So what are your 7-8yo girls asking for this year?

DD is 7, she's a bit of a tomboy in her tastes (i hate that word, but you know what i mean by it) and definitely not a princess kind of girl. She doesn't do jewellery, princess dresses or makeup

She did halloween dressed as the Transformer Bumblebee amongst her gaggle of Elsas and pink witches..

She loves the lego movie, bikes, scooters..etc. She loves Pokemon, Minecraft and My Little Pony.

She wants a hatchimal, but i am not paying that much for something!

I feel a bit at a loss of what to get her.

My 7 year old is getting a Nintendo 2DS Pokemon special edition as her main present and then a few Pokemon plushes, the illustrated Harry Potters, a tin of Pokemon cards and a few annuals - My Little Pony, Pokemon and Harry Potter. Very, very Pokemon-heavy!

Her extended list included Lego, Playmobil, Hot wheels and Hatchimals. Not sure if we're going to buy anything else.

TheNameIsBarbara · 03/11/2016 21:25

Roller skates, kiddizoom camera, colouring books and nice pens, a nerf gun, some books, and probably a game of some type or a science kit. There are lots of those from making perfumes and bath bombs to making explosions and circuit sets, so something for most girls that age (unless you want to avoid mess!).

TooMuchCheesecake · 03/11/2016 21:30

7yo DD has asked for heelies, monopoly, our generation stuff, shopkins, sylvanian families.

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 03/11/2016 21:32

We're doing a nice dressing table/desk plus accessories, a furby connect, smiggle stuff and MLP stuff.

MaddyHatter · 03/11/2016 21:44

i'm not a fan of mess, and as she had to go under GA to remove playdoh from her ears 8 weeks ago, i'm not overly keen on craft stuff right now, lmao.

My almost 7 year old wants...

Lego (Friends, Elves, Minecraft but NOT Princesses)
Shopkins
Craft stuff
Playmobil (she is very into that)
Anything Pokemon themed (including Sun and Moon for her DS)
The DanTDM book
Another Minecraft book (Amy Lee?)
Smiggle stuff

Oh, and some hair curlers she saw on an advert earlier...

Thingvellir · 03/11/2016 22:19

My 8 year old DD's list:

Bike (main present)
Lava lamp
Mermaid tail blanket
iPod nano
Sony headphones
Shopkins luminate light
Colouring books
Aquarellum painting set
Light up 'love' lamp
Shopkins tat

She doesn't know what a hatchimal thing is - I'm going to google that, sounds like something she might like...

TheNameIsBarbara · 03/11/2016 22:21

Oh dear! Definitely avoid craft making stuff then. Hope she is ok now and the play dough was safely removed.

Thingvellir · 03/11/2016 22:21

Just realised there are three lamp/lighting options on DDs list- that's a bit weird Grin

NowtSalamander · 03/11/2016 22:32

Books, audio cds, nerf gun and bullets, adopt a wolf from a wolf sanctuary thing, Luna lovegood lego mini figure (£10!), a rubber duck in the clothes of her hobby, some hex bug stuff, a watch, a Harry Potter bracelet, wolf stationery from paperchase...

MaddyHatter · 03/11/2016 22:36

its all out fine, she'd stuffed quite a bit in there though! Nothing like your 7yo saying 'i can't get the playdoh out of my ears' to brighten your day, lol. I honestly thought we were past that.

Treehouse honestly, unless she is sharp enough to be able to manipulate a transformer, just avoid.. they are a nightmare. DS went through a phase with them when he was 8, and i spent most of the xmas holidays switching the damn things to the point i told him to either work it out himself or forget it.. even after showing him multiple times HOW.. they ended up mostly broken as he popped legs and joints forcing them.

I love transformers as a thing, i'm a Fan.. but i hate the toys!

aintnothinbutagstring · 04/11/2016 13:41

My 8yr dd is similar in tastes, love gaming so Pokemon is fave at the moment, minecraft also. Is really into Harry Potter so will get a few things relating to that.

We currently have:

Pokemon encyclopedia (amazon pre-ordered!)
Battery operated plush pikachu, he talks and his cheeks glow, so cute. I'm not sure if I'll give that to dd or my 5yr old ds who is also Pokemon obsessed.
Will buy some of the nintendo 3ds pokemon games, she has specified one in particular.

IAmAPaleontologist · 04/11/2016 13:55

Dd will be 8 at Christmas and is more of a dinosaurs girl than a princess girl.

She wants a robot, the remaining Jurassic world Lego set that she doesn't have, a remote control car, books, sewing things and a colony for Findus. To explain, Findus is her stuffed penguin chick. Last Christmas she asked for a family for Findus and Father Christmas provided parents and a small sibling. Now she wants a colony. NOT. GOING. TO. HAPPEN!

She has been bought so far by a mix of us and relatives a 3doodler pen (like a 3D printer but in pen form), a snap circuits electronics set and a snap circuits remote control rover and I have got various sewing things like tape measure and pin cushion for her stocking plus some books. Her uncle has got her the Lego set.

Books she likes at the moment are Harry Potter, the illustrated editions are beautiful, the little house on the prairie books, Sophie and the shadow woods, various classics like secret garden and little princess, Anne of green gables. She loves goodnight mr Tom too. I have things like other Michelle magorian books and books such as The Wolf Wilder on my list to get her.

I have seen something called Smart Lab on Amazon. It looks great. My ds is 8 (nearly 9) and getting:
Uggs
Aquarellum set
Harry potter trivial pursuit
New David Walliams book
Soap and Glory set
Letraset pro markers
Possibly the smart lab

beardedladydragon · 04/11/2016 23:01

Sam lab sorry not smart lab:

IAmAPaleontologist · 05/11/2016 09:52

Gosh bearded that samlab is £££!

Could be a moot point if you already have it but snap circuits are less expensive. Or you could get a raspberry pi and the camjam kits to make alarms, a robotic rover with sensors and all sorts for less money and keep adding to it. Snap circuits also all work together and can be rigged to work with the pi.

Or for other programming or electronic type fun there is a little robot called Edison which is compatible with Lego so you can build the base robot into whatever you want and then program it using your computer. I'll just find a link.
