What are you building/assembling this evening?

We've just finished DS's kitchen which thankfully arrived partially assembled and only took half an hour. Better than last Christmas where one tiny wooden walker took several hours and several swear words.

Anyone else?

DH and I were utterly perplexed by the balance trike being fully assembled and ready to go

Fucking playmobil fucking hotel. First (and last) playmobil set that comes in my house. Started on Tuesday night, still not finished. Now working out which bits Father Christmas is going to leave for my daughter to sort out herself. Have none of the playmobil designers every read a lego instruction book, or seen the logical way it's bagged up?

Absolutely nothing!
Dds are now 10 and 11 and haven't got anything to build and ds is 4 and has asked for nothing that requires building.
Come to think of it, we've never had to build anything for them in the past either.
Phew!

We've bought our grandson ( 6 months old, first Xmas- I'm ridiculously excited!) a Fisher Price Jumperoo- I have put it in huge gift bag and my son in law has said ' oh I will put it together on the day wont take long' It won't for him if dh and I I tried it would be HOURS plus lots of swearing!

Nothing. I've done my time building stuff on Xmas eve and have moved onto the electronics stage where all the chaos happens on Xmas morning instead.

Building a wooden train table here. DH very excited. Hope Ds is!

Kitchen as well!!

I made DH do the garage at the weekend. Jay must as well as he scratched the fuck out of the (cheap Ikea) desk whilst building it. Which is not ideal but better than scratching the expensive wooden living room floor. We managed to get some felt sticky pads to put all over the bottom so saved the day.

Smart trike and kids are not asleep yet so going to be building til bloody 3am at this rate gggggaaaaahhhhh go to bloody sleep you horror

I made DH build the Playmobil Santa house on Tuesday. He brought it in an hour ago and had only made the "main" structure - I then had to do all the stickers (which was bloody difficult once all made up), and had to sort out the several hundred teeny tiny accessories...Wyld I absolutely agree - there is no rhyme or reason as to how the bits are bagged up. Why isn't Santa's hat in the same bag as Santa?!!!!!

Nothing this year. Last year we spent about 2 hours putting up a doors house. When we finished dp said "look, they've got a conservatory and an outside wardrobe " . Cue another hour taking it apart and turning the walls around....

DH is assembling the Little Tikes Wooden Cooking Creations kitchen, he started at 7pm when I put DDs to bed at 7 and is a stage 26/38 (I think) I am on sofa drinking Cava and watching TV with DSD.

Tracy Island here - all done but took about an hour and some very fiddly stickers. Oh and a My Little Pony castle which was flimsy in comparison. Can't wait to see their faces!

The boys are big enough that half the fun is assembling things with them.

I'm a bit confused about building before its given, how do you wrap them? In our house it's wrapped in the box it comes inand building is a shared activity on Christmas Day

Toot Toot drivers garage, repair centre and about a mile of track. DH is enjoying himself.

My 2yr old doesn't want to watch us build a kitchen on Christmas day though. He wants to play with the damn thing and I cannot be doing with entertaining him while he waits.

Oh toadsrevisited you've taken me back 5 years, I LOVED setting up the wooden train set for ds1, who was 2.10 that year!!! His little face when he saw it was priceless. That was dd's first Christmas and it was so magical, she was content, ds1 'helped' me in the kitchen, with his wooden food.

This year, it's just a scooter to assemble for dd. Ds1 has progressed to football kit and the like, ds2 is 14mo (and waking on cue ) and having some modest gifts like tomy eggs, soft play baby dinosaur set and a couple of brio wooden cars, as hamleys/ ELC awaits in the loft, just waiting to be rebuilt merry Christmas one and all x

Note to self... No plaympbil once dd out grows the 1 2 3 stuff.

My dad built a rocking chair and rocking horse for dd, i did try first but did the whole horse backwards so he re did it and didnt let me near the chair
