RJ, I bought the Naked heat palette for my DD's birthday, it's very nice & was well received

Sadik · 17/09/2017 20:28

Hmm, not sure the Kanken bag is quite her style - though they do look very practical.

Youcanstay - my biggest hit in recent years was a giant beanbag gamer chair, about £30 off ebay (idea from MN!) Would your boys like something like that?

Badders08 · 17/09/2017 20:35

...biggest hit last year?
An inflatable t rex from Amazon for 90p...

2ducks2ducklings · 17/09/2017 20:36

I've literally asked my kids to write Christmas lists just this afternoon. They were both unimpressed because it's only September but I've normally got something by now and I'm stressed!!
I love the idea of the sprocket, my daughter would love that. She whatsappd me a photo of a pair of biker boots the other day so I had to turn into super sleuth to figure out where they were from as she'd found them on Pinterest. Turns out they're Steve Madden Bickett boots or something. Whatever they are, they seem to be impossible to buy in this country. She's asked for a dog. Erm NOPE and three books which are also unavailable in this country from what I can see!
She's mad on reading and Disney, she's not overly into fashion but knows what she likes and this changes weekly so that's super unhelpful. She doesn't wear make up. It's so hard to buy for them at this age.

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 17/09/2017 20:42

Demented, basically it's screens and not much more. He's got a four year old laptop his grandparents bought him and a seriously uncool brand smart phone. And nothing else!

Sadik, that chair might be popular. Thanks for the idea.

My DD has a Kanken bag in khaki, she's hankering after the dark red one now.

My DS will be 18 in Dec , so Milestone Birthday and Christmas , and he's impossible to buy for too Xmas Hmm
My D will be 15.6 , she writes A List Xmas Grin

I do Hampers on 1st Dec now (started last year, they thought it was better)
So PJs , new robe, bath smellie, sweets

I'm doing an Advent for DD with a Beauty Gift in a clear bag (mini travel sizes of shampoo, face pack, soap , candle ,sort of thing) rather than buy one and she doesn't use them (I've had a look through the previews of Beauty Advents)
DS would probably like a couple of £1 coins each day.
They'll have a Chocolate Advent (of course)

We save £2 coins + 10p/5p/10p/2p/1p in a tin and I cash them up and divide by 4 of us. They can buy what they want (its usually £60-£80 each)

I have no clue what DD want clothes wise so she'll get a Gift Card for TopShop and Pink to choose herself . Last year she chose a really nice grey top and leggings from Pink .

DS will probably get money (he saves everything)
He's already got a big TV as an early present + a stand.
He might buy himself the new XBox so we'd get him games.

Some 'named' (like Calvin K or similar) underwear though DD said he won't care if they're CK or M&S !

Dd 15, cursed child tickets, season 6 once open a time (hopefully, can't seem to find uk release date), selection of books, family game, likely some clothes that she would never be bothered about asking for but will need and likes having stuff to open!

Stocking fillers - chocolate, socks, Harry Potter door hanger and light switch decal, stationary bits and pieces, maybe some mascara - she rarely wears make-up so just borrows mine, hair products.

Need to call into the shopping centre one evening this week so I will make a note of anything else that catches her eye for suggestions for family.

That Sprocket looks pretty good, I'm wondering if dd would like it from her grandparents.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 19/09/2017 22:34

DD1 - (16) Ravenclaw fleece blanket. Perhaps a hoodie too. Minecraft for her PS4. Possibly Imagine Dragons or a comedian's show tickets depending on prices/availability.

DD2 - (13) Nail stuff. Smelly candles. Fluffy cushions.

She's had a 2nd hand xbox 360 with minecraft and lots of other games from a family friend who was selling it as well as a chair for her bedroom, for her recent birthday. So she doesn't really want for much else.

Star2015 · 20/09/2017 06:38

Sadik also check out TKMaxx... I picked up a lovely Dune rucksack on the weekend for £24!

Star2015 · 20/09/2017 06:45

2ducks Our kind of local TKMaxx had lots of Steve Madden things in stock on the weekend... coats and boots.. would be worth a look!

sandgrown · 20/09/2017 07:05

DS 15 says he just wants money but loves to open presents. I have looked at the beanbag chairs too. Definitely a new dressing gown. He has grown so much he looks like Hugh Hefner in his current one!

Chimchar · 20/09/2017 07:06

Not quite sure yet, but wanted to say to a few posters (can't remember who!!) that Primark have loads of adult Disney stuff and Harry Potter too...home stuff like door hangers, pictures, blankets etc, and also jamas and dressing gowns, and all really cheap!!
To the pp whose daughter likes reading and Disney, there are some new books that I bought in Asda, 2 for £7 that are from what I understand, rewrites of the story from the baddies point of view. I think!! They ar e called 'twisted tales'.

Hth someone. Smile

Badders08 · 20/09/2017 07:13

Sadly toyrus seem to be in trouble so look our for sales in the run up to Xmas :(

Ragwort · 20/09/2017 07:18

DS has asked for a double bed - am giving it some thought Grin. He would also like a laptop and I think this would be a good present as he is now in 6th form, hopefully Grandparents will share the cost.

I think I will cut down on 'stocking fillers' this year, I have noticed that all the 'fun' things I buy aren't really appreciated so will probably just stick to socks, underwear and Lynx.

Sadik · 20/09/2017 15:52

DrMadelineMaxwell could you link to the Ravenclaw blanket??? I quizzed dd re. backpacks - and the answer is yes, she'd love a new bag . . . there's a specific one she'd really, really like (Nerdfighter Giraffes in love backpack Confused ) . . . but it's all sold out and probably limited edition only. Have asked for a slightly more achievable suggestion Grin

PosieNarka · 20/09/2017 18:34

umbrella

We can't afford those sort of things either.

It does get harder as they get older. For example, I wouldn't be able to choose clothes, make-up etc for my 16 year old dd as her tastes change and I would no doubt end up buying the uncool brand or look.

Fortunately stocking presents are a doddle in comparison!

Dd, aged 16: mini toiletries, Iwako/Paperchase novelty erasers and pens, chocolate coins, candy canes, keyring/ bag charm

Ds, aged 13: always gets a Hotwheels or Corgi mini vehicle, chocolate coins, candy canes, any novelty items (eg, an extendable back scratcher and a revolting squeezy eye last year)

I usually buy stocking presents from Poundland, Tiger, Tk Maxx, Superdrug and other cheapo places

millifiori · 20/09/2017 18:37

My DC always get a book, a CD (they're the only ones among their friends who don't only stream music) a DVD, a tee-shirt. They're both music mad, so one gets guitar strings and picks, a new pedal or effect for his guitar and the other gets sheet music, composition notebooks etc or an add on to his home studio. They get money too. So most of the presents are smallish and not too expensive.

MadisonAvenue · 20/09/2017 19:11

The 17 year old teen here will be getting a block of driving lessons. That's what he had last year too (he was 16 then and it was saved for when he was 17) and also for his birthday. It's a bit more than we'd usually spend but, as a student and being knocked back for every part time job he applies for, it's the only way he can get the money to learn to drive and he so desperately wants his licence.

He'll probably also have a new hoodie, pyjamas, aftershave (he likes the David Beckham ones which are, thankfully, quite cheap), chocolates...

millifiori · 20/09/2017 19:40

Also shop in Poundland for stocking fillers - Toblerones, Reeses pieces, bath gels, beanie hats, gloves etc. And if you have girls there are loads of great bits of make up kit in there - brushes and eye shadow applicators etc

dementedma · 20/09/2017 19:41

oooh, what are composition notebooks? Ds might like those if they are some music thingy

PerfumeIsAMessage · 20/09/2017 20:25

Oh this thread is a godsend! Totally stuck for did this year (14) beyond the smellies (will get her a beauty advent calendar, Lush soaps and bath melts I think as did Body Shop last year and Yves Rocher the year before.
Harry Potter stuff, pyjamas, I am loving this sprocket thingy idea- she is always asking me to order her photo prints.
She has just started Chinese and German at school so the whopping dictionaries we've been asked to buy will help bulk stuff out.
Tomorrow on the PC I'm going to look through all of your ideas! Thank you Flowers

TheOtherGirl · 20/09/2017 20:26

Stockings will have the usual bits & bobs like Lush toiletries, sweets, lingerie and socks.

Their main present will no doubt be money (again) but I still like them to have a few nice things to open. So think we'll probably get DD1 a grey Kanken ruck sack, a new blue tooth speaker and some Daisy by Marc Jacobs.

I know DD2 wants a MAC Velvet Teddy lipstick and she's pointed out a blush pink Kate Spade tote bag she really likes. So will get her those and probably some red suede Superstars I know she'd love.

RunningOutOfCharge · 20/09/2017 20:43

Biggest hit last year was a remote controlled colour changing lightbulb!!!

Put one in each stocking!
