3yo twins. They are getting the fire engine and the play house. They do have some patience and other toys coming too. But also have a (crazy) 16mo. And hosting. 😱😱😱😱😱

This is interesting, I've bought the little house that folds up and has a handle so you can take it with you. I didn't realise I would have to build anything. I'll have a look before I wrap it.

Loraline · 16/12/2016 04:37

Oh dear. We've got the space rocket and launch site. Hope it doesn't take hours to build.

KeyserSophie · 16/12/2016 04:41

I'm still traumatised by the fort. The wirst thing was that DS had dismantled it within days as it was apparently "better" like that.

The thing with Playmobil, it's not like Lego where the construction is what it's about. It's not really meant to come apart once assembled and it sort of clicks together so hard for little kids to do

FixItUpChappie · 16/12/2016 04:41

Loraline my son got the space ship and launch for his 6th birthday and it was a big hit Smile I don't think that one was excessive....took us maybe 1/2 hour and mostly it was easy stickers so not too complicated.

Loraline · 16/12/2016 06:57

Oh great. Thanks FixItUpChappie

WhoKnowsWhereTheT1meG0es · 16/12/2016 07:05

The school took me about 6 hours a few years ago, I did it over several days while the DCs were at school but it was hard hiding it during the construction process as it is so big.

MardAsSnails · 16/12/2016 07:14

Apparently I had already realised at age 3 that Christmas Day was all about dad sitting down putting stickers on things. I opened my playmobil and handed the stickers straight to him and said 'merry christmas'.

Only1scoop · 16/12/2016 07:25

Eminybob no construction needed on that one. Well only fixing together a few little bits of furniture.

SatsukiKusakabe · 16/12/2016 07:46

Shit. I have to unwrap a Playmobil stable, star.

SatsukiKusakabe · 16/12/2016 07:48

Stat.

Eminybob · 16/12/2016 07:51

Thanks scoop

MadameJosephine · 16/12/2016 08:21

justdont I got the ark in Argos for £20 after a tip off on Facebook. Shortly after they announced it as half price which was actually more than I paid!

AalyaSecura · 16/12/2016 08:27

I would only pre make the buildings - school, hospital, police and fire station - wouldn't bother with anything else. But yes to taking out tiny pieces if they're only 3.

actiongirl1978 · 16/12/2016 08:37

Glue the buildings together. Ours managed a matter of days before coming apart and losing the little red and yellow connectors. Consequently we have huge boxes of playmobil parts.

LadyFuchsiaGroan · 16/12/2016 09:15

Has anyone got the City life pre school? I have wrapped this already is there a lot of building or stickers?

Jackiebrambles · 16/12/2016 09:19

Oh my fucking god I didn't know I was supposed to do this! We never did with the pirate ship.

My son has the new water park and my little girl the suburban house.

AwkwardSquad · 16/12/2016 09:20

I assembled the playmobile stable under instructions from niece one Christmas a few years ago. It was fiddly but fun doing it with said niece. Bonding n all that Grin

celtiethree · 16/12/2016 09:24

We didn't glue ours together which meant that we were able to resell on eBay once we were done with it. Took a bit of effort to sort out all the bits but was worth it.

roundtable · 16/12/2016 09:28

Oh brilliant - that will keep fil busy on Christmas day Wink

Jackiebrambles · 16/12/2016 09:33

I was actually hoping the same Round - that will keep husband, father and son all engrossed for a bit so I can get on with dinner/drink.

MistressMerryWeather · 16/12/2016 09:33

The fire engine is the worst for assembly

Oh fuck, really?

I have some unwrapping to do.

minesapintofmulledwine · 16/12/2016 09:35

Playmobil isn't meant to come apart once assembled? This has opened a new world for me. Already picturing all the made up playmobil on shelves. Currently have a big box of mish mashed playmobil.

I have never built playmobil before gifting, and I won't be this year either. In fact this is the first year I won't have anything to put together on Christmas eve. Even scooters came in bits. So, cheers Wine

justwanttoweeinpeace · 16/12/2016 10:01

I'm a playmobil ninja. I can assemble the ark in minutes. It's my only talent.

I'd never ever set it up in advance, the Xmas day audience is the only chance I get to show off my skills.

FreeButtonBee · 16/12/2016 10:22

I'd chance building on the day apart from the fact that Destructobaby will just wreck havoc if we try that. Nowhere is safe now he can climb up onto the chairs at the kitchen table which was the previous safe haven for fiddly non-baby play.

Pre build! My DD is 11 and still loves Playmobil - is getting the City Life hospital for Xmas and I'm going to pre build (if I can find a spare evening) as the luxury mansion took us 2 hours on her birthday

At 11 sure building it is part of the present? An 11 year old can build their own.
