I'm not having this year's baby....

my money is on Woolly

TheWoollybacksWife · 14/01/2017 09:30

Not me either Horace Grin despite Biddy putting the hoodoo on me. I'm rolling firmly into grandma territory in a few years hopefully

I haven't picked any bargains up - unless you count 3 rolls of wrapping paper, 2 packs of cards for DS to write and a box of battery operated tea lights. I think having DS's birthday so soon after Christmas diverts my focus (and my money).

TheWoollybacksWife · 14/01/2017 09:39

You can go off people MrsD GrinGrin

HairsprayBabe · 14/01/2017 09:46

I am v broody atm but DP is insisting we wait a few years. One of our best friends had her DS 18months ago and DP still hasn't even held him!!! So it is unlikely ti be me either.

The snow was lovley here, made me miss my christmas decs though Xmas Sad

purplecabbage · 14/01/2017 17:14

The snow was lovley here
Ah, it's unbeatable when the snow settles. We have no hint of any here, a hard frost that twinkled but left as the sun rose. Tonight feels cold; there is hope!

Tesco's faux fur throw is here and it does feel luxurious and a steal at £17.50. Coming over all wintry cabin!! The best bargain of the sales so far. Will be having a Hallmark movie moment shortly and getting snuggly underneath.

Saw a metal tea light holder that was a Christmas tree; nearly bought it, checked myself. I fear it was pure excitement at seeing Christmas tree shape, rather than truly liking it!!

Will power of iron to walk away from Morrison's reduced price free from Cranberry cookies; we had some in over the break as SIL's children all gluten free, but actually they were quite an adult biscuit.

DH now able to contemplate brussels sprouts again. He loves them but doesnt pace himself at all with food and eventually ate too many. Will be preparing as part of lunch tomorrow; would truthfully like to roll out another Christmas dinner!!!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/01/2017 17:22

No Christmas Babies for me either (yes I know Tina Mallone had a baby at 50 but my reproductive system shut down shop at least 3 years ago , probably longer)

My DC1 is just 17yo so not looking at GC for a good few years (and I'd have to find someone to marry him so it'll be a long while Xmas Wink )

I bought some cute little decorations from Monsoon- wasn't looking for anything in particular but we wandered in (looking for earrings) and saw them.

73kittycat73 · 14/01/2017 18:15

No snow or babies here. though I'd prefer snow Xmas Wink
I did get a bargain from Studio - pink cutlery set, for £2.99 and free postage, but it's not a Christmas present so I don't think that counts? Xmas Grin (It's a dieting reward.)

user1468843120 · 14/01/2017 18:26

I have started buying a £2.50 gift card each week when I go food shopping. Will make a nice big dent in the bill next December. I will alternate the shop through the year so I have a variety of places to shop.

SideOrderofSprouts · 14/01/2017 18:27

I've had my
Thread baby thanks!

Guitargirl · 14/01/2017 18:56

Definitely no babies here either. I reckon my ovaries could just about cope with one more but my patience and need for sleep could definitely not do those sleepless nights all over again.

I took delivery of my discounted Christmas wrapping paper this week so I should be ok for wrapping now - except for the DC's presents - until 2019!

I have been to a couple of exhibitions today and was so impressed with the giftshops - I think am going to make a mental note to include museum/gallery shops in my Christmas shopping next year. So many unusual little things which you don't see in regular shops.

TheWoollybacksWife · 14/01/2017 19:08

Guitar DD1 who is a history geek nerd student requested Rosetta Stone socks from the BM for Christmas just gone. I bought them online as I live out in the East Midlands but the postage was about the same as the cost of the socks - so my advice is get them when you see them rather than doing mail order

MrsDilligaf · 14/01/2017 20:03

Well! It may be that we have to do without a thread baby this year unless:

A) I can talk DH round
B) we win the lottery

I would definitely have another one, and I am pretty sure DH would too. It's finances that are getting in the way and what with him being level headed and sensible about such matters it might be 2018 before we crack on with No2.

Xmas Grin
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/01/2017 20:51

I don't want to scare you MrsD but you need the Lottery Win with even one daughter Xmas Grin
I took my lovely DD (14.6) shopping today .
She troughed a jacket potato (cheese/beans) soft drink to start.
Bought a jumper (her money , she was given some by GParents)
Earrings (titanium ££) - I bought, she can't wear base metals
Cleanser and Face wash - I bought
Make-up (£40) she bought
Eyelas curlers (£20) that I bought but I'm sure I won't ever see again.

Last week - new bedding (£70) because her older brother was bought some (his was £14 though)
Makeup - I bought, present for looking after the guinea-pigs
New school shoes (nothing wrong with her old ones but they made her feet a bit niffy so I agreed to buy new)

And this is on top of all her Christmas stuff.........Xmas Grin

Sell Martha while she's still teeny and cute ! Xmas Wink

pregnantat50 · 14/01/2017 20:53

I spotted some lovely half price Christmas crackers in WHSmiths today. Daughter refused to let me get them :(

SideOrderofSprouts · 14/01/2017 21:03

I second 70

Chipstheeldest is 10 tomorrow. And suddenly the make up and hair stuff and clothing is looking scarier than ever

nickdrakeslovechild · 14/01/2017 22:10

My DD is 5, a one and only no more babies here either. I see some LO and think if only, but we left it far to late for a second and really lucky we have DD.

MrsDilligaf · 14/01/2017 22:28

Shock She'll be going on ebay tomorrow Shock

I won't even charge for postage and packing.

Mrsmadevans · 14/01/2017 23:08

No thread babies here either far too old and pathetic to be able to stay up at night ! No bargains today either l better shape up!!

lollyj84 · 15/01/2017 07:56

Do sons cost as much?? I have two.
Still cute and cuddly just answer back a lot, and seem to enjoy ambushing me with nerf guns.Smile

HungryHorace · 15/01/2017 08:45

I'm hoping not, lolly. I have one of each, so if DS' costs can counter DD's, that would be helpful! 😂

MrsDilligaf · 15/01/2017 09:07

Xmas Grin
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/01/2017 09:33

Happy Birthday ChipstheEldest double figures Xmas Grin

Sons (in my experience anyway) much less £££ to maintain.
Ours just wants money to save and XBox Games.
Doesn't care about clothes (I buy his when I notice he needs them, usually a blitz on H&M and Primark to buy 6 pairs of trousers when he has a growth spurt. He's Hmm when I drag him out to buy shoes)

Might be the year he ups the ante though ............17yo, got his Provisional for his birthday eeek

lollyj84 · 15/01/2017 09:42

Get him to learn asap 70.
I wish i did. I started last year and am just about to take my 3rd test on 27th Jan.Sad

HairsprayBabe · 15/01/2017 11:12

I also never learnt as a teen and regret it now, always feel v anxious about it but i just need to get on and learn

lollyj84 · 15/01/2017 11:51

Go for it Hairspray.
If i can learn anybody can. I am one of lifes natural worriers and have poor co-ordination. Always walking into things.
I never thought i would be able to drive, but started my lessons in may and sat 1st test at end of nov.
