Or what's fashionable... Is it the bright colours or white these days?

Turning 14 year old is getting trainers, top shop jeans Nike hoody upgraded phone (no cost ) and some smelly stuff from lush / boots.

Double hit as she is a xmas day baby so birthday pressie is laptop and Mac make up lesson and vouchers

11 year old wants trainers and hollister stuff luckily no birthday

5 year old wants a snail!

Oh hadn't thought about the smellies, but she got loads of makeup from my sister for her birthday in September.

Makeup lesson sounds good, but dd is mixed race and unfortunately, Ireland has fuck all specialists in coloured skin as it is still predominantly white - even getting a hairdressers to deal with her hair requires a two hour trip to Dublin. Honestly, where we live, she is probably the only person with darker skin. She is involved in drama, so they do her up for performances, but it's more dramatic makeup.
She's too young for makeup yet anyway and is good-looking enough not to need it yet (in my humble Mammy opinion of course)! She hasn't properly hit puberty so her skin is still clear, so doesn't need specific teenage skin products.

Interesting your 11 year old wants Hollister. I may have underestimated their label consciousness!

God bless your 5 year old. Grin

This isn’t my teen, but I’m keeping her company this evening. I’ve asked and she is getting (apparently) books, jeans, clothes - (top shop and Zara) a river Island bag, make up and some board games.

Apparently she is too old for hollister now...

Caulk · 24/11/2017 21:07

Oh, and perfume.

hiddley · 24/11/2017 21:09

Caulk, they're a bloody minefield! Not sure dd is tall enough for topshop yet. She's only 5 foot, and a waist size of a 7 year old.
LOL at her being too old for Hollister.

I think next year I'll just give her a couple of hundred and let her knock herself out.

Hadn't thought of perfume. Very important to knock everyone out with your scent in secondary school lol. Another bloody minefield.

This one is 5’2 at the most so I think top shop would be fine for her! The smallest clothes they do is a 4 I think, so you’d probably be surprised.

Hollister here is full of 11 and 12 year olds apparently.

She’s at an all girls independent school and I wonder if that makes a difference?

hiddley · 24/11/2017 21:14

Might do! DD's school is mixed and international boarders.

Glad I didn't shame my poor unfortunate child yesterday with 25% off getting her Hollister. The immortal shame.

I'm thinking I'll bring her to Boots on 26th and let her pick a fragrance in the sale. That's me done!!!! Once I get these blooming trainers sorted, I've bought for everyone else. You'd want to be made of money. Already costing me £40 extra to travel for 4 days to transport presents in holding :(

Totally agree about hollister dd1 loved it Year 6 and 7 no interest now. I’m sure they get more label conscious younger now the 11 year old and all her friends are way worse than the 14 year old at that age.
