Joining in this year. I went rogue for the last couple of years and it didn't work out well, my Christmas needs this thread!

Just ordered the Nintendo Flowers starry missed it last year.

AlbusPercival · 29/05/2018 15:22

Anyone have any suggestions for a two year
Old? DS will be 2 a few weeks before Xmas and hoping to spread the cost

Herwhogivestoomanyfucks · 29/05/2018 15:32

Place marking as a newbie, love Christmas so happily taking your bargain tips on board. This one will be our first with children so must be organised!

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 29/05/2018 17:04

Albus my ds1 was very into duplo from 2 and it still gets played with every day, 3 years later. I got big boxes of mixed blocks rather than sets, although family members have bought him vehicle sets etc over the years.

Also train track, WOW toys, Melissa & Doug vehicles, some of the younger Orchard Toys games - recognising colours etc.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/05/2018 17:51

Wooden fruit and veg which you can cut up was DS' favourite present at 2. I can't remember what DD got at that age!

2 is the age of the toy kitchen in our house, so anything which went with that was perfect.

AlbusPercival · 29/05/2018 19:02

Thanks both, we don’t have room for a toy kitchen, but food is a good idea. He’s not into his Duplo vehicles at the moment, but by December may well be. Anyone

Seen any bargains in that?

RJnomore1 · 29/05/2018 22:50

I need to remember to do that benefit mascara thing.

Notso · 30/05/2018 10:50

I've just ordered the Joseph and Joseph baking set too starry it looks good for £9.99.

Does anyone know if the code a pillar be suitable for a 5 year old?

ziggiestardust · 30/05/2018 14:20

Hello everyone! I started yesterday and found these little gems on Amazon:

www.amazon.co.uk/HENGSONG-Unicorn-Necklace-Pendant-Message/dp/B075P5HPGY/ref=pd_bxgy_21_2?psc=1&_encoding=UTF8&tag=mumsnetforum-21&refRID=MZX4YTXJ7CXNCR70ER36

38p with free delivery. I’ll let you all know once they’ve turned up if they’re any good; but for young girls, a bit of costume jewellery is lovely. Obviously make sure your giftees don’t have any metal sensitivities!

Thank you to the poster who linked to the toys for £1 website; that’ll be really useful for stocking gifts.

SymphonyofShadows · 30/05/2018 14:25

I've only just found you all! Just back from M&S where they had Summer beauty boxes with no explanation of how to get one. They did this in Nov with the beauty advent calendar on the day before the offer started, so I'm expecting the promo to go live tomorrow. It looked like a good selection of things.

EmGee · 30/05/2018 16:33

Marking place!

hoopdeloop · 30/05/2018 17:41

Smiggle have their 5 for £5 on if people need stocking fillers or topping up for August

ziggiestardust · 30/05/2018 18:08

How often do Smiggle do 5 for £5? That’s a really good offer for stocking fillers!

hoopdeloop · 30/05/2018 18:32

I’m not really sure I’m afraid, I’m lucky that my DS isn’t of an age for smiggle, it just appeared on my Facebook page

YuleABUnREASTIEable · 30/05/2018 19:43

I think I’ve seen 5 for £5 a few times before so it must be something they do periodically. They did a 3 for £5 a while ago and I got a pack of gel pens in the offer for dds party bags.

daphine2004 · 30/05/2018 20:08

Keep an eye on the Book People as I bought book sets so I can whip one out when we go to parties. Works out about £1 a book and so far saved a fortune, as I was spending up to £10 for each kid at nursery...

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 30/05/2018 22:14

albus when mine were 2 and the 2 year olds at work these are popular
Happyland - in particular the double decker bus, house and rocket. Click clack track, tea set with cut up cake, dinosaurs/animal toys, favourite characters (paw patrol and pj masks are popular at the moment), dressing up (in particular hats/old real phones)

notso we have the code a pillar at work and use with 2/3/4 year olds and it's pretty popular. I think a 5 year old would be able to use it independently but may outgrow it quite quickly- might be best looking at bee bot that's the one they use in schools normally.

AlbusPercival · 31/05/2018 08:26

Thank you. Dressing up is a great idea. We have silk scarves and he loves draping himself in those!

SideOrderofSprouts · 31/05/2018 10:36

I bought that unicorn necklace last year and never got it

I’ll have a look at smuggle

Don’t forget the works is brilliant for stationary related stocking fillers

FireflyGirl · 31/05/2018 12:39

Good call Symphony. M&S Beauty Box £135 of items for £15 when you spend £40.

RJnomore1 · 31/05/2018 15:19

I bought the unicorn necklace and got it, it's pretty, good for the money

NoWordForFluffy · 31/05/2018 16:53

Anyone on Quidco? See the attached Benefit offer.

ziggiestardust · 31/05/2018 19:29

sideorder I’ll keep on top of it, I’ll let you know if it arrives. Fingers crossed!

Smiggle bits ordered, they’re brilliant for stocking fillers. Usually in the summer near back to school time as well, you get a free pencil case with a new school bag, so that’s worth keeping an eye out for.

Great idea with the beauty box! What’s everyone doing? Giving it as a whole gift or splitting it into sections?

SymphonyofShadows · 31/05/2018 21:26

There is a lip salve thing in the beauty box that looks like it's in a cute little beehive case, that would be a nice gift for a teen girl. The M&S perfume that is included is a nice light lemony one, which would suit a young person. Nice mascara too by the looks.

RJnomore1 · 31/05/2018 22:55

It's an EOS lip balm and very trendy and coveted.
