Looking for board games to play with dd2 who will be 10 at xmas, nothing that goes on for too long. Games we like and have already are Connect 4, Snakes and Ladders, Frustration, Snap, Top Trumps, Guess Who, Yes/No game. Anything else in the fun but quick category?

Boggle. To make it fairer yo can make everyone subtract their age from their score!

Quirkle Cubes

By 10, a child will be able to play proper Monopoly. The Junior version to very simple, but DS had grown out of it by 8.

Triominos

We've recently started playing traditional card games too.

Payday, still a favourite, and my DS's are teenagers now.

Upwords. It's 3D Scrabble 😄

BikeRunSki - yes we do have normal monopoly and enjoy it, we also have a few other monopoly versions but nothing beats the original in my opinion

Sushi Go is fab, it's about £10, so won't break the bank, but can play 2-5 people, all ages. My 8yo picked it up in a couple of minutes, rules are simple, and scores are written on the cards so nothing to remember.
All ages can enjoy it.
A "proper" board game like Ticket to Ride would be my recommendation. It's usually about £27. Lasts 30-40 minutes though (sometimes more if people take their turns slowly).
Another fab, quick "proper" game though is "King of Tokyo" - it's monster themed, you throw dice, have cards for power-ups, not too difficult rules, and very fun. It's about £25, I think.
Machi Koro is also a good one, one of my favourites, and about £25.

King of Tokyo plays fairly quickly, btw- about 15 minutes for us.

Zombie dice is another good quick one - trying to score as high as possible before getting three strikes on the dice.

Cooperative games are great for getting the littlies involved. 2 is probably a bit too little, but from about 4 (if they're happy to sit still for a bit). Castle Panic (stopping monster pieces from destroying your castle) is good, so is Forbidden Island (collecting treasure cards to escape from a flooding island). I'm not so keen on Hanabi - it relies on you seeing everyone else's cards and telling them one piece of information and not accidentally telling them too much - it's frustratingly easy for kids to slip up.

King of Tokyo is lots of fun, but not really a 2 player game.

Seven Wonders Duel is a good 2 player - lots of different things to think about - my 7yo likes to try to wipe me out with military strength. It's a little bit complicated to learn - probably worth trying to watch someone play on YouTube or somewhere - I threw a pretty big strop when DH tried to explain it to me!

Yes I should've added, I haven't tried playing Hanabi with the DCs yet! They would find the concept incredibly difficult (both likely have ASD) so leaving it for a while yet :)
