DS has correctly pointed out that DS has tons of little toys - cars, figures, animals etc and so for Christmas wants to get him something that he can play with and that does something, whatever that means. He has no actual ideas!!

So, do you??

He already has a small kitchen, rarely plays with it. Dolls house and rocket ship get played with a bit, certainly doesn't need extra stuff. He has a scooter but has awful balance so plays a little on it. Outside slide. Doesn't like swings.

To me all toys seem to be interactive at the minute. We bought dd a lot of interactive stuff for Christmas - hatchimals, a panda, baby born dragon and two baby annabels, learns to swim and learns to walk. I've soon come to realise once they 'do something' they get a bit boring! However her best toy was her hot wheels garage. Does he have a garage?

OhTheTastyNuts · 26/09/2018 17:10

A wooden garage for his cars? They usually have lifts and the cars can go down the ramps etc.

If he prefers Hot Wheels type cars then there are loads of Hot Wheel tracks that fling the cars around etc - although read lots of reviews as some are rubbish.

Kinetic sand is fun (if you keep it on the table and on a tray!)

At that age, DS2 LOVED those wooden fuit/veg sets from Melissa and Doug that you can 'chop'.

An early coding toy such as the Code-a-pillar?

SleepingStandingUp · 26/09/2018 17:10

Despite the ton of cars we have and the number train tracks, no actual garage. This might be a good call actually although it's more floor storage isn't it? He has an assortment of cars from tiny times to happy land and then the smaller ones you get all about.

He had a clingy hot wheel toy last year and is def on the most played with list. He has a few Thomas tracks which he loves so think garage might be a good plan.

Kinetic sand he's a bit weird about touching and choppy wooden veg he just chews (unlike ACTUAL veg).

Will look at the code a pillar things, thry look good but wasn't sure on ages. It's hard because he's a little behind in some areas

DS2 also loved this when he was younger - you can get other vehicles too.

SleepingStandingUp · 26/09/2018 17:14

That looks cool, he loves puzzles

He might like something to do with cogs and gears? We had this that all visitors seemed to love:

Or a latching board? melissa and doung do a nice one.

Toy keyboard?

Marble run
Remote control car - we have a great simple Thomas the tank one with just a forward and reverse button.
Transformers

SleepingStandingUp · 26/09/2018 17:24

Remote control car did I forget to mention he's s a red of anything that moves of its own? Which includes remote control. Even when he has it. We cope with pull and run cars but everything else has to be moved by humans haha.
Marble run he'd love.

We had that, tragically lost on holiday in Wales :( he loved that train!! But batteries were out and remote hid and he was scared of it otherwise. He adores TT though, I think DH counted 15 of them in various sizes hahaha

You can get a Push and Go Thomas that might be less alarming??

myusernameisnotmyusername · 26/09/2018 18:39

my dd has this and it lives on her bedroom floor. You only really need lots of floor space if you have all the ramps out. She also has a criss-cross track which is good.

SleepingStandingUp · 27/09/2018 00:06

We've got tons of Thomas' in numerous incarnations so I think Tom is off the achrosas list this year haha.

DH likes garage idea, although ideally one that fits more of his larger cars too, so the hot wheels looks cool but ot like it would accommodate his happy land cars. I will def have a look around at garages for us and put some of the other ideas in his Christmas list for family.

Thanks

How about

Playdoh advent calendar
Teenage mutant ninja turtle advent calendar
Monkey mania
V tech toot toot construction site
Raptor fingerling

nuttynutjob · 27/09/2018 03:55

Would he like a Rainbocorn?

Joinourclub · 27/09/2018 07:46

Duplo?

TwoGinScentedTears · 27/09/2018 07:48

One of my favourite toys at this age was a saxoflute or tubations. Basically the same thing. Quercetti toys are good. And we bought an expensive wooden marble run because the plastic ones were too difficult at this age but the wooden was was brilliant, he used his wooden bricks to make it even bigger and you can buy extension packs too.

bookmum08 · 27/09/2018 07:52

Duplo or Lego Juniors.

Mummaluelae · 27/09/2018 07:58

Honestly best presents I've bought my ds with is
Furreal Tyler the roaring tiger
Fisher price code a pillar
Fisher price think and move movi (a robot that they can copy)
Amazon kids fire hd tablet
Vtech innotab max
Keyboard
Playdough table with lots of playdough and cutters

PaulMorel · 27/09/2018 09:00

Do you also have any suggestions for my dd? She likes doing DIY's and also loves to paint.

BiddyPop · 27/09/2018 10:41

Maybe a rug for the floor that has a road and bits of a town printed on it - to run the cars along? I think Ikea do a version and I know I;ve seen similar in carpet stores etc in the past. And it would take up less "storage" space being a rug than a garage would. Or be a great place for a garage to open up onto...

SleepingStandingUp · 27/09/2018 13:41

A rainbocorn for my son??

Do you secretly know us? A unicorn in an egg. It's like the most amazing presebt ever!!

Fingerings he likes but I expect the novelty would wear off. No fancy advent calendars! Will look up the toot toot construction site.

Will Google saxoflute.

He has tons of lego style stuff, not hugely interested yet.

I nearly Brough the furreal dragon for his birthday but he has soooo much fluffy stuff already I couldn't decide if it was worth it.

Will def look at wooden marble runs.

He has a smallish floor mat he plays with a bit, think DH is hoping for somewhere the cars can live haha. Saw a fancy one in Asda but it won't take the larger cars.

paul there's a few construction type toys on here already, and a lthe code a pillar sounds good too
