Just updated the spread sheet Grin and everything is now in italics - ordered or bought and safely tucked away ready for wrapping or wrapped.

Totalled it all and it came to £850 more or less for all the dc, family and godchildren incl postage. So I feel slightly sick and also pleasantly relieved at the same time.

Just being nosy really....

Just added mine up and comes to roughly £850 for presents which includes Dd (9) £240, DS 23&GF £180, DH £140, Dm 140 and the rest is DF ( divorced parents) PIL, 3 nephews, 2 work colleagues .
Have bought stuff throughout the year, and as it is the first year there's only 3 of us at home Christmas day (and I always host normally),our food costs should be less than half this year. Still doing Boxing Day though...

chocolateworshipper · 08/12/2016 21:48

£1000 and all finished!

HesterBlue · 08/12/2016 21:58

We have 27 gifts to buy (including 4 Christmas birthdays) and will probably spend £550 in total, including gifts for 2 DC's, postage and a tree. That's based on spend so far and budgetted spend on those gifts not yet bought. We have a £10 limit for young nephews, neices and Godchildren, £35 for parents, £50 for each DC (including stockings) and we don't buy anything for each other. Food costs will be extra though.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 09/12/2016 13:11

We don't save up during the year as such, but do spend money on hobbies/weekends away etc. in the Spring & Summer which we don't do much in the Autumn & Winter. We spend the £1500 across September, October, November & December so around £375 per month - which would probably be spent on other things in the warmer weather.

If that makes any sense at all.

Revealall · 09/12/2016 22:25

£200 on DS, £30 on each parent,
£10 each for good friends x3
,£5-£7.50 for work mates, neighbours and other friends x 8.

Still got to decide on DB and SIL.

I've done better this year.

seasidesally · 09/12/2016 22:27

i buy for 3 DC's and my sister once food is bought will be approx £1800

single parent

no dads about so like to indulge them a little and dont feel guilty about what i spend at all,i save 50 weeks of the year and never get in to debt for it

Crispsheets · 09/12/2016 22:33

I've spent £1500 on 3 people. (Teenage DC's and partner)
I don't buy much Xmas food as we go out Xmas eve and Boxing Day, and I never cook a traditional dinner.
I have spare money at the moment through a house sale...my children don't get gifts from anyone else apart from their dad.

Badders123 · 10/12/2016 17:33

I'm done
Spent about £350/400 on DC
Don't buy for adults
£5 secret Santa for work
£10 token gift for dh
I'd love to know what pp have bought their DC for £££!?
iPads and such I imagine...tech is expensive!

FantasticBeasts · 10/12/2016 18:25

Oak desk here Badders, plus a Canon photo specific printer. The desk at least will last forever.

Badders123 · 10/12/2016 18:31

Oak? Nice!

Iamblossom · 13/12/2016 18:51

I reckon I have done about £1500 on presents. We aren't hosting but helping with food and booze for Xmas eve ,xmas day and Boxing Day elsewhere so I reckon that will be another £250.

This is why I do a direct debit all year for Christmas.

Not to sure what I've even brought as it's all still in boxes in the spare room.. let alone what I've spent.

Things I know about:
£100 gift card for my parents.
£60 on gift cards for friends x3 dc
£20 on parents of the dcx3
£150 in total on 3 friends (decided a few years back that we would spoil each other and not each others kids)
£30 on sister .. £50 between her 2 dc

Ds1 £30 on stocking.. will give £100 cash

Ds2 God knows (his are the boxes in spare room) .. Maybe £300 ish.. but that does include a pair of trainers he needed for school. Plus will give him £100 cash.

£25 Secret santa

Still need to buy for bil .. then I'm done.

Openup41 · 13/12/2016 20:08

A1Sharon - £2000!!Shock

You obviously have it to spend so why not!

Openup41 · 13/12/2016 20:17

We have never spent more than £100 each on our dc at Christmas. They usually receive one main gift and a few token gifts. They are not of an age to request branded clothes/trainers/mobiles/x-boxes. I am sure this will change once they go to secondary school!

OnePlanOnHouzz · 13/12/2016 20:50

2 DDs
My mum, dad, brother and sister in law.
MiL, Step FiL plus 2 nieces and 1 nephew
2 kids of friends

DH and I are going to a Christmas market this weekend so we'll probably get each other a little token gift

We don't buy much food - we're at my mums for Christmas Day and in laws Boxing Day

A1Sharon · 13/12/2016 22:44

I don't buy really expensive stuff for the kids, they wouldn't know a label of it smacked them in the face.
DS1 has Anki, and DS2 Disney infinity. Simon Air, new back packs, games, annuals etc...little guy has that BBQ game, playmobil etc.
I think it's the other folks, I do buy expensive for them. Jo Malone, Space NK, etc.
We are only having a turkey breast and that's £38!! Then crackers, candles, some bottles of fizz...I don't even do a 'big shop', I just buy locally as needed.
Don't know where I'm going wrong.

Mrsmadevans · 13/12/2016 22:49

I have so many to buy for I think its about 1200 give or take !! eeekkkk

SheSaidNoFuckThat · 13/12/2016 23:01

About £1500 on DCs, £200 on DH, mine I don't know, then parents about £100
