Just updated the spread sheet Grin and everything is now in italics - ordered or bought and safely tucked away ready for wrapping or wrapped.

Totalled it all and it came to £850 more or less for all the dc, family and godchildren incl postage. So I feel slightly sick and also pleasantly relieved at the same time.

Just being nosy really....

Oh dear , I haven't started yet! I'm going shopping on Thursday and know most of what I want to buy so hoping to break the back of it then.

DD has just moved to a bigger flat, so I'm giving her some money to furnish it with, as well as little bits and pieces. Total cost (DD, DH, and a couple of other relatives) will probably be around £1,000.

CondensedMilkSarnies · 05/12/2016 16:03

I've just finished wrapping mine Grin . I've no idea how much I've spent - I don't want to know either .

MTWTFSS · 05/12/2016 16:08

It's the most wonderful expensive time of the year!!! (Just finished adding up for DH, DS1, DS2, and family/friends Shock)

SuddenBeetE · 05/12/2016 16:18

All done here, my DP has Monday's off so finished shopping and wrapped the DCs today before stashing it all.

Spent roughly £650, 4 DC (one a baby though) DP, DM&DDad, MIL, 8 nieces and nephews.

Will probably twitch on baby clothes to pass off as presents yet though...

PromisesPromises · 05/12/2016 16:28

Two things I have picked out and just to place the order tomorrow and that's me done. Everything else is wrapped and put away already.

About 500. 2dc, dp and dsis (secret santa). Dc got a games console and tablet last year so were warned nothing expensive like that this year.

I don't do the dinner so no food included in that.

Laniakea · 05/12/2016 16:30

£900: 4 kids, 3 adult siblings/ILs, 3 nieces/nephews, 2 sets of parents. We're not doing presents for each other & have agreed a smaller budget than usual for adult relatives.

That's presents, obviously all other Christmas related stuff (tree/decorations, food/wine, activities, travel, ths kids' Secret Santas, charity things, parties etc) is on top of that. Usually we spend about £2000 in total, I hope to keep in under £1500 this year.

SouthWestmom · 05/12/2016 17:07

I don't keep track of food etc. Although tbf, I realised last year that we chucked a lot of sweet stuff like cake and biscuits so I've picked up pringles, nuts and alcohol this year and tubs of celebrations. Also cut down on crackers - they can have one each on Christmas Day and again Boxing Day!

Haven't tallied it up really as dh and I buy from September onwards as and when we see bargains for dc x3 and then others.
We have a really good stash of xmas non perishables hiding away as we have picked bits up with our weekly shop and the meat is always covered by my dad bless him

Probably by the time I stop the naughty extras because I think they are bargains about £1500 inc food and alcohol. Confused

user1480946351 · 05/12/2016 18:05

How do you buy for 8+ people for under a hundred pounds?

I'm half done. Spent about 400 quid so far?

OohhThatsMe · 05/12/2016 18:10

Tenner each, I assume, user.

Christmascheerful · 05/12/2016 18:10

Around £800 and NEARLY all done one teenage cousin to buy for and some bits for dh from dd and thats me!

HeffalumpsnWoozles · 05/12/2016 18:14

Ridiculous amount here, not totalled it up yet...
Gifts for 14 colleagues (we are a close team but need to scale it back)
4 gifts for overseas neices/nephews. Postage was nearly as much as the presents!
2 gifts for neighbour & her son. Again she started buying for us so I feel obliged.
6 gifts for friends
Various dvd's and tablet for OH

Probably spent around 1k which is ridiculous!

1happyhippie · 05/12/2016 18:16

I have spent about £300 so far. Still main present (ipad), for dd2 to get and a few stocking bits for dd1.
Need something for my parents, but not sure what yet? I normally spend around £50 on that.

So I'm hoping all together to come in under £600
That would be 2 dds, ds and my parents.

atticusclaw2 · 05/12/2016 18:20

I've just put all of mine into an exel spreadsheet to tot it up.

I now feel a bit sick

I thought Id spent about 800 on the DC. Actually Ive spent £1200 (although some of it is stuff they need anyway like new trainers and some of it is a big family day out - HP studio tour and a second family trip out to the cinema)

£140 on DH's family (three adults and two children)
£170 on my family (three adults and four children)

I'm also hosting Christmas and so with food, drink etc I suspect we'll be pushing £2k in total.

atticusclaw2 · 05/12/2016 18:22

I had a couple of twitches on my radar and they are now firmly off my radar!

Cagliostro · 05/12/2016 18:28

Pretty much finished. Not sure how much but most is paid for with money from my parents/grandma as they don't like choosing presents, so I use some of the money for presents (mostly stuff they need anyway TBH like clothes and books) and keep the rest for their club fees throughout the year

bigredfireengine · 05/12/2016 18:48

More or less finished. No idea what I have spent- couldn't even guess. None wrapped up yet- need to do employees at the weekend. Need to do a count at the weekend to see if they are roughly equal in number for those here on Christmas morning and those here for the boxing day santa sacks.

youngestisapsycho · 05/12/2016 18:53

Think about £700 so far... but that's £250 on a PS4 for DH, usually only spend £50. Parents, sister and nephew, few other family members. Both DDs have had more spent on them this year... eldest is into more expensive stuff now! Nearly all is bought and wrapped though, except Hamster for youngest DD which will be bought on the 23rd!

bakingaddict · 05/12/2016 18:54

All in all probably about £6k but that includes a week in the sun from Boxing Day.

SouthWestmom · 05/12/2016 19:10

Oh baking that sounds good!!
Atticus - spreadsheets are great for squishing twitches..

bakingaddict · 05/12/2016 19:30

Thanks noeuf tis needed as its been a shit year for DH health wise

oompaloompaland · 05/12/2016 19:30

I thought I'd finished - all bought, wrapped and hidden. And then DH starts to wonder if he needs to get things for some work colleagues. But all the family is done and dusted. I honestly have no idea how much I spent (and don't want to know tbh - wouldn't be surprised if it's topped £1,000, but I have bought things all year long and squirrelled them away), and most of the stocking presents were bought on a trip abroad over a year ago and have been sitting in a cupboard waiting for Christmas.

atticusclaw2 · 05/12/2016 19:53

Its amazing how quickly things add up Blush. Ive just made myself feel better by converting some avois airmails points (which I will never use because you need about a million to go anywhere) into seven bottles of wine and so at least I've saved a few pounds there.

SimplyNigella · 05/12/2016 21:20

I am pretty much finished, just need to pick up a few token gifts of wine/chocolates etc for neighbours plus a couple of gift cards, so I guess £50 more to go. DH will sort out FIL which will be £40ish.

I've tallied up the Christmas spreadsheet, DS (3) comes in at £180, DSS (17) at £210, DH at £380 and my sister and her husband at £90.

We don't buy for that many people which helps keep the total cost down and means I can spend more on those we do buy for.
