Where does your main tree go?

I've just moved and the first thing I've done is scout out potential locations for the tree! I am so excited, because I think with blocking off one door and a bit of jiggery pokery I can fit it underneath my living room window which I am so excited about!

It isn't a bay window, but still means I can leave the curtains open slightly and see the tree each time I arrive home!

Where is everyone else putting their tree? Always the same spot, or mixing it up this year?

My new kitchen has a ton of storage, so I also have a Christmas drawer :) Full of Christmas tea towels, festive cookie cutters, coasters, etc. I am so happy I am half tempted to not put the Christmas decs up in the loft but just get them out now!! Not sure what the new neighbours would think of me though...

We have our main tasteful one in the bay window. And the kids' one which looks like Christmas has vomited on it on the storage unit in the dining room!

There's no other space, so no mixing it up. 🎄

flubbadubble · 02/09/2018 08:13

In the corner of the living room/dining room. Our flat isn't tiny but awkward with sockets/windows/radiators. It means we have to move the table but there's nowhere else to put it.

3girlmama · 02/09/2018 08:14

Bay window in the lounge.

CherryPavlova · 02/09/2018 08:15

In the stairwell, as ever has been.

girlinleeds · 02/09/2018 08:17

our main tree has to go in the same spot every year as its the only place it'll fit, would love a bay window to put it in. We do have many other trees that range from 6 ft down to 2 ft (think there's about 10) and they got rotated around different spots in the house

katienana · 02/09/2018 08:19

I want mine in the bay window. Also moved house this year. Second one going to go in playroom/dining room. I bought lots of very cheap decorations in the b&m sale last January so plenty of tat for 2nd tree!

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 02/09/2018 08:20

Have a massive from window but because of the layout of the room we can’t put the tree there so it goes in the back corner of the living room.
I actually like it better there than in my old house it was in the bay window but again because of the layout of the room it wasn’t right in front of me when I was sitting on the couch and I like to sit and look at my tree.
It doesn’t matter anyway because the last 2 years dh has gone to pick up the tree with ds1 and they were so big I had to go and buy more lights so it can be seen from space anyway.

OrcinusOrca · 02/09/2018 08:26

One in the corner of the dining room so you see it from the porch as you come in. The other in front of a blocked up door in the living room. I don't like them in front of windows because of the radiators. If the radiators were elsewhere I'd consider it.

bananasandwicheseveryday · 02/09/2018 08:36

We only have one tree. Although we have a bay window, the tree cannot go there as it
is very wide (7'6" tall) and would block the view of the TV. Because of the size and shape of the room ( almost square), the tree sits in the corner and furniture is moved around to accommodate it.

CrazyBaubles · 02/09/2018 09:37

Our tree goes in the corner of the living room, in the recess next to the chimney breast which is also partly in front of the window (however, window faces the back garden so you can't see it when approaching the house). It's the most logical place for it and we only have to move one chair to fit it in.

I have a small (3ft) tree that used to go on top of the fridge but since we replaced that for a very tall one it now sits on the dining room dresser.

We have a metal wire tree thing that we used last year as we were away for Christmas and I'm not sure where that's going to go this year.
We have a bay window in a room that's barely used and is full of junk but I may put the wire tree in there just so I can see the lights when I get home Xmas Smile

Dining room, as there isn't any room in the living room. We moved in November last year and had room for the tree in the living room (bay window). Now we have converted bay into a window seat and don't have room It made me a bit sad but the dining room is the first room we go into in a morning when we go downstairs (after coffee is made!) so it kind of makes sense now I think about it.

SimplyPut · 02/09/2018 09:53

I remove a standing lamp from the living room and replace it with one Christmas tree. The other goes by the stairs in the hallway. Can't wait!

funmummy48 · 02/09/2018 09:58

We either out it in the corner of the living room, moving a standard lamp to fit it in, or we have a 3ft one on top of a cabinet in an alcove next to our fireplace. When we go to choose a tree, we decide where it's going based on the size of tree we choose.

Alanamackree · 02/09/2018 10:46

Our tree is in the living room in the bay window. Originally it was tastefully decorated to pick up accent colours in the room, but now has sentimental and hand made decorations all over it. I love it.

Floralnomad · 02/09/2018 10:49

We are undecided as yet as we are mid extension being built , last year it was in the conservatory and the other one was on the landing .

NachoCheese22 · 02/09/2018 10:55

We moved house last October and the one of the first things I did was plan where the tree was going to be. My DH thought I was nuts but I don't care....it's important! Anyway it goes in the corner next to the TV in the living room. We have an occasional chair there so that will get moved into the spare room. Can't wait to put it up Grin

Loud one in corner of the kitchen

Where does your main tree go?
Charlottejade89 · 02/09/2018 14:05

we've also moved so 've last Christmas so ours will be going in front of the window which is over 2m wide (not a bay window tho) last year we had an 8ft Xmas tree which was about 6ft wide and took over my whole lounge, so hopefully it will fit abit better this year. Also chuffed we've got an old fireplace/mantlepiece to put a swag and the stockings Smile

Figmentofimagination · 02/09/2018 14:21

It's varies. Previous years I've had 1 in the bay window of the living room and one in the dining room. And sometimes a small one in the conservatory. The last two years I've only managed to put up 1 tree (pregnancy tiredness and then baby tiredness) in the bay window. This year the bay window is where all my son's toys live, and my son is a very inquisitive toddler, so the tree is going in the dining room out of his reach.

DramaAlpaca · 02/09/2018 14:28

Our tasteful one has always gone at one side of the bay window in the sitting room, but we've rearranged the furniture this year so I'm thinking it'll go at the opposite side. It'll be nice to have a change.

We also have a smaller artificial tree in our cosy little TV room. That tree is really gaudy, with coloured lights & tinsel. Love it!

JustLurkingAway · 02/09/2018 17:37

Just the one tree, (I'm tempted to buy a small one for the kitchen!)in the corner of the living room by the window. Can see it from outside which is niceSmile

Stompythedinosaur · 02/09/2018 18:26

Our main tree goes in the living room (in a space by the window that is normally occupied by the dc's easel which is folded for the festive period). Our living room is not huge and this space is the best compromise for not blocking the way and being able to access a plug socket.

We have a secondary twiggy tree in the dining room, in the back corner, and a small tree on the chest of drawers in our bedroom. The dc have a tree in their bedroom (one of the tubs of soft toys has to move to the spare room to make space for this).

I would like extra small trees in the kitchen and bathroom by I fear this may tip dp over the edge.

FilthyforFirth · 03/09/2018 06:27

Thanks everyone, I've enjoyed reading these! Lots of variation, so good ideas in case it doesnt fit in my window.

Whoever up thread said they had a tree in their hallway by the stairs, I'm very jealous! This is my ultimate dream (I spend hours on pinterest drooling over them) but sadly it wont work in this house and we probably arent moving again!

The bigger one in the living room in the corner, a medium sized one in the kitchen and a little one in the boot room. I love going to pick out the trees.
