instead of Christmas presents I'm doing advent presents, so wrapping 25 small things and he gets to open one a day until Xmas, they'll be things he likes snacking on or needs for example terrys choc orange, body wash, snickers bar, pork scratchings, aftershave. All cheap and cheerful hopefully.

MumGoneCrazy · 09/11/2018 22:00

I used to buy different vape flavours off eBay, they have hundreds of different ones from Cherry Bakewell to sex on the beach

GreyGardens88 · 12/11/2018 22:06

Me and my DP will only have been together 6 months come xmas, and we are not spending it together, so won't be getting him anything too extravagent. I was thinking of getting him some Illy coffee, bed socks (he always wears socks in bed) and I want to get him something else, probably around the £20ish mark but no idea what to get! He likes sports, in particular basketball. I know his favourite team so maybe a tshirt or something

Serin · 12/11/2018 22:57

A tin of chocolate sardines
New trainers
Cordless screwdriver

Loving the Paul Weller tickets idea Smile

tinyvulture · 13/11/2018 01:33

Have got him various books/CDs/DVDs I think he'll like - mostly second hand off eBay, so hardly spent anything! To be fair, we've been together for less than a year (though close friends for 20 years - long story) so no doubt by next year I will have run out of ideas! The books include cookery books, and a Lonely Planet guide to somewhere I want to make him go on holiday with me........

buckeejit · 23/11/2018 00:27

Whiskey, cookbook, Japanese antique carved dragons & small nosed secateurs

TealTurnip · 23/11/2018 00:38

I’ve told my DH I’d prefer DC to have more stuff. Nothing he could buy me would give me as much joy as seeing DC happy. Maybe he means it when he says just buy DC more stuff?

Starlighting888 · 23/11/2018 00:39

A card but we’ve decided to bigger off somewhere hot for Christmas so that’s our present to each other.

muchprefersummer · 23/11/2018 07:29

After getting mad at him reading at 4 in the morning with a head torch on (I can't sleep with lights on) I e decided to get mine a kindle paper white. Happy = happy husband!! He gets to read whenever he likes - I get my sleep!!!

muchprefersummer · 23/11/2018 07:30

*happy wife = happy husband!!!

OrcinusOrca · 23/11/2018 07:32

Mine loves cars too. I've got him a trolley jack and axel stands (at his request!). Also a book in general fixing car things.

90percentvodka10percenthuman · 23/11/2018 07:48

So far I have got dh a multi tool bbq thing (think Swiss Army knife but with bbq utensils) and a Hama beads set (bit of a joke but I know he will love it).

So basically I’m just placemarking for ideas as he has a birthday 2 weeks before Christmas too

Jessica78 · 23/11/2018 07:50

Some Nike iD trainers, a dvd boxset he asked for, some Vinyl, clothes, a screwdriver set and battery tester, star wars guess who... And a stocking with bits and pieces...

carrie74 · 23/11/2018 08:38

Haven't yet had any ideas from DH himself, but I might get him something from Rapha for cycling (live near an outlet store, NOT full price!), new pants, work shirts (yawn), and I know he wants a new Apple Watch (he got the first version when they just came out, but the battery is woeful, and now doesn't support the newest updates). But we're off the the US at Easter, so may wait to get the watch there (£399/$399 🙄).

In previous years, I've bought him small bike repair kits that he can take with him, one of those squishy folders that you can put all your cables, chargers etc into for travel, a charging station which lives downstairs for all devices, Superdry jumpers.

I've heard previously that men like better versions of things they already own, certainly seems to work with DH.

BrightonTony · 23/11/2018 09:22

I don't normally post, cos I'm a bloke, I'm only on here to try and understand joint custody from a mum's perspective. But I think I can help with this one.

Probs with men is we want "good" quality things and "the right one" which is obvs a nightmare cos so subjective.

The comment about better versions of stuff we already have is on the money. I've listed some stuff below that I don't think anyone could argue with - all pretty incontrovertibly "good". [prices in brackets]

it being Black Friday I'd defo agree with wireless headphones (brands ATG, Bose, Sony, genuine apple airpods - suggest you go "over ear" if you don't know what he wants)
[probs don't spend less than £50 and £100ish will get great quality]

Google home
[the mini is only 30 quid and the new one with the screen down to 100.]

If they have home / Alexa then compatible things (Phillips hue bulbs?)
[Probs starts at £30]

If they drink whisky don't be intimidated by not knowing much about it. The price reflects the quality so you can't go far wrong - you'll get what you pay for, just make sure it's single malt (unless you know they drink bourbon). If they only like whisky a bit, or don't know it very well, then a balvenie doublewood is about £35-40 and everyone likes it (quite sweet and very drinkable). There's a lovely laphroaig select on amazon down to £21.25 on Black Friday.

Clothes wise I'd say something really good quality will always go down well.
Something like the Farah Rosecroft lambswool jumpers [again on BF sale from £30-50].
Every man should have some great tapered leg jeans. Dry denim, 12.5 or 14 oz (really stiff when you hold them / first wear them). Nudies for slimmer gents, Edwins for a fuller figure (like me).
[expect to pay around £100 and he might have to take them back to tweak the size / leg length so maybe don't buy online?]

A man should have good luggage (I don't so it's on my list). MandM have some very affordable Ben Sherman, farah and Lylle and Scott holdalls at around £25-30. we do a secret Santa for £100 and I'm going to ask for a Barbour holdall that's £105.

Beard products if he has one. Especially if he doesn't use anything. Nice brush, balm and / or oil. [brush about £20, balm and oil about £10 each]

ifoundthebread · 23/11/2018 09:27

I always get myself new sexy lingerie, take control and give him an hours pampering 😉 and then maybe a couple small things, retro sweets, body massager.
