What to get difficult to buy for daughter

She's 15, no particular hobbies (partly due to disability, partly as she's up to her ears in schoolwork).

I'm struggling because the things my generation would have wanted at that age are no longer relevant.

CDs, DVDs, board games (yes I'm old Sad)...

So what the blooming heck do I get her?

She is into - Netflix (vampire diaries, PLL, scream tv series, stranger things), she's not really a film person (that may be my fault I've spoiled her with 80's classics Grin)

And...make up (too much in my opinion! Started with the zoella crap a few years ago she still practices with the tutorials etc it does seem to be the in thing now) problem is I don't know what brands/products she likes (I know nothing don't wear it).

Money not abundant but ok (I save throughout year).

She has a phone (of course she's 15 Blush) and laptop already (black Friday last year as she needed for school).

She's not really a techy person (I do more on my tech than she does on hers she doesn't even like texting Confused).

Also already has a Bluetooth speaker thingy (prize from a competition at school). Not a super snazzy one but does what she wants.

So...hit me with ideas please

Oh - have to be able to purchase online, not eBay though (long story).

While I'm at it she's 16 early Feb so I'd like ideas for that too please.

Haggard1 · 23/11/2016 18:33

have you looked at people who could come to you? Maybe make your home in to a spa for the day? Massage, hair and nails and spend the evening bingeing on Netflix?

Bluntness100 · 23/11/2016 18:36

I've always taken the route of send me an email with links to all the stuff you'd like, big and little and recognise you won't get them all. I have to push her to do it, but she always does eventually and she's always happy on Xmas morning,

If you're looking for unusual jewellery DogEared have stuff at John Lewis (so can be delivered):

I got friends the hummingbird and origami crane necklaces for their birthdays, both are lovely and nicely different. Though I am twice her age so could be a bit off!

Graphista · 23/11/2016 18:40

Haggard no offence but she doesn't like being touched by strangers - won't get nails done and hates going to hairdressers. But I appreciate the kind thought.

Does she have a bath she can use? Lush bath bombs are very popular. However if she used to like Zoella then Superdrug sell a Zoella brand bath bomb which comes like a chocolate bar so you can snap a little off at a time.

From Lush the most popular things are anything Snow Fairy and the Butterbear bath bombs are lovely and won't stain the bath!! Grin

Graphista · 23/11/2016 18:45

No the dogeared looks perfect! Plus she loves maya Angelou! Wink there's no way I would have found that with a generic Google!

Have a look at Nomination for bracelets

N0tfinished · 23/11/2016 19:30

If she likes makeup how about a good pallet? 'Too faced' chocolate bar pallet is popular with that age group. It's sold in Debenhams. There's a new brand just come to Debenhams called Kat Von D, their eyeshadow pallets are amazing.

Lots of lovely stuff on 'not on the high street'.

A mermaid blanket, great for snuggling up in, especially when you're feeling rubbish.

AndiMac · 23/11/2016 20:51

Lots of cool Stranger Things merchandise: www.truffleshuffle.co.uk/tv-shows/stranger-things

Glad to be of service Graphista Grin my one bugbear with them is that they don't come in pretty little boxes as jewellery should (on cards Hmm) but I feel sure that can be sorted.

I feel your pain on difficult gift receivers - my sister in law is a lovely, accomplished woman who is rapidly going to earn herself vouchers who has everything she needs/wants, earns enough to buy anything lacking and has limited home space.

Bobsmum02 · 24/11/2016 07:11

The make up revolution eye shadow palettes are really good dupes of urban decay, really cheap and are actually very good.

Real technique brushes are on offer in boots for Black Friday, £100 set is down to £40.

Benefit make up set has just been released as star gift in boots too for £30. I've just bought one for DSD who is almost 16.

Graphista · 24/11/2016 12:16

I've ordered a real techniques set of a concealer brush and blender sponge thingy (I really don't understand this stuff when I did use make up I mostly used my fingers to apply) but dd very into it. (Whole other thread - thought I'd raised a confident feminist who wouldn't prioritise looks Sad).

Chatting with her last night think I know what I'm getting her for main presents Wink and you've all helped so much. It's very much appreciated especially as I feel like I'm letting her down at the moment with giving in to this bloody anxiety!

freat real techniques set on boots star gifts tody and a benefit set.

CanadaMoose · 24/11/2016 14:55

Get her a collection of actual books - the classical originals horrors. Dracula, Frankenstein, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Edgar Allen Poe's short stories... and then throw in some others. Stephen King's It and The Shining are great. Otherwise, she might like American Horror Story, so you could get her a box set!

Graphista · 24/11/2016 15:14

She has actual books she just has some on kindle app too (as its classics she likes they're often free/cheap).

What about a Cinematic Light Box?

Cable and Cotton lights, if you've just done her room up, loads of colours to choose from - you can buy a voucher for her to design her own.

Will link if you'd like.
