Anyone else with one of these?
Both of ours had broken yoyos in the first day - way to turn a great surprise into tears in in 30 seconds! Neither child managed to get a single spin out of it and they can't be fixed. Cheers, Smiggle

The yo yo was broken in dd's but her 13 year old brother fixed it. He said the part inside wasn't screwed up properly. I will be really miffed if anything else is broken but not opening yet to find out.

CoffeeMad18 · 01/12/2016 20:38

Same for me, 1 broken yo-yo here. DS told friends in front of me that he had a rubbish calendar with broken things in it. Confused

FeedMeAndTellMeImPretty · 01/12/2016 21:29

Yep DD really disappointed with her broken yoyo. She wished she had the same calendars the boys have, which are just some little jute bags with various bits of tat I've bought! Today they both got aftershave and DD was jealous! Says a lot about the Smiggle one Sad

gracielooloo · 01/12/2016 21:37

Ah glad I've found this, we also have the broken yoyo!
So we can return to store for a replacement?
Was disappointed with the whole yoyo thing even before it broke.

GherkinsOnToast · 01/12/2016 21:42

2 is a set of (I assume) hopping chattering teeth which don't hop or chatter! I think they are getting to the point with possibly 4 broken things including the 'big' present watch they should just recall them all and refund.

CakeNinja · 01/12/2016 22:41

How disappointing for all your DC Sad
I didn't buy one but have bought loads from smiggle and had no real gripes with any of it despite what I've read on here.
Sounds like the advent calendars have just been made up of all leftover broken shite, which, for the price, is absolutely outrageous.

elfontheshelfstolemychristmas · 02/12/2016 06:50

Another broken yoyo though my dd said she wanted to look at something and took it apart? It didn't come out broken I don't think. I'm impressed there is a watch though. Dh keeps talking about how dd needs a new watch! Perfect. Fingers crossed it's a working one

MidMay · 02/12/2016 06:55

Yoyo was ok til DS dropped it on the floor but managed to fix it ok. Not good at all that people have had these problems. Will await text from DD when she opens door 2 this morning - thanks for heads up if possible problems.

Handbag101 · 02/12/2016 07:20

I recently ordered stationery from Smiggle and the quality is terrible. It arrived dirty with horrid marks all over it. Customer Services have been brilliant and were appalled when I sent them photos showing the damaged/marked goods. Such a shame as it's not cheap x

CotswoldStrife · 02/12/2016 07:51

As Gherkin predicted, our teeth this morning are not hopping or chattering Xmas Angry DD is having more fun with the freebie Waitrose advent card! Really regretting buying it now, more expensive than the usual Lego Friends calendar and not as good - I have watched a reveal of it online and can only hope that the stationery to come will improve our opinion of it.

Why they didn't put some stationery first instead of the tat is beyond me.

Floggingmolly · 02/12/2016 09:55

Yes, more non working shite this morning Angry. Those poxy little teeth, though?? And a yoyo Confused.
I (maybe naively) assumed a Smiggle calendar would have stationery related stuff in it. Bit pissed off to find Christmas cracker style crap that doesn't even work...

Somerville · 02/12/2016 09:57

Why they didn't put some stationery first instead of the tat is beyond me.

This.

DD2 wanted a Smiggle calendar because she loves stationery. She'd be happy with a rubber - it doesn't need to be amazing. She knows it will all be cheap, small stuff, but she wanted stationery tat. Not toy tat.

Guitargirl · 02/12/2016 11:41

Our yo-yo and teeth both working fine. In fact it's the only bloody yo-yo that I have ever been able to work Blush.

EmsyApples · 02/12/2016 14:17

Oh bloody heck. Thats just rubbish. So glad i didn't bother getting one for friends DD. Would have been major tears this morning if auntie had sent broken toys.

Has anyone had any futher info on replacments ect? :/

idontlikealdi · 02/12/2016 14:18

I didn't get one but have just had an email from them saying all broken toys will be replaced like for like or another of similar value. I do wonder what had happened!

JDSTER · 02/12/2016 14:24

Please let there be something decent in it this weekend and not more plastic tat.

Nearlyadoctor · 02/12/2016 15:36

Took yoyo back today and got given a light up trick yoyo on sale in store at £7 so happy with that ! Teeth and watch both work here.

CotswoldStrife · 02/12/2016 15:53

I have emailed them to see if there is a timeframe to return broken items - I'd prefer to make just one trip! I may have to undo the long edge, slide out the plastic tray and check the items tonight. I'll let you know when I hear back from them.

MamaOdie · 03/12/2016 07:22

This mornings gift - a pencil - is all bashed in on one end! At least its stationery though. Off to email smiggle. Again.

jenandbean · 03/12/2016 07:30

Two smiggle calendars here. One broken yoyo already and this morning a pencil with a lead that continually breaks off when sharpening 😡

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 03/12/2016 09:22

Getting into the calander isn't as easy as it sounds. The front with the doors on is stuck in places to the plastic too. I got in though and the stuff does get better and is bits less likely to be broken. There were a few posts on Facebook of people's replacement from in store breaking the same day too so that has made some doubly unhappy people.
Won't be buying a smiggle one again. The dc were so excited it's been a bit of a let down. They have been telling people that they won't replace things earlier than the date they should be opened Xmas Hmm I hadn't heard about that UK law that we could only open advent calander doors on the date on the door.

Floggingmolly · 03/12/2016 09:31

So you've to make multiple trips to the shopping centre to replace plastic shit with more, equally dubious plastic shit?

Maybe they're assuming most people simply won't bother; and forgetting that most people who've been burned by the calendar won't be shopping there again either?
What a swizz.

Guitargirl · 03/12/2016 09:51

Won't replace things until the day they should be opened?? That's bloody ridiculous. They're a retail outfit not the Church of England.

The pencil is pretty though.

Might be useful to know. I've emailed smiggle asking for a full refund. Will let you know how it goes.....

Floggingmolly · 03/12/2016 10:38

I've done that too, elf. Was unamused to be offered 10% off further purchases, which have to be made before December 14th.
Like I'm taking a chance on any more rubbish from them...
