Omg where are they from 😍

NoWordForFluffy · 22/07/2017 22:41

eBay! They're ace, aren't they?!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/07/2017 22:43

ooh they are cute Fluffy . The reindeer would look lovely along a windowsill .

I have some Spode Christmas Tree , some Portmerion Holly & Ivy and one from HomeSense (plate) that's dark grey/green a Victorian shop front.

I use a plain white dinnerset all year and add these in.
I put my BHS Ivy dinnerset into the charity shop this year because I don't use it - plates are too small really for the full dinner experience. Hopefully someone will buy it and love it like we did .

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/07/2017 22:46

DH and I had a grey scandi style bedset for Christmas , I put that in the Charity shop as well, it was getting a bit thin (but still had good use in it)
I wanted a tartan and stag duvet last year but never got round to buying it.
This year ........I'll have to be on it Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 22/07/2017 22:47

A Scandi duvet cover would be ace. Must find one!

NoWordForFluffy · 22/07/2017 23:14

Found one (though not what I'd call traditional Scandi style).

Attached is the duvet cover plus photo of bedroom!

I'm quite fond of Catherine Lansfield stuff. DS is the only one without one of her designs on his bed!

Last year's tree! Not sure how I'm going to manage this year with a presumably mobile baby! Hmmm.

You need a playpen barrier (that's what we did!).

NoWordForFluffy · 22/07/2017 23:33

This is our tree last year. Back to fake this year!

NoWordForFluffy · 22/07/2017 23:48

I hope that link works. If not, the design is Nordic Trees.

FireflyGirl · 23/07/2017 00:13

I've got a Nordic style, brushed cotton set from Primark. Well, 2 actually, as DH and I have our own duvets because he is rubbish at sharing and I got sick of being cold.

I didn't take a picture of my tree last year - DS was 21 months and I am really fond of my baubles, so I put lights and some felt ornaments on but that was all for the tree. I'm hoping this year I will be able to decorate it as normal! Rest of the decorations went up, so it didn't look too bad, and saved me pulling my hair out trying to keep my baubles safe.

I'd love a Christmas dinner set, but can't justify it. The every day set we have is fine, we have a Christmas plate and glass each, I have nowhere to store it, and as yet we've always had Christmas dinner out anyway. Maybe if I win the lottery...

73kittycat73 · 23/07/2017 02:07

Yay, OhOurBilly, a bit of tinsel!!! Xmas Grin Actually all your trees look great. Must take a picture of mine this year.
We have three sets of Christmas dinner sets. One for show as the plates are quite small (Not big enough for a proper roast dinner! ), it's very Christmassy though, has snowmen on it IIRC. One that's plain white with gold scrolls round the edge (That we eat said aforementioned roast dinner on.) and lastly one with holly on that has yet to be used.
I have Christmas bedding too. Xmas Grin Got Santa on them and everything. I also (Not strictly Christmas but wintery.) have two Cosy Home bedding sets. Anybody every heard of them? They sell them on QVC. They are so luxurious!

Thanks 70isa.agree about take out coffee. Ican see for Christians it's an important time of year. It's nice to give gifts. It's nice to buy for children and make a nice cosy home
The tree and the lights brighten up the winter. I feel so sad about those in need of basics that the spending doesn't sit well with me.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/07/2017 08:44

While it's sad that there are so many people who will have to go without (and the whys and wherefores are multiple and complex, and I don't intend to debate them here) that isn't a reason to not spend an amount that you can afford to bring some happiness to others.

Policing others' happiness and joy is a really miserable trait. By all means have that personal view, but there is no benefit in trying to bring other people down by spreading misery.

randomer · 23/07/2017 08:49

No policing go on and I don't have the power to make another human being feel something. We are responsible for our own feelings. If we have more than enough material goods why do we need to add to the pile. Never mind.

MarmaladeTeepee · 23/07/2017 08:57

Firefly I got our dinner set from the pound shop (the blue one, not the green one) two years ago. It's dishwasher safe and surprisingly good quality considering it was something like 3 pieces for £2. I know scandi chic is a bit old hat, but I find it works perfectly with all the DCs homemade decorations. Athough I am secretly dreaming of the day I can lose the Santas and embrace crystals and opulence again Xmas Grin

Glad I've found this thread!

HandbagCrazy · 23/07/2017 09:21

Randomer - You're being unfair on this thread. There are relatively few places on MN which are argument and debate free - this is one of them. Please don't come on here and judge when you clearly haven't read the full thread. If you go back and read you'll find a lot of talk about hampers, tree decorations, cooking, baking, planning and family time. Very little about buying things.
This thread is an appreciation of Christmas and how we're all looking forward to it. Disagree by all means, but stop posting negative comments here.

Anyway - back to the festivities! I was lucky enough last year to be bought this dinner set by dm. To say I was excited was an understatement.

I am currently flicking through the Jamie Oliver Christmas book to see if there is anything there that I would like to try out. We're away for Christmas but will
Probably do a Christmas dinner with MIL and my family before we go

Randomer - this might be the one time a year some of us ladies have all the family together and fully celebrate. Some of us might only be able to afford to buy gifts when they are on sale and use this thread to share tips. Others might make all presents DIY but you know what it's completely up to each individual person how much they spend and how they celebrate.

I presume from your judgmental comments that you do not buy people presents or spend any money on any type of meal that isn't the 'normal' family lunch. Good for you if that is what you wish to do.

I don't. I want to spend my hard earned money making incredible memories and enjoying the day and the build up to the day like the majority of the ladies on this thread so why don't you take your miserable negative judgmental opinions and go and argue somewhere else. Perhaps open a different thread where you can complain about how we are all in a consumerism web etc etc? Maybe entitle it 'Bah Humbug'?

Rachey28 · 23/07/2017 09:46

Ladies thank you for your wonderful ideas for Christmas Eve boxes!

We never had them as children either but i thought it would be a lovely tradition to start with my little girl.

We are going to get one of the crate style boxes and have PJ's, Dressing Gown, Slipper Socks, DVD, hot chocolate, reindeer dust, magic key and a biscuit mix in a jar thing to make together!
