Christmas Stockings; who do you do them for?

Do you do them for everyone in your house, and if yes, do you do one for yourself?!

Now DS is a but bigger (almost 3 at Christmas) I want to start having stockings in bedrooms, but ideally for everyone (inc DH) . So should I do one for myself too?!

I'm thinking yes, I should - don't want to ruin the illusion for DS and if I don't, no other bugger will do one for me

@MuddlingThroughLife I feel the same! I remember watching 'Christmas in a day' and one family didn't wrap any of their presents, they were just all out in piles on the sofa... still irritates me!

Everyone gets one at ours but I don't do them all - I do them for the DC and DH and DH's parents, DH does mine, my sisters and I do them for our parents, my mum does them for my sisters, my sister does one for my nephew...

We just put cheap little bits in like socks, little mirrors, mini torch, chocolate orange or coins, hair bobbles/clips, touchable bubbles, pens etc

A chocolate orange is a must in all of them I think (well, maybe not the 2-4 week old... however DH will disagree with me there, And insist baby gets one so he can eat it!) . I'm looking at getting some of those crochet choc orange covers this year for them and putting them in the toe of the stocking...

Just an idea, why don't you do the stockings for the others but get dh/buy yourself a beauty (or gin) advent calendar?

Now the kids are older I give them a tenner and they spend 5 in the pund shop and 5 elsewhere and do a stocking each for me and DH, we do theirs.

tootsieglitterballs · 12/08/2017 13:10

That would be a nice idea @NeonFlower . Perhaps next year.... this year DS2 is due last week of November (so most likely first week of December) so an advent calendar will be wasted on me this year! Unless it's filled with coffee...

Our new stockings came today. Here's a photo of them (names blanked out). They're on top of the tumble dryer so you can appreciate the size of them!

I make them for my 2 ds's and dh. Dh is rubbish at making mine so my sister makes me one as my present from her :)

NotAsYoungAsIWas · 12/08/2017 21:49

All six of us and they are by the fireplace. DCs are 14, 19, 21 and 25!!

ridingsixwhitehorses · 12/08/2017 23:09

I do them for my kids, dh and my mum. I make dh do mine. The kids know santa only brings them for kids.

fleshmarketclose · 12/08/2017 23:17

Everyone who is here for Christmas gets one here including the dog. Dh does mine ably assisted by dd1 and I do everyone else's. Dc are aged 30 to 14. It's the best bit about Christmas IMO, we empty ours at the table after lunch which initially was started to encourage the dc to stay at the table and they refused to alter the routine as they grew up Grin

onemorecakeplease · 12/08/2017 23:22

Just the dc and ddog!

GherkinSnatch · 12/08/2017 23:28

Everyone in the house gets one - I do one for DH and he does one for me (daft things like sweets and toiletries and a new toothbrush), and I find little bits for the DC - usually chocolate coins, a tube of sweets and a couple of silly little toys. Last year DS got a compass and a hot wheels car in his. And an orange - always put an orange in.
