Keep checking and no one seems to have started a thread on this yet - what to get the DHs/DPs in our lives?

I can repeat some of last year:
Voucher for homebrew shop
Voucher for posh cheese shop
Selection box of posh teas
Magazine subscription pertaining to camping and/or caravanning

Bottle of whisky was an old stand-by but he's concluded after extensive taste testing that he's not that into it.

Anyone got any brainwaves for the men in their lives?

I'm thinking the following

Tickets to a sporting event
Blue tooth headphones
Small block photo of him and his DF who passed away

HouseworkIsASin10 · 11/09/2017 12:57

I need ideas apart from the usual aftershave, dressing gown, slippers.
I'll pick up a nice bourbon, but really need a 'main' present.

secondhoneymoon · 11/09/2017 13:09

No great ideas as I struggle with the men in my life every year so watching.
This tyre inflators coming up in Aldi on Thurs if of interest to anyone

I'm struggling this year too and after an appaling Christmas last year I really need to pull it out of the bag! For his bday I arranged a year of date nights so can't really do something like that!

MusicToMyEars800 · 11/09/2017 13:47

I will probably go for a bottle of Glenfiddich whiskey, It's pricey but I know he will love it! Other gifts in mind are
Cologne ( probably Dior or Chanel )
Some nice clothes
That's all I can think of really as my DP isn't really into sport or anything like that.

PovertyJetset · 11/09/2017 13:49

Ideas for DH
Aftershave balm
New socks
New robe
PJ Bottoms
Cashmere jumper
Coffee
This works pillow spray
Nerf gun

PJBanana · 11/09/2017 14:18

Bluetooth headphones went down very well for DP's birthday just gone.

Also experience days (track day, beer/wine tasting etc), or a subscription service, there are so many different ones to choose from now! I'm thinking of getting a nice coffee subscription for DP this Christmas.

He will also be getting a new bag for work, and a nice gift set of his favourite aftershave.

ilovetea14 · 11/09/2017 14:28

I got my Dh 2 nights away in Belfast with a Game of Thrones tour he loves that show. Got it for his bday in November but could be an idea for Xmas present. For Xmas it's the usual stuff aftershave Liverpool jersey, tickets to a comedy gig.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 11/09/2017 14:30

Fitbit
Bottle of champagne
Cycling shop vouchers
Sweets

OutnumberedbyFurchesters · 11/09/2017 15:43

Placemarking as I have DH birthday on 20th Dec too and have a grand total of 0 ideas Confused

jo10000 · 11/09/2017 20:47

I've just done a photobook for our anniversary, it's lovely and was fun to create with bonusprint. I'm thinking of doing more for Christmas for friends. I've also done a hamper in the past for OH, with a travel theme.

RuggerHug · 11/09/2017 20:54

I'm thinking of a digital photo frame for his office with photos of him and DS already loaded onto it. Have a few little things to add on but need to decide if I am doing the frame for the 'main' present or what!

BeatriceBeaudelaire · 11/09/2017 22:59

Well my first port of call will be one of those Ancestry spit test things ...v interesting

midnightflowers · 11/09/2017 23:00

Placemarking as I have no idea as usual!

MuddlingThroughLife · 12/09/2017 07:38

I always get dh pants and socks as he always seems to need them. I've already bought a pack of Atari socks I saw on offer in Game.

Also got him pacman pj bottoms for Christmas eve. Need to get a tee-shirt to go with them.

I've just bought theatre tickets for Flashdance. He loves all things 80's including the girlie films!

Also planning on getting him an Amazon dot and maybe some trainers too. Will probably pick up some stocking filler type bits too.

marvellouscreation · 12/09/2017 07:44

Snaffling pig jars.

MayhemandMadness01 · 12/09/2017 07:49

Placemarking for ideas as every man in life is bloody difficult to buy for

HouseworkIsASin10 · 12/09/2017 10:34

marvellouscreation Will take a look at them, DH loves pork scratchings Smile

Minster2012 · 12/09/2017 15:42

What are snaffling pig jars??!!!

KingLooieCatz · 12/09/2017 15:45

Nearly forgot to come back!

I've done photobooks before, one year I went back over photos we'd had for years and never printed. It took ages but it was a lovely thing on Christmas Day to look back over and share with family.

He'd love a weekend away gift, especially if I arranged my Mum and Dad to have child overnight.

I'll look at This Works pillow spray as well. He works shifts so it can be hard to get a good sleep.

He could definitely do with new PJ bottoms, one pair is catastrophic. Especially if could find novelty them ones. Bet Primark will be my friend there.

I bought a partner a Cookery Day voucher with Hugh Fernley Whittingstall. He chose the bread day and absolutely loved it.

Into fitness & running - Garmin GPS tracker.

Tickets for a band (resale websites have most stuff)

Kitesurfing/windsurfing/surfing lessons

Dinner at nice restaurant & Airbnb

Airbnb weekend (off season can be very reasonable)

Research shows that experiences are remembered much longer than the gift of the towelling dressing gown.....

MrsK · 12/09/2017 16:02

My DH is very difficult to buy for too. I've exhausted gifts for his hobbies., he doesn't need anymore boots or brogues from Loake. Last year I had his late fathers watch professionally serviced & cleaned. This year, he is getting a weekend Whiskey tour in Speyside Scotland. I'm organising it with my SIL, they are coming too. I got the inspiration from a similar thread about difficult to buy for men on here.

FoofFighter · 12/09/2017 16:07

I've got the man in my life a magazine subscription for the sport he does, a Hodor door stop from Amazon and will probably get some nice vodka.

@ilovetea14 I'd love some info on the GoT tour please!

Badders08 · 12/09/2017 16:10

Can I have the game of thrones tour info too!!??
😁

Norland · 12/09/2017 16:17

On the off chance my good lady ever reads this, I'd like :

  • helicopter lessons (again) stopped doing them and would like my PPLH
  • a yacht (something like an Oyster56 would do, or a 90 rigged for single-handed sailing)
  • I really could do with a Lamborghini Miura, Jaguar D-type or Jensen Interceptor. A Brough Superior or Vincent Black Shadow would be nice too.
  • If she's still reading, I might suggest she organises a trip to Machine Mart and takes notice of the things I say I 'need' as we wander around. B&Q doesn't really cut it.
  • I'm also in need of some decent hiking socks (and probably a spare pair of boots)
  • The pants are always welcome, so no need to mention them.
  • I'm okay for gloves and tee-shirts thanks and my choice in formal shirts is too be honest, far better than hers.
  • DO NOT BUY ME TRAINERS.
  • I have enough ties to start my own outlet.
  • Anything sold by IWOOT will be regarded with a jaundiced eye, on the 25th (it will of course attract the requisite amount of complimentary thanks and be unused after the 26th) www.iwantoneofthose.com/gifts/gifts-for-him.list
  • A book(s) is so much nicer than a Waterstones gift card (requires wrapping)
  • I'm fine with the 10 or so bottles of aftershave that have built up over the last few years.
  • If Machine Mart is not too local, then Park Tools sell nice bike kit.
  • If buying me another bicycle, please ask what sort I think would be a nice addition, before getting me a 17" frame with 29er wheels (I don't want one of those)
  • If you insist on getting me a personal trainer, please make sure she's fit (yes, you know I can be trusted) If she turns up at 6 a.m. you go for a jog with her.
  • Decent fountain pens and Patek Philippe chronometers always go down well. (NO, I do not want a Rolex)
  • Dunhill lighters will be wasted on me.
  • A one-on-one with a top-notch chef would be very welcome.
  • A day screaming racing cars around the track, or rally-cars, or a glider lesson would be very good.
  • I know my abilities at golf and I'm happy with how I handle my clubs; do not book me a set of lessons at the club.
  • Anything in the kitchen is good. Remember, you cannot buy a decent knife for under £50.
