Santa is at a loss for poor 7 year old DD

Being the last of 3 girls I’m so struggling for ideas for my 7 DD.

We have bought her the OG horse trailer and Garmin Disney tracker (which will be her gift for the table as big sisters are getting Fitbits) and she has a few Lol...

But I like to have a few unusual, personal and thoughtful presents from Santa that will become special and held onto rather than the usual plastic tat that goes into the bin played with for a week and forgotten about...

Any suggestions for something a bit different, particularly from smaller companies or brands

And also what are you all just getting your 7 year old DD’s in general?

Could you not get her a charm bracelet that she can get for Xmas and birthdays so it can grow with her and it's personal for her and she can wear it for special events..

thismeansnothing · 06/11/2018 19:39

DD is 6.9 this Xmas.

She's got theatre tickets to see Annie (main present)
Will get the new Now Album
Some new fairy lights for her room
Going to get another Smart Games game just not sure which one (she got the penguin pool party one last Xmas and has really enjoyed it)
Want to get her a really good illustrated kids encyclopedia but just not sure which one

DH is itching to get her Gravitrax but that's more for him I'm sure 🤣

AnneOfCleavage · 06/11/2018 19:48

Aldi have some mini Fur Real pets for under £10 that look lovely.

How about some mini fairy lights.

Does she like reading? A dictionary bookmark is pretty cool. Or the next book in the series that she is reading (if she is into reading).

Is she into those breakable erasers that girls her age love. DD used to love the animal ones so she could interchange their heads.

Mightybanhammer · 06/11/2018 20:17

Books.

Stompythedinosaur · 06/11/2018 21:09

My 7yo dd1 is getting:
Spy kit
Mini drone
Camera
Tell tails lemur tail
Red panda picture for her room
Polly pocket set
Books - dotty detective and a few others.
DC superhero girls lego
A scruff a luv
A rock tumbler and raw rocks
A magic 8 ball.

For her birthday she got snap circuits and Lego elves, both were well received.

reluctantbrit · 06/11/2018 21:14

Nice notebook and stationary if she likes to write

MP3 player and speaker for her room

Zookeeper experience if she likes animals

Chemistry set

Mayhemmumma · 06/11/2018 21:21

Oohh I'm copying magic 8 ball for my 7yo!!

Mine would like:
Any LOL goodies
Lego
Playmobil - although I'm reluctant
Arts and crafts supplies and stationary
Books
Bean bag or floor cushion
Lava lamp
Snow globe
Bath bomb
Sweets
DVD

Mayhemmumma · 06/11/2018 21:22

She also got givdn two Polly pocket sets for her birthday which she was thrilled with.

Vicious2018 · 06/11/2018 21:27

What are her interests? Our ds is into space and we got him proper telescope couple of years ago. It is adults beginner one and should be good enough for him for several years.

Pebblesandfriends · 06/11/2018 21:27

Secret diary, make your own lip gloss kit, dinosaur egg.... mulberry bush have some lovely stuff for stocking fillers if you're looking for inspiration.

Asj0405 · 06/11/2018 21:40

some different bits on here

and here

and here

Haworthia · 06/11/2018 21:42

Tell me about the rock tumbler Stompythedinosaur. My DD would love something like that!

Boohissmiss · 06/11/2018 21:47

Stompy is it true the rock tumbler takes weeks to make them pretty. Someone told me that and I put me off. I can imagine my DD thinking it will work instantly on Xmas day but the rocks wouldn’t be ready till the end of January .

Mightybanhammer · 07/11/2018 00:30

Utterly astonished at some of these lists.

Isadora2007 · 07/11/2018 00:32

@mightybanhammer why? Nothing out of the ordinary here...

Mightybanhammer · 07/11/2018 00:32

Also that a supposedly intelligent child still believes in Father Christmas ( head in hands)

Zoflorabore · 07/11/2018 00:38

My very intelligent dd is 7, 8 in February and still believes in Santa, as do all of her friends. What's wrong with that?

My 15 year old doesn't. Clearly. That would be odd.
What made you come on just to say that?
GF Hmm

Boohissmiss · 07/11/2018 01:54

Mightybanhammer what age does one stop believing in Santa?

Isadora2007 · 07/11/2018 01:56

Ahhh I see. MBH is clearly perplexed by the spirit of generosity and Christmas giving...and the idea of a child with an innocent and imaginative mind. Poor MBH... Should you maybe name change to MightyBahHumbug?

ThriftyMcThrifty · 07/11/2018 02:10

I believed in Santa until I was ten, obviously I don’t now at 38. Why would children today stop believing sooner?

Jemimafuckinpuddleduck · 07/11/2018 05:46

@Mightybanhammer

Why doesn’t your house sound just magical...HmmConfused

Thanks everyone else, some great ideas, we are actually looking into the rock tumbler as she is obsessed by stone and rocks and is always washing them and collecting them!

She collects woodland schleich animals from a lady who sells them after giving them little accessories (flower crowns, party hats and sparkly crowns) sounds really weird but they are so cute and make great stocking fillers, so have bought her a couple of them.

Also Casper the black jellycat who looks unnervingly like our cat who DD loves so that will sit in the the top of her stocking.

@Mayhemmumma we looked at the Polly pockets and I do think she would happily receive on Christmas morning but I’m not sure it wouldn’t all end up in our big cupboard in a few months where all the other redundant plastic ends up other than her LOL’s and OG stuff

@Vicious2018 she loves animals, nature, (she has a shared pony with her sister and spends a lot of time at the yard running about and getting mucky) she liked trinkets and treasures, stationary and of course the dreaded LOL’s Grin

Does anyone have any suggestion of any suggestion of nice books that might be treasured and kept and reread through the years...

We still do “stories” at bed time and are inbetween younger books and chapter books...

This is the rock tumbler I've got. It comes with the grit and a few raw gems, but I've got this pack to supplement it.

It does take a month or so to work, but I think my dd will enjoy seeing the rocks as they progress.

Stompythedinosaur · 07/11/2018 11:19

Jemima where to the animals in hats etc come from? My dd would love that!

Re books, my dd likes this map book, and also any of the Pierre the Maze Detective books.

Mightybanhammer · 07/11/2018 11:25

Re the Father Christmas thing - I realised it was rubbish when saw his beard was held on with elastic. GrinThis was at nursery so about four? Then of course the many different versions everywhere. The chimney issue. I had to keep on pretending I believed in it for the sake of my parents.

Genuinely surprised a child of seven would not pick up on it, but hey ho. I am child free and clearly out of touch!
