What trainers are your teen girls looking for this Christmas?

Or what's fashionable... Is it the bright colours or white these days?

Since her feet have grown, she genuinely needs proper training ones again. She has asics and nike, but is just about outgrowing them. Then she has a load of other cheap ones. I know she'd probably prefer to get a trendy pair, but Mammy has to think about her wee feet! Cos we're boring like that.

Brooks are very good sports ones. You can get them sometimes in tkmaxx.

hiddley · 24/11/2017 20:09

Anyone care to ask their girls about the purple nike ones I linked to? Or even, their suggestions for good running pairs....

hiddley · 24/11/2017 20:09

Budget is 100 max....

hiddley · 24/11/2017 20:10

I might just end up asking her to pick a pair herself, but that kinda ruins the Christmas surprise element....

If it makes any difference she has long skinny thin feet.

If you are anywhere near Hatfield there is a Nike outlet store - I’ve got dd roshes and huraches there (probably spelt them wrong) but they were a lot cheaper

hiddley · 24/11/2017 20:14

I had a gait analysis done on her years ago and she has that thing (name escapes me), where when she runs, her foot goes inwards, so ideally she needs the instep support that Asics do.

I'm not a teen but I live in trainers
I have 3 pairs of Adidas superstars (if she's a size 4 or less they're cheaper in the junior section!)
Adidas ZX flux are so comfy they're my favourites
Nike air max are always trendy as well

hiddley · 24/11/2017 20:15

Never heard of Hatfield - I'm in London? Prefer to buy online as am really unwell at the moment.

Hatfield is Hertfordshire, near St Albans

hiddley · 24/11/2017 20:16

She's size 6, the little scut. And 5 foot tall. She's all feet bless her!

Hatfield Galleria is just off the A1 not far if you are North London.

Caulk · 24/11/2017 20:17

The teen here says she would wear them for school sport. She’s 15.

jaimelannistersgoldenhand · 24/11/2017 20:18

Have you looked at the Nike.com sale shoes? Use the code BF30 for an extra 30% off

hiddley · 24/11/2017 20:18

Jaime, unfortunately I'm not English, so you might as well have told me it's Timbuctoo. I have zero knowledge of English geography.

OP posts:
hiddley · 24/11/2017 20:18

Nope, haven't looked, but will look again now. Thanks for the code.

hiddley · 24/11/2017 20:20

Thanks Caulk. That's a sort of half-hearted endorsement lol.

Might just give her a few good pairs to choose from herself.

jaimelannistersgoldenhand · 24/11/2017 20:20

Dd says that she would wear them unless her PE kit/training clothes are a colour that would clash.

hiddley · 24/11/2017 20:26

Training kit is navy and grey.

Ok, the more I'm reading, I'm just going to let her pick a pair herself. As a 40 year old, I have no idea what is 'trending' for 13 year olds.

I'll just have the stipulation that they have to be training/running shoes. She can knock herself out tomorrow. She's at a friend's this evening.

OP posts:
hiddley · 24/11/2017 20:29

No doubt, she will have to consult with her peers on Monday Grin

As a matter of interest, what else or indeed what are you getting your teens (she's 13)?
So far, it will be the runners, Nike bottoms, a Nike hoodie (God I sound like a walking advertisement for Nike) and a pair of Sapphire earrings (her birthstone). Was thinking of getting something Hollister yesterday, but not sure she's aware of that brand yet. She has just moved from a tiny rural primary to an international boarding school, so she might well be.

She got an ipad for starting secondary a couple of months ago, and a new phone for her birthday in September, so is that enough? Total about £250?

I live in London and she stays with my Mum in Ireland for school, so both my Mum and Dad are pretty generous to her too (they're separated), so my Dad usually gives her money and my Mum would spend similar to me. Interested to hear what your little ones are wanting, so I can give my Mum advice too as she hasn't started shopping yet.

OP posts:
hiddley · 24/11/2017 20:46

She tends to gobble up books, so I suspect my Mum will get her a few books for her kindle. It would be good I think if my Mum got her more stylish trainers for everyday use (sometimes my mother can be as stubborn as a mule though so will do the opposite to what I suggest *sigh).
Her godmother has also asked what show she's into to get her tickets to bring her to something. I don't even know who is popular music wise with them these days or indeed who will be touring Ireland, so that's another hurdle. Knowing me, I'd suggest Justin Bieber and she would be shamed for life haha cos he's not cool anymore.
