(Christmas) AIBU to not cook chips with Christmas dinner

I've just been asked by one of our potential guests via DH if we'll do chips for the kids. My answers was absolutely 100% not under any circumstances.

Dh said I'm being absolutely unreasonable.

Hell will freeze over before I'll cook fries on Christmas Day.

Tbh I don't see why they can't eat roast potatoes but if they really won't then a tray of oven chips wouldn't kill you.

I know it's not tradition but will it harm you to put some frozen fries in the oven for twenty mins?

It's grounds for divorce to ask for chips to be served on Christmas Day. Give the daft sods roasties ant call them chunky chips.

It wouldn't harm me apart from making me want to blow my top when I'm watching them leave my lovingly prepared real food in favour of fucking French fries.

Equally it won't harm any kids not to have chips for the day!

I would say that (other than just letting you know of food allergies/vegetarianism etc) asking your host to provide a specific food is rude in the extreme. The only exception would be if the DC have some form of SEN that makes unfamiliar food a problem. Assuming that's not the case stick to your guns- they can have chips when they get home if they're getting withdrawal symptoms.

no no no! I was a horribly fussy child who when it was Christmas dinner usually ended up with a roast potatoes and mash for Christmas dinner but my mum refused to cook anything different. it's only for one day.
