Hiding Christmas presents

Where does everyone hide their Christmas presents? I am currently using the large suitcase under my bed but imagine I'll run out of space soon.
Does anyone have any ingenious ideas to share?
I don't think my children (12, 8 and 3) would go hunting for presents, but they're pretty inquisitive so my hiding places need to be pretty good!!

Lazily in Amazon boxes in the office, my 5 yo doesn't go in there. Nearer the time I'll wrap and put in the cellar maybe?

Chesterfieldsofa · 04/11/2018 08:05

I always think about hiding presents in the kids own wardrobes as they can never find anything that they look for in there.

EK36 · 04/11/2018 08:11

In the loft!

DelurkingAJ · 04/11/2018 08:59

In a huge box on top of our wardrobe. Behind my long dresses on the floor of another wardrobe. DC have never looked yet...

EdHelpPls · 04/11/2018 09:03

Last year I hid a computer in my teen daughters room. She didn’t notice.
Mostly now they are in my eaves but easily discovered if anyone was to look. I should really do something about that!

MumOfTwoMasterOfNone · 05/11/2018 22:21

We bought an ottoman bed two months ago and now it's full of Xmas presents
I'm not sure where they'd be if we didn't have it, but by next year it will be full of other junk so I'll have to find a new hiding place

TimeForMy10thCuppa · 05/11/2018 23:00

My house is such a mess I just shove them in boxes or bags near the clean laundry that wants putting away and throw a towel/ blanket over the top and kids assume it's just clean laundry.

MamaHechtick · 05/11/2018 23:10

Spare bedroom, behind the big blanket box covered with lots of blankets.
Last year I hid my sons birthday and Christmas presents under his bed, he had no idea. Dd is the one who goes hunting!

sophisticatedsarcasm · 05/11/2018 23:20

Mine are in Bfl in the bottom of the wardrobe and in cardboard boxes under my sisters bed 😂😂

Davloumar · 06/11/2018 01:27

I have storage space in my wardrobes so I usually clean that out and hide presents there and my kids are too short to open the top compartment. I have suitcases with locks on them so they are used to hide gifts. Also i leave gifts in the big brown box they're delivered from Amazon and reseal the box and leave on top of wardrobes. Big things I can't hide at my house are hidden in my mother's spare room

Idontmeanto · 06/11/2018 06:12

In my wardrobe behind bin bags of out-of-season clothes/clothes i’ve been given for ds to grow into.

Noboozeforme · 06/11/2018 06:47

Boot of my car.

Lovemusic33 · 06/11/2018 09:17

Either at my mums house or in my Campervan. I can’t keep them in the house as dd2 finds them.

SoupDragon · 06/11/2018 09:19

I used to put them in the loft.

pumpkinpie01 · 06/11/2018 09:33

I have some in my DS wardrobe with a duvet over them, he is only 5 so never looks in there anyway and some under our bed in a box.

TchoupiEtDoudou · 06/11/2018 09:39

Me and DB never looked. We knew where they were (top of mum's wardrobe) but never looked. I just got so excited seeing the pile of plastic bags growing throughout December! Once we got the tree, the presents would be gradually wrapped and moved there. We never looked at that either!!!

We tested presents under the tree last year (before Christmas Eve) and it worked pretty well. Not sure it would this year as the 4 year old is very inquisitive.

For the moment, all the presents are in a cupboard in our ensuite, under our bed (in bin bags) or hidden in cloth bags in my wardrobe. Am seriously running out of space though.

A couple of years ago we had to give DS1 his bike at the beginning of December cos we just didn't have anywhere to hide it.

Pascha · 06/11/2018 09:43

Ours go in the loft. Neither child is tall enough or dextrous enough to get the loft ladder down yet.

I remember finding presents as a teenager. I used to stealth unwrap because I loathe surprises. Then I had time to get used to the presents and could make a happy face on christmas morning.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 06/11/2018 09:43

Mine are in the attic - I've just pushed them up there in a ring around the hatch, because I really don't like my attic.

Soubriquet · 06/11/2018 09:45

I have drawers under my bed where I’ve stashed some

Some are in the airing cupboard which the dc don’t go in

Others are on top of the wardrobe

Mine are 3 and 5 so aren’t hunting for presents yet as they still believe in Santa but I’m sure in the future I will have to find somewhere

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 06/11/2018 09:46

Forgot to say, I've already failed at hiding them - DS saw a big box in the boot of the car (in a bin bag) and immediately started shouting "Is it my light up scooter?! Is it?!"

Guess that one won't be coming from Santa then.

Lovemusic33 · 06/11/2018 09:56

Me and my brother used to look, my brother would make me look so I would be the one who got in trouble.

My dd2 has ASD and can smell a Christmas present from miles away, I can’t put anything under the tree until the night before Christmas Day or she will pinch them. Nothing can be hidden in the house. Luckily now she’s older presents are smaller and I can hide them in my van or car.

xRoyalty · 06/11/2018 12:45

I hide mine in boxes & bags in my wardrobe, I need to find a better hiding place because it is getting crammed in there [santa]

yesmelord · 06/11/2018 14:03

At the moment I hide them in my cleaning cupboard downstairs as DD is only 2 next month BUT she's recently learned to open the door and stare up to the top shelves where they are piled so I imagine next year I'm going to have to hide them in the loft!!

homeishere · 06/11/2018 14:25

I’ve had a large dolls house down the side of a sofa in our dining room for the best part of 6 months. Been bringing it out at night to paint and repair it. Somehow the three year old it is intended for hasn’t spotted it, despite playing in that room fairly regularly. It must be the magic invisible bubble wrap I’ve casually slung over it.

lazyarse123 · 06/11/2018 20:46

I remember when my boys were about 9 and 10 we got them bikes which we put behind the top of our bed and covered with a quilt. All good until kids came home from school and dh raced upstairs to show them. Don't know who was more excited. These days everything goes in my wardrobe even though "kids" are now 26, 27 and 29.
