No one in my family likes Christmas pudding except me. Note to self to buy one that is fantastic just for me.

All you non pudding people, what dessert are you having on Christmas Day?

I will be having lashings of alcoholic cream, with or without a dessert.

Swizzlesticks23 · 15/11/2017 16:57

Once I got a profiteer role cake a big massive one it said serves eight

I ate most of it over four days.

Maybe that's why I'm over weightHmm

Dozer · 15/11/2017 16:58

DD2 and DH plan to make chocolate brownies and strawbs dipped in chocolate. DD1 has a grand design gingerbread house in mind after too much BakeOff but is unlikely to actually attempt it and more likely to scoff bought gingerbread and do Minecraft.

HillaryWinshaw · 15/11/2017 17:00

Bakewell tart. I’m the US and my in laws all look suspiciously at Christmas pudding as though it’s a cartoon bomb 🙄😂 They have a “polite” bite and leave me to Hoover up the rest.

ToothTrauma · 15/11/2017 17:03

I always make a Yule Log and trough a huge slice Grin

InDubiousBattle · 15/11/2017 17:04

A Snow Queen, yule log, mince pies and Christmas cake. Cheese board will be for supper.

PurpleDaisies · 15/11/2017 17:06

Nigella’s chocolate gingerbread cake.

Chocolatear · 15/11/2017 17:10

We're doing Christmas on 23rd as we're going away very early on Boxing day. I'm cooking for the in-laws. MIL is very anti alcohol so I won't be doing a Christmas pudding as it needs to swim in flaming brandy.
After much research - looking for alcohol free desserts, I've ordered this one. I think it will fulfil all the various dietary requirements!

Lily2007 · 15/11/2017 17:11

A giant chocolate cake and a giant lemon tart. DS (10) always talks about his love of tarts including Tarte Tatin which he calls sticky bottom upside down tart. Blush

Ginmakesitallok · 15/11/2017 17:14

A pandoro cake with fruit and cream, a pavlova, cheesecake of some sort and something chocolatey. We're going to sil's and I'm on pudding!

AnnieHoo · 15/11/2017 17:18

Cointreau Trifle Smile
Sticky date pudding and toffee sauce
Mini pavlovas

winterinmadeira · 15/11/2017 17:21

Sherry trifle. We buy Christmas pud but it never really gets eaten...

kally195 · 15/11/2017 17:22

Profiteroles. Filled with cream, with a normal chocolate sauce for DH and DD and a whiskey chocolate sauce for me.

SymphonyofShadows · 15/11/2017 17:24

I bake a really lemony cheesecake with a ginger nut base, which we have with vanilla ice cream. I also make rocky road and gooey chocolate brownies on Christmas Eve, which the DC like as pud.

DrRisotto · 15/11/2017 17:34

Desserts are the best big of Christmas for me! We have quite a large gathering which gives me a good excuse for the number of desserts i'm doing.

So we buy Sainsbury's fanciest yule log (we've usually devoured one in the run up to Christmas too to be honest)
I make Oreo truffles - they are exceptionally awesome and simple
We'll have a Bakewell tart
We're trying a Raspberry, white chocolate and almond trifle
And I might do individual nutella moussey things (mostly for me) and Tiffin.

I like everything...

NoWordForFluffy · 15/11/2017 17:34

Symphony, do you have a recipe for the cheesecake? I'm making a Christmas cake one, but I love a really lemony one, so I'd make that too!

AdaColeman · 15/11/2017 17:42

Christmas pudding, being as how it's Christmas! Xmas Grin I'll probably do a Mont Blanc too. Wine Wine

beyondworriedmum · 15/11/2017 17:51

Usually do a key lime pie and a fresh fruit pavlova so I use use up the egg whites! Tried shop bought desserts always been disappointing tbh...

WindowWiper · 15/11/2017 17:51

Tiramasu known as trampsy in this house since the kids couldn’t pronounce it when they were little - they’re in their 40s now. Grin

cathyclown · 15/11/2017 17:57

Good vanilla ice cream with crushed chocolate and optional Baileys on top!

Geegee4 · 15/11/2017 18:00

I’ll be eating whatever MIL purchases in the frozen dessert variety. I always feel quite despondent that there aren’t any homemade desserts, and all my offers to make something (anything!) over the last 15 years have been rejected. I have loads of time and am an enthusiastic home cook.

There is a firm view that store bought is for best and homemade is rather low rent 🙄 and how things used to be done before they came up in the world and could afford M&S.

demirose87 · 15/11/2017 18:06

Going to get in a few. Got a chocolate orange christmas pud so will have that with custard. The kids are going to have chocolate log or a gateau. Saw some really nice looking puddings in the aldi catalogue.

laughingpencil · 15/11/2017 18:13

We usually have Chocolate gateau, yule log/fudge cake or trifle. There's only three of us and one eats mince pies and custard, one wont touch trifle and I eat everything Grin

CiderwithBuda · 15/11/2017 18:14

No idea yet.

Have a pudding I didn't use last year.

It's just us and MIL. DS only eats chocolate cake but really only likes Betty Crocker brownies so I'll probably to them for him.

Was thinking of a spiced pavlova of some sort.

DrRisotto - fancy sharing your Oreo truffle recipe please? They sound good. DS might even like them.

dantdmistedious · 15/11/2017 18:18

My mum makes Christmas pudding and trifle and we will have the chocolate reindeer desert from m and s.
