12 days of xmas!

suzycreamcheese · 30/12/2006 21:05

6th january..think of christmas time ending after new year i suppose, 12 days etc..
it looks lovely from window and if gone to all the trouble to put it there, aint faffing with it again til i have to!

KTreePee · 31/12/2006 08:42

Usually leave mine up until the 6th Jan, but it is coming down early this year - maybe on New Years Day - because it is shedding constantly (and it was supposed to be non-drop )

StrawberrySnowflakes · 31/12/2006 08:58

have took my million cards down..tree will be tomorrow or tues night!

harktheheraldfoxessing · 31/12/2006 09:37

We wait until the 12th day...

For some reason I love the tree being up but hate the Christmas cards - they make the house look even messier and I didn't even display the cards this year - they're all in a pile on the table

Kbear · 31/12/2006 10:04

Cards amd assorted decs down today - tree tomorrow. Can't wait for it to be gone this year, house feels claustrophobic! Had a massive paper clear out yesterday, bills, papers, envs, nearly a whole sack full. I feel cleansed!

NY Resolution - read it then bin it. Don't clutter up letter rack with crap letters and envs.

Won't last!

Blackduck · 31/12/2006 10:06

Denuded the tree yesterday - would have done it MOnday in any case - can't bear having a tree up when I've gone back to work.........! Now just have to take the tree down....

lucykate · 31/12/2006 10:07

i like to take ours down on new years day, although i get moaned at by dh every year for doing this. its dd's birthday on the 6th so its good to seperate the 2 events by getting the tree down beforehand.

so that means we've only got 24hrs left with it, shame, as it is a lovely tree this year.

might leave it up til the 2nd

Macdog · 31/12/2006 10:19

Took tree down on 27th. Was in bad mood and needed to take it out on something !!

Pablothelittleredfox · 31/12/2006 10:24

Probably going to do it next Sat but it is getting on my nerves now.

I'm in a really bad mood and just want to take it down.

eidsvold · 31/12/2006 10:49

yes - needed the table for sewing.

flack · 31/12/2006 11:22

Today. We put it up early, too (end November). DC didn't mind helping me and I've had it up long enough, now.

Busybean · 31/12/2006 12:10

Yep, it came down boxing day as the kids had so many toys that I needed the space...Im ot much of a traditional, dont really do the whole 12 days thing, once its over its over imo!

paulaplumpbottom · 31/12/2006 12:13

We're taking ours down tommorow.

danceswithreindeer · 31/12/2006 12:14

compo · 31/12/2006 16:03

ours is coming down tomorrow. I really wanted well rid on Boxing Day but dh persuaded me to leave it up for New Year

FrostyTheSnowMarsLady · 31/12/2006 16:07

Nope! Still Christmas It'll come down on the 6th!!

paulaplumpbottom · 31/12/2006 17:29

Why the 6th?

kiskidee · 31/12/2006 17:36

The 6th is the Feast of the Three Kings (or wise men). Supposedly they arrived 12 days after Jesus' birth so that is when he got his 3 gifts hence why in France and Spain and other places gifts are traditionally exchanged on the 6th of Jan. I think ages ago it was more significant in the UK for similar religious reasons before we became so secularised and commercialised.

I am dying to take mine done but dp is adamant is its bad luck, might do it during the day when he is back at work next week.

corrina28 · 31/12/2006 17:45

yes, only cos i lost the plot this afternoon and ripped all the decorations down then sat in the middle of the floor and sobbed.

jampots · 31/12/2006 17:48

i took mine down on friday - place looks much cleaner without it. I still have my white lights strewn in garland fashion over my mantlepiece though - they look lovely
