Christmas

Stuck on 9yo DS. What are your boys asking for?

What are the 8/9/10 year old boys in your life asking for this Christmas?

I usually find my nearly 9yo son so much easier than my 5yo daughter to buy for but I'm drawing a bit of a blank. He has his birthday in a couple of weeks too so I need a few ideas. I'm reluctant to buy more lego as he has loads.

We are thinking of getting him a stunt scooter for Christmas so that would be a main present. And I've already bought him some Hexbug battlebots for his birthday. But I'm also expecting some requests for ideas from the Grandparents. He likes football, basketball and plays the guitar but doesn't need much relating to these hobbies. He saw a Meccano Android thing in a shop recently and added that to his wish list. Any other ideas please?

My nine year old has added a domino track to his list which we have never had. He would also like: a football shirt; a football; a sponsorship for a guide dog puppy (random but I like it!); books (and am starting with the Alex Ryder set, currently £12 from the Book People); a Build a Bear bear or voucher. He is getting some of them, plus Harry Potter pjs from Asda; HP socks (also Asda); a HP mug; and maybe some Star Wars Lego as I suspect that when he sees the new film he will be back into it. It is a hard age! Can anyone be specific about the Harry Potter merchandise please?

My ds (9) is getting a tablet as his main present, a ps4 game, a Wonderbly book, various info books, couple of dvds, Dan TDM backpack and signed dvd, a Lego set of some description, clothes, Converse, chocolate Lego bricks, a spy set, possibly a Lego dimensions add on. There will be some other small stocking fillers. He does go karting so possibly some race gloves and potentially a helmet.

I’m stuck for my 9 year old DS too. He’s mentioned a meccano set, but not a lot else. As such, I’m thinking about surprising him with a portable cd/dvd player for his room. I’ve always been adamant about no tv in rooms until teens, but he loves watching films, so I think he would really appreciate it - and be wowed!

Ds (10) is getting an airhogs drone, football shirt, football tracksuit, champions league football, football guess who, Star Wars nerf gun, loads and loads of books, PS4 games - Lego worlds and Star Wars battlefront 2, room alarm, football training cones and ladder, Lego tape, Lego stacking base plate shelves.

He's asked for a phone or gaming chair - am deciding!

For those boys who like pokemon and legend of zelda you can get translated japanese comic books in large comic stores. These are very cool!
Also chais cards for Pokemon stuff. You can find some weird things abd its cheaper than amazon.

Can anyone recommend some audio books for that age? I bought him Tom Gates last year and have been absolutely amazed by what a hit it was. He still listens to them every night -and I'm sick of hearing them-. He's read most Roald Dahl books and not so fussed on David Walliams. Any other recommendations?

My ds loves his laptop to watch YouTube or play roblox, he has a ds to play Pokemon and a xbox with Lego games and minecraft. Other than technology he likes his stunt scooter, power ranger weapon toys, ninjago dress up, he also still likes play mobile of it is an appropriate set. There’s good pokemon knock off Lego on eBay, teddies of Pokemon, Pokemon baseball hat like Ash’s and gloves that are like dressing up gloves.... x

My 9yo DS is having:

  • F1 2017 game for Xbox
  • Lego speed champions F1 set
  • football trainer thing (one of those with a net for the football to go in attached to an elastic cord that goes round their waist...not a great description sorry!)
  • football
  • Carcassonne board game

He’s also asked for Rocket League Xbox game, a football kit, new trainers, the F1 review of the season DVD. Some of this will be suggested to relatives but he won’t be getting all of it.

Ds (8) is having a new motorbike but will have it early as soon as it comes into the shop as both of his current motorbikes are sold ( should have been in on 1st nov and current motorbikes are both going on the 18th 😡). He’s aware that this will be his only present from ‘us’.

From ‘Santa’, he’s having 2 new bike kits ( maybe one of the kits will be from ‘us’), possibly a new helmet, a push bike helmet, Pokemon guess, Pokemon monopoly, Harry Potter cluedo, karate gloves, a slime making kit, an electronics kit, a rubix cube, Harry Potter book 4, a Pokemon book, 3 Lego sets, a Vans hoodie, pyjamas and stocking bits such as chocolate, a pen knife and a head torch.

A few people have mentioned a slime making kit. Which ones are you looking at? That's a great present idea.
