Stuffing

torthecatlady · 13/12/2016 11:20

My husband says pigs in blankets. For me though it would have to be homemade sage and thyme stuffing and homemade cranberry sauce.

RatOnnaStick · 13/12/2016 11:20

Pigs in blankets.

DH says yorkshire puddings Xmas Hmm

petitdonkey · 13/12/2016 11:21

This is my list:

Turkey
gammon
pigs in blankets
stuffing
bread sauce
cranberry jelly
roast potatoes
croquette potatoes
cauliflower cheese
roasted parsnips
carrots, green beans and peas
gravy - lots of!

petitdonkey · 13/12/2016 11:21

And sprouts!!! How could I forget?!

Butterymuffin · 13/12/2016 11:22

Roast potatoes of course.
Pigs in blankets
Carrots
Parsnips
Stuffing
Cauliflower cheese (for me - YMMV Smile)

Are you doing turkey? Some people like a ham/gammon/other meat too. Cranberry sauce needed as well.

myfriendnoel · 13/12/2016 11:28

Dauphinoise potatoes.

canihaveacoffeeplease · 13/12/2016 11:29

Pigs in blankets. The most obscene amount. One of the benefits of being 8 months pregnant over christmas Grin

AgentProvocateur · 13/12/2016 11:33

Bread sauce. Mmmmm...

WhoKnowsWhereTheT1meG0es · 13/12/2016 11:41

Pigs in blankets
Yorkshires
Cranberry sauce

I would ask your family though, there are several things listed above by other people that no one at our Christmas dinner would want (cauliflower cheese, dauphinoise potatoes) and a few things that maybe only one person would want (bread sauce, parsnips).

plastique · 13/12/2016 11:51

What do you do with the bread sauce? I've always regarded it as a bit odd. It's not a family tradition here

blibblibs · 13/12/2016 11:58

Bread sauce is a must and it's the only time we have it.
Everyone in the house would pick something different that is a must. DH must have parsnips, DS needs cranberry sauce, DD Yorkshire puddings, DM sprouts. I love it all so am quite happy to cook, prepare all the individual musts.

WhoKnowsWhereTheT1meG0es · 13/12/2016 12:20

We ditched bread sauce last year, no one was eating it except my mum and she said she wasn't all that bothered.

littleone7 · 13/12/2016 13:11

Thanks for your replies! My family like all of the things suggested although it's only my great aunt who has bread sauce. She insists on bringing her own!

DH says pigs in blankets. But we used to get them and then find them in the freezer about March.

We eat out on Christmas Day now soon worries - but I bet he'll want them for New Year's Day dinner.

andpropersteel · 13/12/2016 14:08

Red cabbage with apple and cinnamon, it's amazing.

anyoldname76 · 13/12/2016 16:19

my must haves are roast potatoes, roast parsnips and pigs in blankets , along with a load of turkey and proper gravy.

fourforksache · 13/12/2016 16:27

Roasties and gravy, the rest of it I can take or leave.

The kids insist on having mounds of pigs in blankets and stuffing. Makes me wonder why I bother with a joint.

Menu this year is pretty standard-
Gammon
Goose crowns
Roasties
Roast carrots and parsnips
Stuffing
Sprouts
Apple sauce and redcurrant sauce.

Bertieboo1 · 13/12/2016 16:28

Yum yum!

I really like broccoli with Christmas dinner, is that a bit weird?

Big thumbs up for pigs in blankets. I only recently started to eat bread sauce and love it now.

TwitterQueen1 · 13/12/2016 16:31

WhoKnows Really, you are B vvvvvvvvv U. I'm ashamed, honestly.

You've ditched the bread sauce? And you believe maybe only 1 person might want parsnips....

FurryDogMother · 13/12/2016 16:31

Turkey (or goose)
Ham
Sprouts
Rost parsnips
Roast potatoes
Stuffing
Cranberry sauce
Bread sauce
Pigs in blankets
Carrots

jo10000 · 13/12/2016 16:47

Mushy peas and most of the above.

WhoKnowsWhereTheT1meG0es · 13/12/2016 17:40

Twitter - it's only my mum that eats the parsnips too, horrible sweet things that they are Grin.

fourforksache · 13/12/2016 17:41

Just wondering how bad the flatulence gets with a mushy pea and sprout combo. 😀

Groovee · 13/12/2016 17:42

Kilted sausages
Decent stuffing
Roasties
