For the man who wants nothing -help

My partner wants nothing (that he's letting on). He's studying to be a nurse so doesn't really have any hobbies right now, only reads course books, has such an obscure taste in music you can't buy on iTunes etc. Owns far too many shoes and clothes... I'm so stuck what to get him.

We agreed no tat /jokey presents (my default) this year.

Max budget of £100 but would like to get a few things if possible rather than one bigger thing.

I'm so stuck

Can anyone suggest gift ideas? Please help.

crate of fancy beer?

DereksGotATail · 25/11/2016 12:32

Do you have to buy him a present?
Dh and I don't really bother with presents but spend the equivalent on a nice weekend away somewhere.

oklumberjack · 25/11/2016 12:34

My FB can be hard to buy for. Last year I bought him something like this.

http://www.thewatchhut.co.uk/wewood/mens-wewood-kappa-nut-watch-wwd-kpnut-wwd-kpnut.html?utmsource=google-products&utmmmedium=organic&utmcampaign=shoppingfeeds&source=google-products&gclid=CI2bgff0w9ACFQUq0wodDmkAgg&gclsrc=aw.ds

There's a lot of different places to get them, different styles etc.
A wooden watch sounds crazy but it's really well designed. My DH has worn it all year and has had many compliments about it (from other men!).

oklumberjack · 25/11/2016 12:35

FB? Dh obviously.

Bloopbleep · 25/11/2016 12:36

brontesbiscuits that's a great idea - but I don't drink, can you recommend anything? He's quite particular about what he'll drink

derek he's in his final year of his degree so a weekend away is unlikely with uni and exams, his placements and working. We don't really bother with birthdays so we like to make more of an effort with Christmas. Even if just a little one.

Subscriptions to newspapers, magazines or journals he might like/need.

Nursing & Health journals
Politics
Sport/hobbies
Entertainment and film mags
Design mags
Literary journals

Bloopbleep · 25/11/2016 12:38

Awww oklumberjack there was me thinking you meant fuck buddy ;)

That watch is lovely but he wouldn't wear it. I might tho - might drop hints Smile

He might not want a weekend away but how about a night out, tickets to see a band or a comedian maybe?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 25/11/2016 12:40

Tickets for two to the theatre, to see a band, a comedian etc.

I've bought Dh tickets to see Jack Whitehall live in February. Printed out the tickets and put in a largish box which ive wrapped.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 25/11/2016 12:41

X post with frankly!

Brontebiscuits · 25/11/2016 12:41

I got my dh a Brewdog crate. www.brewdog.com/

Bloopbleep · 25/11/2016 12:48

I've looked for tickets for gigs (and asked his friends too) but there's absolutely nothing he's interested in on (like I said he's obscure at best) He's bloody annoying as I'd love a comedy gig or something but he's not a fan (who the hell doesn't enjoy laughing?) He hates theatre too :(
I could punish him by getting pantomime tickets Grin

I got a subscription last year and most of the magazines are still in their postage packs.

Oh god thanks for the laugh Grin Someone meaning dh and it being spellchecked as fb (I was thinking face book??? why would anyone want to buy for Facebook) and then a poster thinking it meant fuck buddy !!!!! Fabulous Grin !!!!

BelfastBloke · 25/11/2016 13:15

goose1964 · 25/11/2016 16:26

Cheaper but a foot spa, hthey're great if you're on your feet all day, or s shiatsu massager?

Florabella · 25/11/2016 18:52

My other half is impossible too. I'm going to get him wireless headphones - no idea if he'll like them or not though!

bigredfireengine · 25/11/2016 19:06

Dont buy anything. I never want anything and hate it when people waste their money on stuff that I dont want or need. If he says nothing he probably means nothing.

SweepTheHalls · 25/11/2016 19:07

My DH wants a posh anglepoise lamp for his desk

ShoppingBasket · 25/11/2016 19:10

Coffee subscription?

EmGee · 25/11/2016 21:05

I feel your pain. I have got DH gardening gloves (he asked for them). Was going to get an ipad on BF deals (he's just told me our existing ipad is perfectly fine and still works ok). So now going to get an annual subs to the (digital) Telegraph. Not very exciting I know. Good luck!

rogl · 25/11/2016 21:48

I've mentioned it on another thread but I'm doing my dh a 'night in at the movies hamper'

I've put his favourite film in, loads of American sweets, microwaveable popcorn and some nice soft drinks.

It probably cost me £20 in all but you could tailor it to his likes.

Also what about a photo book of all of your memories, snapfish do lovely Ones and you can write messages on each page. I think they're about £10

Also if he is becoming a nurse how about getting one of those watches they have (the ones that hang upside down) and getting the back engraved?

littlemissneela · 25/11/2016 21:56

I would get a weekend away somewhere, for when he has finished his studies and it would be something for both of you to look forward to, make memories on, which will last a lot longer than some old tat Smile

Howmanysleepstilchristmas · 26/11/2016 08:18

Fob watch? Weekend away?

Howmanysleepstilchristmas · 26/11/2016 08:21
