I was in ALDI (again!) and they're doing some lovely musical biscuit tins for about a fiver, and they've also brought out their range of 'gifting foods which look like they're from Fortnums'. I very nearly bought a beautiful panettone in a tin but then remembered I hate panettone. Pretty tin though.

frauleinsallybowles · 16/11/2016 22:40

Ooh number 17 already go bargin hunters

Rockchick1984 · 16/11/2016 22:40

My Red goody bag arrived today and I was quite happy with it - a Body Shop perfume and shower gel, and a bronzer and brush. Those of you who said they don't use bronzer as they are pale, give it a try as it's a very subtle one and doesn't make me look Orange just healthy I usually look like Morticia Addams

BumpKitty · 16/11/2016 22:42

panther I found this on money saving expert
'If you change your mind, items can be returned or exchanged within 30 days, in line with Sainsbury's usual returns policy – so as long as you have proof of purchase and the item's in its original condition. Instead of the points being returned to your balance, you'll be given a cash refund for the full product price.'

Seems like a bit of a loophole!

QOD · 16/11/2016 22:54

🖕🏼to you rockchick. 😂

I've emailed Red twice about my gift now, with no response

Told them to cancel my subscription too as the magazine is almost as crap as the gift - which is far too specific to be a generic gift

WhyHasAllTheRumGone · 16/11/2016 22:57

whatdoesaturkeydo thank you! So simple and yet totally out of my reach Xmas Grin. All sorted now though.

ecofreckle · 16/11/2016 23:03

Thanks Reastie.

Did double up. I had 110 pounds of points so had 220 to play with which enabled me to max out my 40 pounds allowance in each of the six departments (I only missed taste the difference). The lady on customer service was amazed....which makes me wonder if not many people can be bothered with the faff. I was there for three hours! Very happy with my haul though. And my husband thinks I am some sort of genius miracle worker

Ness1234 · 16/11/2016 23:03

I bought the Prosecco Panettone from Aldi, certainly looks like a fortnums product.

TobleroneBoo · 16/11/2016 23:07

Girlwiththeyellowhat if you don't want to use it yourself, I would massively appreciate the code

AbleSeamanTitty · 16/11/2016 23:07

PixieMiss would really appreciate the M&S codes

Methenyouplus4 · 16/11/2016 23:11

My Red mag gift was also crap. Bronzer and brush (reasonable) then bloody dandruff shampoo, conditioner and scalp treatment! What a pile of crap.Angry

AtleastitsnotMonday · 16/11/2016 23:18

Does anyone know if the 20% m&s be in store as well as online?

SurvivalOfTheUnfittest · 16/11/2016 23:19

Thanks to Haudy for the Harry Potter suggestions at the end of the last thread.

AgnesBrownsCat · 16/11/2016 23:40

I have a code for M and S if anyone wants it. 20% off from 17-21st Nov.

DD was given a sewcool machine about 18 months ago for her 5th birthday, Polkadot1974. She already knew how to use a regular sewing machine (mine), but was, and still is, only really capable of using it with some degree of supervision. I was sceptical about the sewcool machine, but she's 6.5 now and not only is it still in regular use, she's managed to make some pretty beautiful and functional things with it.

It will 'sew' any felt, providing it's of a half-decent quality, so don't be suckered into spending £££ on the branded fabric packs. I was a bit worried by the lack of mains adaptor, but it really doesn't need it. I think I've only changed the batteries twice.

I expect I will buy DD her own proper sewing machine eventually, but only when she's old enough to use it fairly automously (I.e. Can thread it herself, and has developed the good sense to choose the right stitch/needle for the fabrics she's working with). Otherwise I'd just end up hovering over her shoulder to sort out the inevitable snagged fabrics and tangles.

AgnesBrownsCat · 16/11/2016 23:41

Atleast I imagine it will be in store but you'll need a voucher.

confuugled1 · 16/11/2016 23:58

I had a horrible time doing Sainsburys Double Up today - spend an hour or two wandering around the store and working out what I wanted - that was fine. They didn't have everything I wanted but enough to make a good dent in what I needed.

I had to queue for about 10 minutes to exchange points - lots of people in front of me having problems which is never a good sign.

By this point it was ten to three and I needed to be doing a school pick up at three so thought I'd be cutting it fine but five minutes late and a load of christmas bargains sorted OK. I even braved the little self check outs when I had more than I'd usually use them for.

It took 5 customer service assistants, 40 minutes, 3 tills and a whole lot of grief to sort it all out and I got home to discover I'm still missing a pair of reindeer socks that I have paid for.

I was so late to pick up ds1 - but luckily he is now in y6 and so just had to wait in the car park until I got there. I was also late for ds2 (different school, later pick up time) and nearly ran out of petrol on the way home.

I swear they have made the process as difficult as possible to catch as many people out as possible and persuade them never to bother doing it again.

So now returning to the safe haven of these threads and the much less stressful online bargain hunting!

gaggiagirl · 17/11/2016 00:13

Got my M&S advent calendar today! It's enormous and magnificent and I cannot wait til 1/12!!!!!! I'm also due a baby any day now. Too excited!!!!

torthecatlady · 17/11/2016 00:38

Checking in! A little envious of all the M&S calendars...

torthecatlady · 17/11/2016 00:50

Anyone know if truffleshuffle have any discount codes around?

Notgoodtogo · 17/11/2016 00:55

Did I dream it it was there a voice-recordable biscuit tin on another thread? Thanks

Scaredycat3000 · 17/11/2016 02:22

Book safe arrived in under two weeks from Aliexpress. Very nice, proper safe, available with key or number lock. You can get bigger ones and more adult designs. I got these for dc and am filling them with stuff. Seems to me like a nice bit of possibly useful fun for many ages.

Trumpton · 17/11/2016 02:52

NotGood
Marks and Spencer £5 . Recordable biscuit tin. I don't know how long it will be reduced for. It has shortbread in it but MIL doesn't like shortbread so will fill with something homemade.
