I would say for me between the laptop I got last year or the ps4 I got two years ago.

As a kid- a pair of kickers.
As and adult- a Nespresso machine Grin

AJPTaylor · 17/12/2017 21:46

When i was 4 my dad made me a wooden cooker and made an entire rest of kitchen out of boxes. 45 years later i still have the cooker carefully made so the eye level grill was perfect height for my little 4 year old head.

A Michael kors watch for my 21st. Got with dh when I was 17 and he always promised that once we had money he would get me one, I don't think I have ever gone a day without wearing it

pallisers · 17/12/2017 22:26

As a child my sindy ballerina doll. I coveted that doll and couldn't believe it was finally mine.

As an adult hard to say. Probably a ring dh's aunt gave me that had belonged to dh's great grandmother. I wear it every day and will pass it on to one of my daughters who will be able to wear a ring belonging to her great great grandmother.

Best expensive present- sewing machine because it has given me the ability to make lovely things.

Best thoughtful present: my handmade quilt which is so beautiful and will be an heirloom.

Best random cheap present: my microplane grater . I would never pay that much for a grater but it's really super :)

Stompythedinosaur · 18/12/2017 01:58

An experience from the Mysterious Package Company.

Neiflette · 18/12/2017 02:00

The box set of Supernatural when I was.... 16 I think. Seasons 1-6 at the time.

Weezol · 18/12/2017 03:03

Winky I seemed to get something in my eye reading your post.

As a kid: Tomy Tronic 3d - we were quite skint and I secretly wanted one but didn't tell my mum and dad because I knew it was £35. Thank you Nana for being a terrible secret keeper.

As an adult: A complete set of the Narnia books. A friend and I had been talking about when we had read them as kids and he had trawled charity shops to make up a set in the 80's covers I had described.

blinkineckmum · 18/12/2017 08:24

A kindle

KC225 · 18/12/2017 10:04

My friends clubbed together and got me a llama walking day too. Was yours on the South Downs?

Cutesbabasmummy · 18/12/2017 14:08

A giant fake engagement ring with a note "If you say "Yes" we can choose a real one! I said yes...!!!

CakeNinja · 18/12/2017 17:55

A car! On a Christmas where dp and I weren’t getting each other anything Grin
I hadn’t even passed my test, but it encouraged me to do so, I’ve had freedom ever since Xmas Smile

user1497997754 · 18/12/2017 22:26

A peaceful and stress free Christmas with goodwill to all men and women

Peachypie83 · 19/12/2017 06:55

I didn't start learning to drive until I was 31. DP bought me a car to learn in. Hands down, best gift ever. Just thinking about it makes me smile

BornInALighthouse · 19/12/2017 14:41

A halogen heater when I was a student living in a damp horrible flat. We used to huddle round it in the living room.
As a kid it was the chemistry set I asked for 3 years running, eventually got it and it was brill.

CheeseGirl4 · 21/12/2017 07:42

This year, and it isn't even a present for me! My sister lives the other side of the World and I miss her every day. Two days ago I got a Christmas card from her asking if I fancied a travel buddy on this year's adventure - her Xmas present from my BIL is flights so she can come and join me.

Eminybob · 21/12/2017 07:47

My friend bought me a iPod shuffle once (in the days before your phone became your music player) and she pre loaded it with all my favourite tunes.
That was lovely and thoughtful.

Wilhamenawonka · 21/12/2017 07:58

Bit soppy but dd2 was born beginning of Dec a few years ago.
She's truly the gift that keeps giving (big loved up emoticon)

Tisfortired · 21/12/2017 08:11

When I was 5, I really really wanted one of those children's laptops, a bit like the leapfrogs of the mid 1990s! With a desk to put it on like I'd see the kid on the advert with.

We had barely any money at the time, my mum had given both to my sisters a few days before and everything was upside down. My mum and Dad both warned me that Father Christmas might be able to fit down the chimney with a desk, that the laptop might be too expensive for him.

I'd resigned myself to not getting them, but came down on Christmas and there they were, a slide up bureau desk with the laptop on top, I remember feeling absolutely ecstatic!

My mum told me a few years later that my dad (a taxi driver) had decided at the last minute to go out and work ALL Christmas Eve to buy it, and then rushed to toys r us literally minutes before they closed.

I've never forgotten it and it gives me the warm fuzzies still!

Stompythedinosaur · 21/12/2017 15:45

Tis that's Lovely!

BeeMyBaby · 21/12/2017 16:32

A smooth skin gold 2 years ago. I no longer have permanent stubble, I feel so much more confident as it was the one thing I found completely hideous about myself.

TossDaily · 21/12/2017 16:40

A swing and slide in the garden for my third birthday.

I still remember the thrill when I opened the back door.

Turneeps · 21/12/2017 18:48

Kindle

LynetteScavo · 21/12/2017 19:11

Tiny tears when I was 5. I was sooo chuffed F.C. k ew what I wanted! Xmas Smile And also some expensive perfume when I was about 19...from my parents who don't do expensive gifts.

DH has given me some really lovely presents, but it's not such a shock coming from him. Smile

CantChoose · 21/12/2017 19:53

Tis that's given me something in my eye...
Lots of heartwarming stories on this thread!
