One wrapping paper design per child?

Sorry if the title isn't particularly self explanatory! I was just wondering if those of you with more than one child choose one design of wrapping paper for each child to make identification in the chaos of present opening a bit easier and to save the torture of writing out gift tags? Or do you just use whatever paper comes to hand whilst you're wrapping?

Yes, it is so much easier

SweetheartNeckline · 24/08/2018 22:34

My kids get about 3 presents each from Santa wrapped in cheap "kids" paper and the extended family wrap their own and give to the kids from themselves. I have a feeling our present piles are much smaller than most on here! Stocking gifts are mostly £2 or less in value (entire stocking £20ish) and I wrap what I deem worthwhile - the toothbrush, Shopkin, pants and socks last year iirc. I do all my wrapping on December 23rd and it takes about 45 mins if DH joins in. I love faffing and fuss pottery so feel I'm missing out here!

SleepyPaws · 24/08/2018 22:38

Yes, Father Christmas presents are wrapped in one design per child. This paper is also completely different to what's under the tree.

sweetkitty · 24/08/2018 22:38

Four children, four different types of wrapping paper. Santa doesn’t wrap but leaves out for the wow factor. My family are extremely lazy and just sling money in my bank account for the DC so I buy presents and wrap them in a different paper too.

Youaremysunshine4eva · 24/08/2018 22:40

We do this!

Pinkprincess1978 · 24/08/2018 22:42

Santa uses same paper for each child's presents (and sometimes sends us a role to help him wrap when he is busy 😉) presents from us are wrapped in a mix of paper.

Alanamackree · 25/08/2018 04:57

Santa uses different paper for each child, clumsily wrapped with lots of sellotape because the elves are in a hurry. How else would the old man know which present was for which house? It would be pure chaos on Christmas Eve otherwise Xmas Wink

I, on the other hand, wrap with care and precision, using good quality paper and fabric ribbon and coordinating tags.

I remember my mum looking nonplussed one Christmas morning as I played with ‘my’ new doll that with hindsight had been intended for my younger sister. There’s no confusion with separate wrapping paper.

TheGirlWhoLived · 25/08/2018 18:34

Yup we do this - or else the same design but a different colour if we can manage it!
Sometimes you can get a festive version of a favourite cartoon (we did Peppa Pig vs Minnie Mouse a couple of years ago) but this year they are both obsessed with LOL dolls, so character paper is out.

PotteringAlong · 25/08/2018 18:35

I do this too!

WhereIsMyDressingGown · 25/08/2018 18:44

Don't faff with tags. Too much effort and waste. Just wrap each child's presents in different paper. And you can choose which paper you think they'll like too which is nice.

InflagranteDelicto · 25/08/2018 18:49

Father Christmas has one paper. That is hidden so they never see it. Then one design for each DC, and leftovers from previous years for everyone else. Everything is tagged using tags made from old cards as well.

Stuff for stockings then goes in separate named bags ready. Still didn't stop dh one year from mixing them up, Dd1 and Dd2 got each others stocking stuff, we had pants that didn't fit, themed stuff going to the wrong girl. I had to blame it on the large drink left for FC.

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 25/08/2018 18:51

Yes, I do this and it makes life so much easier. Ours get five presents from father Christmas which are all wrapped in the same paper with a tag and the rest are from us all with their own paper, dh and myself also have ours in different paper. I've actually taken it a step further the past few years and do my side of the families adults ( my mum, dad etc ) in one paper and the adults from my husbands side in another. I then use a different wrapping paper for nieces and nephews. I end up with leftover paper but I just pop it in the attic and use it the year after. When the kids are all unwrapping there's no mix ups and tbh I do think it just looks nice too

RandomMess · 25/08/2018 18:52

Yep FC brings his gifts in special paper. Our gifts each child has their own wrap design.

When there isn't enough it gets used on friends/relatives presents.

Far far easier.

lettuceWrap · 25/08/2018 18:54

Yes, I’ve done this for years (4dc) each dc has a different colour ie red for DC1, silver for DC2 and so on, but not necessarily all the design of paper.
I might buy 3 matching rolls for each dc, but then just buy any other paper the same colour if I need more.

sirmione16 · 25/08/2018 18:59

My mum wrapped mine and my brothers in different paper :) clever woman imo - no gift tags, no labelling... if it's red it's yours, gold it's your brothers for example

lettuceWrap · 25/08/2018 19:01

I do the same as your mum! No labels required Smile

clary · 25/08/2018 19:04

Yes this is a brilliant idea. I have done it for the last few years.

FC used to bring his in special FC-only paper, but that's not an issue now everyone knows The a Truth, so the separate paper (Santa for ds2, penguins for dd, snowflakes for ds1) is brill for stocking stuffing on chr eve too.

Just make sure you buy enough in case someone has something big! I find Akdi paper at 99p a roll is great.

liquidrevolution · 25/08/2018 19:09

@BeBesideTheSea same here! Coloured tissue paper from the craft section of pound shop.

It's easier for small hands. Have also invested in brightly coloured paper bags this year Wink

Goldenphoenix · 25/08/2018 19:27

No, we like to mix up paper because the kids enjoy reading the labels and sorting out the presents into four piles. It is a big part of Christmas morning here and slows down the opening of presents

MollyMallyMindy · 25/08/2018 20:20

I'm the present wrapper in chief so I do presents in the same paper until I need a new roll. Presents are labelled by writing on the end in pen. Possibly stocking presents are in a different paper (from the Christmas Cat or whoever the santa-phobic child has allowed that year), but that's it. I like similar sorts of paper each year in red and green and gold so not too hard.

MsJolly · 25/08/2018 20:22

Santa uses red paper-though only brings one main gift and stocking fillers.
Each child has their own paper under the tree from us.

SnowOnTheSeine · 25/08/2018 20:28

Nope.

Stockings are wrapped in one or two sets of paper (often bits left over from last year as the presents are small).

Then I just use whatever paper comes to hand. I put a festive sticky label on with the person's name. Then DS1 reads the name and hands out the present.

sirmione16 · 25/08/2018 20:32

Ooooh I like the idea of Santa using a specific paper.... makes it seem more "real" because he wouldn't use the same one mummy bought surely Grin

RandomChitchat · 25/08/2018 22:51

Father Christmas only brings the stocking presents here and they're wrapped in a different paper for each child (I've got about 60m of each design in the attic so that paper will be the same until I run out). Our presents to them under the tree are in all sorts of paper.

NataliaOsipova · 25/08/2018 22:52

I do this too. It makes life so much easier. Sounds daft, but it really does!
