A fucking horse.

Is it some kind of Christmas madness?? Does anyone else get gripped by it?

I am usually pretty tight and determined to not have spoilt children. I don't know where this has come from.

Anyone else?

Envy I have asked for a pony every Christmas for 30 years and haven't got one.

WankersHacksandThieves · 20/11/2016 12:58

Children aren't spoiled by buying them stuff.

thegirlinthecar · 20/11/2016 12:59

i agree wankers . How lovely OP

slenderisthenight · 20/11/2016 13:00

I'm in exactly the same boat.

EverySongbirdSays · 20/11/2016 13:01

If you live on a farm, won't your kids spot it well before Christmas?

VeryBitchyRestingFace · 20/11/2016 13:02

You sound like the best mum ever, OP.

I too would like a new mummy. I am house trained. And I will go to bed without having to be told twice.

What is pony's name? How old is she? Does she like cuddles?

HemanOrSheRa · 20/11/2016 13:03

Have you bought a horse slender? Envy

Hedgyhoggy · 20/11/2016 13:04

Carrot tied to a long piece of string leading out to the stable. I did the same 2 years ago and no regrets. All 3 of my dc mucking out this morning and ds (7) with learning disability picking feet out. I do a lot of the day to day looking after and exercise though, but then I did buy him hoping he would grow from his 11 h to a 16 for me Grin

FayKnights · 20/11/2016 13:11

Soup don't get me started on Hatchimals!

Love the idea of a giftwrapped pony and the covert ops to keep the pony hidden.

GreyBird84 · 20/11/2016 13:12

I think thats wonderful OP.

The little faces in 5 weeks time will be priceless.

slenderisthenight · 20/11/2016 14:08

I have procured a horse heman. It is my child's favourite horse at the riding stables who will now 'belong' to her. I always said I would expect pony-mad children to work and save and long for a horse just like I did. And now she is getting one without even having to care for it (DIY livery) and she is five. I hate myself.

slenderisthenight · 20/11/2016 14:09

not DIY livery I meant to say.

JenLindleyShitMom · 20/11/2016 14:15

I WANT A HORSE!

I am loving this thread. It's not spoiling OP. It's making a dream come true. Spoiled is if you raise them to be entitled and expect a bigger horse every year.

We need a photo of the pony. Also, how will you actually hide it until Xmas and how will you reveal it?

I'm in exactly the same boat.

With the horse? Is it a big boat?

HemanOrSheRa · 20/11/2016 14:23

Aw slender that is lovely. Your DD will be over the moon! Although - WHY IS EVERYONE ELSE GETTING A HORSE AND I'M NOT. IT'S SOOO UNFAIR!

I'm spoiling DS rotten this year. We can afford it. We had an epically shite christmas last year as my Dad was dying. DS missed out on pretty much all things Christmassy and never complained once. So, although I'd rather hide under the duvet until it's all over, I've pulled on my big girl pants and I'm throwing myself into Christmas in a BIG way!

ememem84 · 20/11/2016 14:28

Can I move in? I told dh and he told me to keep on asking the answer will never be yes (to the "can I get a pony" question).

I bake.

And am clean tidy etc.

Sweepingchange · 20/11/2016 14:31

What a lovely thread Smile

HemanOrSheRa · 20/11/2016 14:36

Your DH is a big old meanie eme AngryGrin

ememem84 · 20/11/2016 14:42

heman I know. 😩🐎🐴😭😞

Yes me too, this is my problem..!

Spoiled is if you raise them to be entitled and expect a bigger horse every year.

Am laughing at the idea of, in ten years' time, the whole family bar Veruca Salt DD cowering in the corner in the shadow of the biggest horse in history, stamping it's foot Grin

it's not spoiling them. They will learn the responsibility of caring for an animal. That's the opposite of spoilt

Thank you. That's made me feel much better.
I must admit, I posted my OP then read it back and thought, that looks so stealth-boasty, I'm going to be FLAMED. So thank you!

The kids are out now so the pony's sat in the kitchen having a brew with me 🐴 Brew

Grin

It really isn't spoiled though. As you already know, horses are hard work. Early cold mornings, dark nights after school. I had a pony from I was a toddler (my dad was horse mad!) and I certainly didn't feel spoiled whilst shovelling shite at 7am before school in the dark Grin I did love it in general though. It's a fab life if you can provide it. (I wish I could for my DC)

neonrainbow · 20/11/2016 15:27

Aww that's lovely. Id love a horse but couldn't be arsed to look after it so i shall never have a horse. I coveted one as a child and never got one... eventually just stopped riding as there seemed little point. Turns out my parents had just decided to get us a pony on loan to share when we decided we didn't want to do it anymore.

ItShouldHaveBeenJingleJess · 20/11/2016 17:12

This was the pony I owned as a child....

DartmoorDoughnut · 20/11/2016 17:48

I want to have a brew with a pony I've been asking for 30+ years every single Christmas and birthday Sad

TheImprobableGirl · 20/11/2016 17:54

I would be sad if somebody bought me a pony. And dd2 would be SO shit scared that it would ruin Christmas Grin I do hanker after a little guinea piglet though

Also dd's are getting a giant fluffy pink unicorn each.... that's spoiled. Dp said they could share but no- I thought one each

AsWeTumbleToTheGround · 20/11/2016 17:56

Please can we have a picture! I am very jealous!
