Trees. How early is too early? 🤔

It's my ds first xmas this year. I am beyond excited, for the first time ever I've been impatiently waiting for the xmas stock to hit the shelves so I can buy nice stuff for the house.

So! With that in mind, would I be totally mad to have my tree up like......1 Nov? Too early? Grin
I can't be the only sado out there!

I put mine up 1st December. I would love to have mine up straight after bonfire night and I wouldn't get bored of it, but I would never be able to invite people in the house for fear of judgement and more importantly my dc have already started asking how long it is till Christmas. I think if I put the tree up any earlier they would be asking all day every day.

Can't resist eyeing up fairy lights already though! Also, bought a stollen yesterday (and ate half) even though i know quite well how fattening they are and normally wait til advent at least. Anyone else buy things "for Christmas" that get eaten way before? (or are we just the greedy family)

Anything before December is bonkers imo.
We do ours 2 weeks before Christmas and even that feels too early tbh

Any time before the last week in November is too early.

Always 1st December . Decorate it whilst watching cheesy Christmas movies. I bloody love it.

We always put ours up on 1st December, however with toddler dgd in the house, I might leave the tree until a couple of weeks before Christmas this year. That doesn't mean I won't put everything else up though, paper chains, wall decs, advent calendars, the works. I love Christmas Xmas Grin

Before I had DC I put tree up a few days before xmas as I was never really bothered and I was working 60-70 hour weeks.

Since having DC I put our tree up the 1st December. We go all out too.

Today would be too early. Definitely.

If you put your tree up in November you'll be one of those people taking it down on Boxing Day because you're fed up with it.

We get a real tree that goes up the 20th December and comes down the 27th.
I love christmas but they just get in the way and my house doesn't feel clean Hmm

Ok so now I am eyeing silver tinsel tress. pregnant can you link the one you've bought? I really like the twig trees by dh thinks it might look a bit lack lustre.
Personally I've been known to have a Christmas in august and put the tree up for a week, just for the fun of it, so go ahead with the 1st November. It's your home do what you like x

Mine goes up around the solstice, but I'd say 14th December onwards is acceptable.

Mine stays up until Twelfth Night though.

Last weekend of November is what I aim for. We have our first Christmas party that weekend and in Ireland it's usually the Toy Show night, though it won't be this year because the last weekend is so early. It's also the weekend Christmas FM is back.

The perfect way to do it is to get the boxes down from the attic on the Saturday morning, tune the radio into the band for Christmas FM. Countdown to mid-day and once the DJ comes on the air, it's officially Christmas so the boxes get cracked open and the decorating can commence. I have so many decorations it takes about a week to get it all up. And other than the porch tree, front-window/outdoor decorations are the last to go up the following weekend.

Ours goes up around 7th or 8th December. The 1st weekend is usually my "Final Blitz the House" weekend and then we've generally got stuff on the remaining weekends.

I can't wait, especially since I've decided to put a tree in DD's room. I have not mentioned this to DH....he won't understand.

PFB is near Christmas baby. Now teen.
Tree goes up the weekend before Christmas and stays until 12th night.
November at home is very odd.
You can't complain your child is over excited if you encourage madness in this way.
You are aware this is Christian festival, aren't you? I accept trees are from a different root, but essentially from the midwinter festival Christmas supplanted. It wasn't six weeks of "ooh what a pretty Tree (shedding its needles)".

My tree goes up in the 4th of December that's my brothers birthday and my mum and dad always put it up in his birthday for him as that's what he wanted and we have all just kind of carried on that tradition

We live in the US and the Saturday of thanakgiving is pretty usual

I bloody love living here from 1st October - a month of Halloween then a month of Thanksgiving then a month of Chrisgmas, American literally vomit pumpkins, gold leaves, sparkly lights and tinsle for 3 months straight. It's awesome

If you have your tree up long enough to require dusting that's too long.

We put ours up the weekend before Christmas (so probably 18th Dec) and down by 12th night.

I don't put the tree up until after the DC have broken up for Christmas, because then it's about 3 weeks to Twelfth Night and that seems about the right length of time.

I do think it's weird to have Christmas decorations up before Advent Sunday, which this year is 27 November. That gives about 6 and a half weeks of decorated Christmastide. Is that really not long enough!
